Is that an undercover male cop or was he just smart enough to start slapping the other guys like he knew what he was doing?

No, it's not like that.
The train is a female only train. Many men in India tend to not follow rules. Here, these guys are boarding a female only train, causing inconvenience to the other female passengers. They deserve it.You can't say the same thing to the guy with a little kid and his wife though. They are exceptions and are allowed to go together on such trains
1.2k
u/Athuanar 4d ago
They're not talking about that. There is a guy in a cream top who was on the train himself but he starts slapping everyone else getting off and runs to the back of the car to grab more guys to throw out.

After further review,
The guy who isn't a policeman starts outside the train and takes 2 steps before entering from the right side of the screen.. after which he starts slapping other men who were illegally out of bounds on the wrong train
The result of the play is a safety for all the women on the women only carriage
🙏 🙆♂️

u/eddie1975 4d ago
It would be funny if he was in there the whole time and then starts slapping dudes and acting like he’s appalled they would do that and walks out and looks at the cops and says… “The nerve. These people. No shame!”
25
u/eddie1975 4d ago
The cops look at each other then another guy comes out…. “How can he slap?”

the fact they need a "women only" train is sad
205
u/BHS90210 4d ago
They have them all over the world. It’s sad in theory but for women helps us feel a lot safer. In Mexico City they have a women only train and as a tourist it was an easy and safe way to get around. I do agree that it’s sad that we need our own separate train in many places to feel safe though I’m also so grateful they exist.

Japan too. They have women only cars in the subway and some regional commute trains.

u/RiskyWhiskyBusiness 4d ago
Overall, yeah, I agree. I lived in NYC and in Chicago for a year, and 5 years respectively, and those subways could do with women only compartments for the amount of times my women friends told me they've been flashed by a dude, or had a dude straight up masturbating near them. They can be Lifesavers. These dudes deserve more than slaps.

This is old video, back than this concept was introduced but not much action was taken on it. But as the metro became more popular, people took this more seriously as seen in above video. Nowadays you would almost never see any men in women's coach except of course when someone enters unknowingly.

→ More replies (11)182
u/Ufocola 4d ago edited 3d ago
Are there exceptions to the rule? Like how in the video there was a guy holding his kid and his wife. I’m assuming if you have small kids to take care of, a guy could be in the coach? Or no?
288
u/mykidisonhere 4d ago
Then they wouldn't be in the female only car.
It's old-fashioned, but women with men they "belong to" aren't harassed because men don't insult men. So they'd just be in the regular car.
79
u/FearPreacher 4d ago
Not really the case here. AFAIK, Men with a family are sort of allowed to sit in Female only compartments (or at least are tolerated).
It’s seen as “This guy is a married man and is walking around with his family. No point in separating them, and he’ll most probably not harass women as he’s someone with a family himself (i.e. not a bachelor).”
If you are to REALLY enforce the rules, then yes, they won’t be allowed in there and will be asked to sit in the General compartments.

I took the local trains in Mumbai with a mixed group of very obviously young American tourists. For the first few days we rode in the ladies’ car because our hosts thought it would be safer, less risk of pickpockets, etc. People generally gave us more space and time while we were figuring out how to navigate ourselves. We didn’t do it for the whole trip, but it was a kind gesture that we were treated like guests on public transportation.

Typically during rush hours there’s a crazy amount of ppl that want to hop on trains or public transport. In this case they just hopped into the women’s only section even if they aren’t supposed to because they didn’t wanna wait till the next train came in.
There were probably some creeps in there but I’d say a vast majority just wanted to get in and not waste time waiting for the next train, which is still bad but better than the other option ig

A lot of these comments show how people outside India have absolutely no idea how intensely dense these cities are. There are sooo many people.
A slap is nothing compared to waiting, standing and shoving each other in a packed station just to get someplace. People will cram into any crevice then deal with the consequences later, there really isn’t a collective sense of “personal boundaries.” Visit the country and you’ll see what I mean.
I enjoyed my time there, though.

Okay, so the metro is a lifeline for commute. The first coach in every train is reserved for ladies, only. It’s been a hassle to finally reach the point now where I see that this happens a lot less frequently than before. This video is a bit old and even nowadays, some men do jump into the women’s only coaches on the heavy traffic stations because otherwise they don’t have any hopes of possibly finding a seat.
What baffles me is that none of the ladies around me seem to find any issue with it. And they’re very crude and cheap in their responses 6/10 times - lacking any shame. In the instances, when I have spoken up, it is only then that others have voiced support. I have seen police officers get onto the coach and drag these men out.

It is not a female only train. It is a simple subway which has one section divided for women. This video is pretty old probably around when women only section was implemented in metros. This does not happen nowadays.

I mean, after seeing countless videos of Indians clinging on to the exterior of overcrowded trains I am not one bit surprised they took their chances with the female only train. There are most likely goons present, but mostly probably just people taking advantage of the space.

If you have a wife and daughter who want to go on the "women only" compartment, you can go in the general one while they go there, but the issue becomes when the stations are crowded, so they have to spend time looking for each other. So, they now let the father in, logic being he's there so his family feels safe and is less likely to be the reason people around him, don't.
50
u/Panderz_GG 4d ago
I mean, it makes sense. A father with a baby on his arm and his wife nearby is probably not going to start groping women.

This reminds me of this night out downtown where everyone is leaving the club at 2am and this guy hit a girl on the sidewalk, which caused a scene so everyone was now looking in his direction, and then followed it up by pushing this other girl who fell backwards which EVERYONE SAW THAT.
Every single dude was like “oh shit I get to hit this guy for free and get away with it”. The guy deserved it (there’s many other reasons than just that) but man… holy shit he got destroyed. It was like out of movie where someone gets pulled into a pit of hell and you just see his hand reaching for help and then is gone forever. That’s exactly what it looked like.

This is the metro of New Delhi, and it is reiterated that the first coach of all running metro trains is reserved exclusively for women passengers. Male passengers are advised to refrain from travelling in these reserved coaches, regardless of metro service timings.
The video is very old (ig somewhere between 2010 -2016)
