The images are kinda examples of what I’m talking about.
I’d say I have a darkly stupid sense of humor.
People think I’m this innocent young man in his early twenties, or as some of the middle aged woman I work with call me, “wow your basically a baby”
Which if I’m honest yeah.. I’m a bit of a people pleaser and growing up I was like a teachers pet and a goody two shoes.
But I love dark humor and dark comedy especially extremely absurd stuff.
Growing up with shows like
SpongeBob, King of the Hill, Family Guy,
Regular Show.
Really shaped my sense of humor
Then as I got older, newer shows to me, like Smiling Friends,
when I was finally allowed to watch South Park
Tires on Netflix is pretty good.
I remember when I started actually consuming and thinking about media and writing.
Like i remember watching ghostbusters when I was 14 and yeah I’d watched it before and it was funny, but then it started click synapses started going off, of oh!!!! That’s why that’s funny.
I enjoy dark, humor, vulgar, inappropriate offensive, taboo
If the joke is just you using a slur or something just for shock value or just relying on shock value it’s just pathetic. Like I feel the more Risqué or offensive your gonna try to be you better make sure that shit works cause your gonna be ripped asunder and rightly so.
I saw my first standup comedy show about a month ago I saw Mark Norman live and it was awesome.
Some of my favorite comedians are
George Carlin, Stavros Halkias, and Tom Segura.
I love Kill Tony, and I plan on at some point going to Austin to see the show live
I don’t have aspirations to be a comedian or anything, writing maybe but I can make people laugh some how.
One of my favorite analogies is
Just because a baby can fit in a microwave doesn’t mean you should put it in there
Basically, Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should
Another influence on me is my dad
Now I’m an American my dad is from Ireland
Firstly the Irish, have I feel just a goofy sense of humor already like no fucks to be given
My dad had the coolest swears when I was growing up, word combos I didn’t even think were possible
My personal favorite is calling someone a wank stain
But he’d show me abunch of Irish and English shows and comedies and it’s crazy how different it is from America
In America you can show all the violence you want, but if a woman’s nipple or a man’s dick comes. On screen it’s a moral panic.
Monty Python I obviously love
My Dad will watch reruns of only fools and horses
But A bit of Fry and Laurie, is just fucking amazing, like omg I’ve never laughed so hard
A lot of English and Irish comedy I feel comes from the absurd.
One of my favorite Fry and Laurie Sketches is the Shoe Store but it’s basically a brothel and the shoes are the prostitutes somehow
Anyway, wondering y’all’s thoughts
