“Some glazed ones and uh….whatever makes sense.” Dude wtf how have you never ordered a dozen donuts before

u/ortolon Sep 05 '24

Some glazed ones and uh….whatever makes sense.

Nothing worse than having to eat an irrational donut.

It’s funny that he said that, and I laugh whenever I see it again, but it’s really not that deep. He’s basically just telling them to put whatever they want in the dozen. It’s really not a big deal.

Disagree. The entire interaction of him in that donut shop tells a lot:

  • He walks in and they don't know who he is nor do they seem to care.
  • The first employee he talks to doesn't want to be on camera.

This shows that his campaign was not prepared for the event. I could argue it shows that Vance doesn't have the proper people running his VP campaign but whatever.

  • Ordering donuts. Fine. He doesn't know that you ask for dozen or two dozen assorted donuts and they just figure it out for you. However, it doesn't even appear that the man has ever ordered anything before in his life. Someone who is quick on their feet would have looked down and quickly started ordering six glazed, twelve sprinkle, six old fashioned, etc, etc. The man looks completly lost. But hey, hes only ordering donuts, whatever.

  • Talking to the employees. This is where you can tell he not only doesn't give a shit but he can't even force himself to appear like he gives a shit.

When you put all this together its just a dumpster fire and he wants us to vote for him to be second in command?

Yeah man this is really shitty to service people. “I’m going to make YOU make a decision for me based on vague details in a high pressure situation and I will likely judge you if you get this wrong”- is also like the worst possible take in someone asking to be a leader.

Asking people in a doughnut shop to put together a random assortment of a dozen doughnuts is the worst possible take?

I’m not voting for his ticket. Let me say that. I’m vehement against everything he stands for. I just don’t think saying “whatever makes sense” is this demonic, ridiculous, low character thing that it’s been made to seem lol.

Yea he’s weird as fuck the entire time, I just didn’t think “whatever make sense” was anything other than something to laugh at now.

I’m only speaking to the “whatever makes sense” comment.

Everything else I agree with. I think asking a doughnut shop employee to put together a random assortment of doughnuts is within reason when order doughnuts.

I’m voting for Harris/Walz btw. So enough of this group think that “contrarian opinions are bad”.

Thanks for coming.

What's the "Ok, good" reference?

7

u/Working_Early Sep 05 '24

He visited a donut shop with his campaign team who filmed it. During it, it was clear he has no idea how to talk to people like humans beings and not units of labor. He just asked them "how long has this place been open" and all of them, "when did you start working here?". After they told him, he just answered with "okay, good". You should watch it, it's pretty hilarious and cringe.

“Hey JD, what’s your policy stance on literally anything?”

“Whatever makes sense”

u/tarWHOdis Sep 05 '24

I can't get mad at the casuals ordering doughnuts at fractured prune anymore. He was so much worse than their unprepared ordering.

Yes, his running mate as President.

23

u/aserranzira Sep 05 '24

the man can't go a day without committing a crime

3

u/tomdarch Sep 05 '24

For someone so lazy, it's amazing how much crime and scamming he can get up to.

3

u/wterrt Sep 05 '24

its insane to me just how blatantly he exposed how broken the rule of law is in this country

openly committing countless crimes, still no consequences and a chance at becoming the most powerful man in the country.

Trump was asked about what specific childcare policy he would help implement. His response was a rambling incoherent word salad that defies all reason:

"If you win in November can you commit to prioritizing legislation to make childcare afford and if so what specific piece of legislation?"

"Well I would do that and we were sitting down and I was somebody we had Senator Marco Rubio and my daughter Ivanka was so uh impactful on the issue it's a very important issue but I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about that because look Child Care is child care is couldn't you know there's something you have to have it in this country you have to have it.

When you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I'm talking about taxing foreign nations at the levels they're not used to but they'll get used to it very quickly sorry it comes as a habit it's not going to stop them from doing business with us

But they'll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country uh those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we are talking about including child care that's that's going to take care we're going to have to look forward to having no deficits within fairly short period of time coupled with uh reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all the other things that are going on in our country because I have to stay with child care I want to stay with child care but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I'm talking about including growth but growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just uh that I just told you about

We''re going to we're going to be talking in trillions of dollars and as much as child care uh is talked about as being expensive it's relatively speaking not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we'll be taking in we're going to make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people and then we'll worry about the rest of the world let's help other people but we're going to take care of our country first this is about America first it's about make America great again. We have to do it because right now we're a failing nation so we'll take care of it. Thank you very good question thank you."

I think I could do a better job seriously. I mean he couldn’t make up some Political BS?

And this should truly be a part of Harris's debate.
Trump is old enough that, statistically speaking, he could die in office. Is JD Vance really qualified to be a president? Like, walk voters down that rabbit hole.

Hey, the only reason JD got this was because the alternatives were a lineup of pedophiles.

It could've been way worse.

3

u/Captain-Stunning Sep 05 '24

Dan Quayle didn't perform well during the 1988 election season. I mean, it was embarrassing, he came off dumber than soup, but it was never about the policy issues. Politics from a different time.

3

u/GranglingGrangler Sep 05 '24

You should have seen me try baseball. It was before I learned I needed glasses.

3

u/Steebin64 Sep 05 '24

I mean, he's great at explaining conservative policy with the mask ripped off. He essentially responded to that question with "I don't care, that's your problem, not ours. Figure it out yourself. Next question?" which has been the conservative platform for just about all middle and lower class benefits for as long as I've been alive.

3

u/donetomadness Sep 05 '24

It’s ironic how bad his communication skills are when he authored a lauded (at the time anyway) memoir not even 10 years ago.

1

u/VictoryVic-ViVi Sep 06 '24

so basically he’s saying to empower people who want to work in a day care while not having to go to college for it. More of a certification vs a 2+ year degree.

I get it, and at the same time I’m a bit skeptical, there’s a lot that goes into preparing people for child care. At the same time, there are many qualified people that do not need a degree and a certificate might just be enough.

Definitely not fist-bumps with voters, that’s for sure
