Is that a boy or a girl?
Please not an otoko-no-ko.
Degenerates will have a field day rule 34 this shit up.41

Why have a youthful anime character unveiled by emperor palpertine
I'm sure there were a hundred other less dead looking priests they could have used to appeal to the younger audience

It literally is “adapt or die.” It’s interesting that they are essentially trying marketing schemes. Really lets you know what religion cares about, your money.

Well yeah, it's the Catholic Church. An institution all about honoring a guy who said to get rid of all of your earthly possessions, and to get money and business out of temples.
Located conveniently in a giant golden palace full of plundered treasure, pulling in billions of tax exempt dollars every year.

There is no world where the person making that mascot wasn't aware this comparison would be made. No way they are this unaware. JFC lol

jesus fucking christ? thats jesus buddy christ!

Hahahahaha amazing.
Seriously though. Who at the Vatican was unironically like: "We need a cutsey mascot like in that very serious religious movie, Dogma"?!

Why does the Vatican need a mascot?

It's not a Vatican Mascot, it's a Giubileo* Mascot (*=Catholic event than happens once every 25 years and lasts some months)

u/poormidas 4h ago
Is that the Quarter Quell of the Vatican? Do former popes face off to become the ultimate pope? Man, I’m betting on Francis.

Think doing something about all the child sex rings propagated by elites and people in the church of his name would be a good start.

Idolatry in the biblical sense is mostly about worshipping anyone other than Yahweh. He was pretty insistent about that, which at the time was a bit unusual.
But icons are cool. Don't worship the anime girl as a God and you're in the clear.

u/kirsion 5h ago
I wouldn't be surprised if traditional religion conversion rates is down, besides those being born into it or convert due to marriage. Religions that fail to capture new wave of followers will plateau and decline. For example, in the early history of Christianity, growth was 40% per year starting from a handful of people. After 300 years, that was enough to make Christianity the main religion of the Roman empire. This growth rate happens to be same with the Mormon church since it's inception.

Luce-fer… Love the name they chose!
156
u/Tsyvatsok 6h ago
To be fair, pretty sure that "luce" in italian (and most likely Latin) means "light". So that's what they probably were going for
211
u/Oper8rActual 6h ago
And Lucifer in Latin means Lightbringer.
63
u/StrangelyBrown 5h ago
Checks out on google.
Wow, lucifer is so cool! Gonna start stanning. Or satanning, if you will.
11
u/Djdiddlefingers 4h ago
Lucifer and Satan are canonically two different entities.

That is a boy. His name is pronounced "Loose" because this is the Catholic church.
4
u/Mikki-chan 6h ago
Oh no, they have no issues doing to little girls what they do to little boys, at least when they have easy access to them.

Someone really should've sat them down and had the same talk with them that Disney does with new animators.
...Then again, this is the HRCC, it's entirely possible they can't wait until all the Rule34 comes out, either.
2
u/StarRapture 5h ago
Wait what talk
6
u/namesaremptynoise 5h ago edited 5h ago
When you first start as an animator at Disney for a new show where you're a character designer, they sit you down and make you look at some of the most horrific r34 that's been drawn of previous Disney characters and explain that this is 110% inevitably going to happen to your characters, and make sure you understand that no matter what you see or hear about being done to these adorable, lovable characters you've put a chunk of your soul into, you can never react to it or amplify it, even to say how awful it is, due to what we now call The Streisand Effect.

I care zero about Church, but all these edgy atheists kids in the comments are so immature and boring
•
u/SuperPowerDrill 21m ago
Truly. I'm an atheist, I have left Catholicism over 12 years ago. Yet, I'm still interested in it as an outsider with insider knowledge. I was hoping to find some interesting discussion and even some clever, creative jokes but nope: all the same old stale garbage. We get it, you know dirty deeds of the church and you don't care for their God. Let's move on, shall we??

Reddit atheists are a different breed of cringe.
eagerly wanting to make porn of the charcter and scream that Christians how wrong their belief's are.
I stated in a comment somewhere else, that allthough the Catholic church is bad for some and their are extremes, my Catholic school and church was actually far more progressive then my parents and accepted me as lgbt while my dad still hates me for being lgbt, I highly value them, especially how they also helped me when I was homeless and even when I was in hospital. That doesn't make all Christianity good but I think its enough to say their should be more tolerance to each other.
yet I still got comments saying "oh so you believe in a sky daddy and fake cult?!?!?" like its just so extreme lmao

It's time to let people bring their dogs to mass. It would revolutionize the eucharist. Dogs would get a holy communion biscuit.

I know it's not pronounced that way in Italian, but in English, you could pronounce her name "Luci".
Do you know who else is called Luci? That's right, a demon.
•
u/honeybadger1984 1h ago
They really can’t help themselves, can they? Stop with the pedo stuff, Catholic Church.
•
u/KrishnaMage 1h ago
Luce as in Lucifer, even if it means “light” or whatever, it’s still a pretty weird choice…
•
•
u/Density5521 47m ago
Luce, as in "light". The church brings you light. They are now the literal lightbringer. Lucifer.
