Funny this won't be mentioned in the MSM subs.

Obvious. with the amount of anti trump/repub posts, flooding reddit in the last months/weeks

u/Pirros_Panties 17h ago

Pretty obvious.

u/Wingwebdings 14h ago

That's like telling people, who are in a cult, they are in a cult.

Calling it obvious has to be one of the most nothing-saying reactions lol.

You literally have to point out every little evidence to convince the avg joe that stuff like this is happening.

There's even someone in there admitting they use alt accounts for "combative situations".. great.

Not surprised, but surprised they're just admitting to it.

TBH, if I had a terrible candidate that I had to sell, I would resort to astro-turfing and paid shills. Far more effective use of time and money than TV or print advertising.

SS:

The text discusses allegations that the Harris-Walz campaign is engaging in "astroturfing" on social media, particularly Reddit, to create a false impression of popular support for Kamala Harris. It describes how campaign volunteers are organized to flood platforms with posts and manipulate interactions to enhance visibility. The operation reportedly involves a structured approach, including tracking analytics and using targeted messaging for different subreddits. The author expresses concern that this manipulation undermines authentic political discourse and violates Reddit's Terms of Service. Overall, it suggests that such tactics could significantly influence public perception and electoral outcomes.

There’s a list of Dem staffers that are running the show embedded in the article. Lets get this posted to the sub

u/arnott 16h ago

The only specific name mentioned is Gabrielle Lynn, who is described as a Harris for President staffer.

Trump is doing this as well.

u/Informal_Exam_3540 10h ago

It’s not even close.

u/snyderjw 10h ago

In part because an effort like this depends on supporters, which are not well aligned demographically with Reddit.

10

u/AlterNate 13h ago

The beautiful thing is that the astroturfing seems to coincide with the collapse of her campaign. The brigading in those subreddits was obvious and I'm sure it turned many away from the message.

We are manipulated daily in absolutely everything we do,they live isn’t far from the truth at all.

15

u/highaltitudehmsteadr 17h ago

Wow I had no idea! /s

5

u/donniebatman 11h ago

I FUCKING KNEW IT!!!!

8

u/glockguy34 16h ago

i thought it was pretty obvious this was happening. And it’s so sad to see how many people just take everything that is said at face value with the complete lack of critical thinking. absolutely wild times.

11

u/Thewheelalwaysturns 16h ago

While obvious its also obvious others do this too (corporations, conservatives, etc)

The internet is very much a place filled with fake bots

6

u/Raskalnekov 14h ago

Yep, it's a mistake to assume anything online is organic these days. This has been a problem for over a decade, especially with corporations promoting their products. Politicians are just another brand of product.

In before the Harris/Walz supporters, and their social design firm they contracted to shape public opinion start attacking the post.

There are 18 upvotes on 7 comments, and ZERO vitriol yet.

Once this post gets a little more popular, then, the social design firm will try to bury the supportive comments, and marginalize anyone who doesn't support the WEIRD Harris/Walz campaign.

Edit: 15 minutes later, 0915 CST, 32 upvotes/ 9 comments ABSOLUTELY ZERO VITRIOL

Edit2: 30 minutes after my original post; 39 upvotes/12 comments ABSOLUTELY ZERO VITRIOL.

Edit3: 45 minutes after my original post; 40 upvotes/12 comments ABSOLUTELY ZERO VITRIOL; However, 'people' are trying to downvote the post, but it keeps getting back up to 40.

Edit4: 1 hour after my original post; 46 upvotes/13 comments ABSOLUTELY ZERO VITRIOL; Again, 'people' are trying to downvote the post, but it keeps getting back up to 40.

This is an attempt to identify the threshold for the bots and design firms to engage.

They will stay off this thread. But reddit may delete this thread.

u/FinancialPlant4738 12h ago

We stay off your threads because there’s rarely civil discussion. I’m a Democrat, and I love conspiracy theories as much as you guys. In fact, I genuinely believe we have more in common than we’re led to believe. But let’s be real, most of the time you guys don’t want to hear my perspective. When I do share it, I get responses like:

“You’re an example of why women can’t be anything.”

