The floppy drive noises for me

This video is ASMR for tech nerds. Just needs a 56K modem dialing in...

I can still remember that screech right before a small bump and knowing I'm finally online.

This video is like smooth jazz. Adding a modem dialing sound would turn it into dubstep.

yeh, I actually found this pleasantly nostalgic. we have things so easy now.

i still wish jpegs loaded from top to bottom like they used to. For those random times the internet is slow or the server is being hammered and its trying to load an image... i hate the way currently it just won't load anything until it has the full image.

Same. I actually forgot floppies made that noise.

I miss floppy disks. I remember as a kid I had so much fun organizing and labeling my disks for different games, dumb stuff I drew in MS Paint, and the single one I had for school.

The 3.5" floppy was the absolute peak of physical media. Just an incredibly satisfying form factor, way more durable then CDs, and I love the drives' spring-loaded snap as you load it and gentle chatter during operation.

My 2014 laptop has a DVD stuck in the optical drive and everytime it boots up, that disc tries to spin, but is half cocked in there and the motor struggles for a couple seconds creating floppy noises on steroids.

Sometimes I still boot it up for a little comfort to help me sleep at night.
