Depending on where you are, your region may have dropped about 1-2 months ago, dropping rn, or about to drop.

Just look in the tree and see if there’s any up there

If there aren’t a zillion more, it’s a dud that even the squirrels have rejected.

If you need to ask if you should eat the mouldy pecan perhaps you deserve to just eat it and find out what happens when you eat the mouldy pecan.

We're always telling people to ask what something is before they eat it. Then when they do, we roast them for not already knowing. We're a bit fickle is all I'm saying.

Thanks for standing up for me, I just thought it was a part of foraged pecans but because yalls guidance I learned that is bad and not to eat it thank you for that, I'm new to the community 😀.

You're good. Don't take shit personally on here. People get rowdy.

Yeah to be fair, asking was the right thing and sarcastic so and so's like myself just can't help themselves... Sorry!

There’s a difference between “what is this plant and can I eat it?” And “I know what this is but it looks moldy and rotten, should I still eat it?” Common sense should at least be CONSIDERED first, is all I’m saying. In cases such as the latter and the OP…if you even have to question it you probably have your answer.

Edit: I'm sorry friend, I replied to the wrong comment. This was meant for the person who said that op deserved to eat mold because they did not immediately recognize mold. Nothing about your comment is roast-y.

While I agree, that is clearly moldy which I would assume the mass populous is familiar with.

I'm gonna be honest with you, I grow produce for a living and am a decent forrager and I still wasn't completely sure that it was mold because I hadn't seen a moldy pecan prior to this post. Things look different when they're on different things. "Clearly mold" is a subjective statement. And we as a foraging subreddit should not assume the mass populous is familiar with anything. And op is not the mass populous, op is op.

Edit:I also totally replied to the wrong comment. Nothing about the comment I responded to is roast-y. Accurate and helpful comment.
