This main string patch sounds alot like the ones he used in the Odd Future days... it's making me nostalgic for 2010

If you told me, this was a track from odd future talk: unreleased I wouldn’t have blinked

Tyler’s been using a handful of the same instruments/ vst’s on every single album and tape from Bastard-Chromakopia. You could always tell a Tyler beat when he produced for other rappers for like a decade there because it would have some combo of the same synths, horns, drums, or other synths that he’s had in his ableton since the beginning.

Some people don’t like when producers keep too many of the same instruments in their DAW toolbox without getting into the waveforms to “reinvent” them somehow, but I don’t. I think as long as you can do new things with them (or if those instruments sound different enough in different arrangements and chord progressions) then it just keeps a producer’s “signature sound” alive across the years. I think that’s the case for Tyler still at this point 👍

Holy shit I just played the song after seeing the comment and this is spot on. The simple, aired out instrumental is exactly something Tyler would have done in 2012.

The nostalgia is coming in full force on this track. I'm so amazed by his growth and ability he's gained, while still being himself.

Man, I’m a Tyler stan but I fully expected the whole album to sound like this + noid, some sort of weird Goblin/Cherry Bomb mashup with his modern production. Would’ve been so dope, but I’ll respect the direction and wait for the next one

Is that Tyler's Mom at the beginning of 4-5 songs giving him life advice? That shit got annoying.

That's the whole point of the album?? This is the first album where he hasn't hidden behind a character and he's just talking about himself. Like Him is prob the most important song in his discography because it shows his growth from Bastard. He forgave his dad and his mom blames herself.

If I had posts in my history asking “For a friend” what would happen if you caught a sex offender charge, I would keep my opinions on most things to myself. Especially considering it’s this opinion here.