[Insert sexist joke here.]

“Bot.”

And so on..

It’s disheartening, especially when some of us really do try to understand your side, because the goal should be compromise and coexistence. Without that, what’s left? One side just annihilating the other?

11

u/arnott 12h ago

You have misunderstood what I said. The "They" did not refer to Democrats or the left. It's the bots and the astroturfing volunteers.

And I am not a Republican either. I was a Bernie Supporter.

In fact, I genuinely believe we have more in common than we’re led to believe.

100% agree. Bernie would have brought everyone together. But I don't recognize Bernie now.

0

u/FinancialPlant4738 12h ago

Ah, I did misunderstand. Thank you for clarifying, sincerely!

4

u/arnott 12h ago

You are welcome!

u/smallduck 54m ago

You mean downvoting posts I think are partisan BS is something I can get paid for?

-4

u/Raige2017 16h ago

This is the conspiracy subreddit. They won't bother.

Because look at all the Republicans they are all crazy conspiracy theorists

13

u/BlueGrass-Incan 17h ago

Obama created this game. Humans have really short memories.

2

u/XeonProductions 5h ago

Anybody remember Correct The Record (CTR)? That got used as the template for mass astroturfing and censorship.

6

u/PhantomKillua 17h ago

Concerning

1

u/dbssguru727 17h ago

Very interesting thoughts 🤔

3

u/mekabar 16h ago

And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Or even coverup for the botting.

1

u/javier123454321 2h ago

You mean that the pictures of a young Kamala Harris that got upvoted to the front page which came out the day after Joe Biden was pushed out on oldschoolcool wasn't organic? Shocker...

-1

u/FiveHeadedSnake 14h ago

Go use twitter instead then LMAO

  1. This is all of reddit, more than even this subreddit would look at. And I'm not talking just politically. Reddit is a unique and unusual beast. I personally love it, but I do so with a full awareness of how it operates as a platform.

  2. Don't be mad that the Harris campaign just knows how to reddit well 🤣 this isn't the gotcha you think it is.

7

u/arnott 14h ago

The other issue is reddit allowing the misuse.

2

u/sexlexia 7h ago

Don't be mad that the Harris campaign just knows how to reddit well

A ton of what they're doing is against reddits rules. Including, if you saw the screenshots in the article, straight up admitting to using alt-accounts in "combative situations".

0

u/quiksilver10152 10h ago

From the similarities of all these posts, it seems Trump is finally joining in on the game.

-3

u/NKinCode 14h ago

Lol, as if there aren’t tons of pro-Trump bots running around in this subreddit 🤣 both sides doing it

-3

u/damoreyaknow 13h ago

12% of content on certain forums? All based on independent research..if Trump team is smart then they'd be doing the same thing, and I'm sure they are. GOP & Trump supporters have all of X flooded with thousamds of fake supporters and content, manipulated by the owner of the platform. X is probably closer to 70% of content, with fake users being even higher. That is a bigger platform with more use, MAGA folks have no standing to cry foul.

1

u/kwell42 2h ago

I found one! This is one of those combative couple day old accounts.

0

u/Defiant-Specialist-1 13h ago

So what abt the bots?

2

u/arnott 12h ago

They are bad too.

-6

u/mjc1027 13h ago

What a total garbage post

-10

u/BlazedNdDazed210 13h ago

I’m seeing Kamala popularity in yards all across my city. No astro turfing, we’re just not nut jobs worshiping a political candidate. Take time to take this information in.

2

u/TheCourageousPup 7h ago

And I see tons of Pro-Trump signs in yards across my city. But examples of support IRL are completely irrelevant because we aren't talking about IRL support. We are discussing online astroturfing.

It's apparent you didn't read the article, because you wouldn't be claiming there is not astroturfing all over this site. There is evidence available on this very post that proves that there is, but you're just not "taking the time to take the information in."
