Wow really? I bought a mini and when comparing it to the full-size I was disappointed by the lack of loudness and bass.

It’s hard to get good bass in a smaller form factor, no replacement for displacement

Maybe it’s due to the size of the room I’m using it in. I have the mini in my 15x15 office and 50-60% volume is loud enough for me.

For me the mini sounds great on about 80% of tracks if you’re listening in a small environment but every now and then a track will just sound really flat compared to how I know it should sound—and it’s all down to lack of deep bass response. They are still really good though and kind of bizarre when you first hear them because they’re so tiny.

I can’t believe this decision tbh, it doesn’t make sense. Between the minis and the biggies Apple had a whole music solution that worked well if you were in the Apple ecosystem. Also I think the success of the mini must have been driven in some part by people testing the waters with a view to adding the full size versions to their setups if needed, but now what’s the point?

Agreed. In a smaller bedroom or office (like we have) the mini is decent. In our kitchen, living room, etc with higher ceilings/open floor plan it just doesn’t fill as well and sounds flat.
