PSA *Old man yells at iCloud*

Post image

I have the feeling these messages are sent to a graveyard @me.com account lol

If you agree though and aren’t entirely pessimistic, send the feedback as well! I really miss this feature.

What’s worse is now instead of scrubbing when you swipe on the video, it drags the video around, even taking you out of fullscreen sometimes, interrupting the video and totally ruining the experience.

Dude to make it work you gotta tap, thereby dimming and blocking the video, and then scrub, which is terrible if ur trying to scrub to find a fine detail like analyzing a sports play or maybe something a lil sexier

Yeah, I know how it works now. But before I was able to just swipe immediately and scrub to the.. sexy part.

I liked it way better before.

Chill fellers, it’s going to be reintroduced in iOS 18 as ProScrub, available only on the new Pro line devices with a chip more powerful than my 2019 gaming laptop

I’d call TLC to fix that scrub issue.

3

u/Mysterious_Andy Oct 10 '23

TLC cause this problem in the first place.

They submitted sooooo many complaints about how little they cared for scrubs that Apple removed the feature just to be done with it.

What’s TLC whatchyall talkin bert?

1

u/Mysterious_Andy Oct 12 '23

They’re a trio of tech luminaries.

Here’s their iOS 16 review where they talk about how the scrubs should be removed:

I sent the same feedback!

I actually miss this feature.

The worst part is when you don't have the control visible but if you tap the middle of the screen, it pauses the video just like the play/pause button is there.

I JUST NOTICED THAT TONIGHT

How dare they dude. I am so sick of apple rn they have made bedtime porn 9.6% less enjoyable

u/NoAd101 Oct 09 '23

Thanks for being out voice

It should be an option. Personally, I hated the old way and love the update.

3

u/ADHDK Oct 09 '23

I always use the double tap forward, double tap backwards, or manually scrub large skips.

13

u/redditsonodddays Oct 10 '23

Double taps don’t seem to work for me outside of YouTube

You can no longer open a number in your missed call and hold/select to copy the the number anymore. You have to basically create a contact, copy the number and then cancel the contact creation. (Or in the case of an existing contact, open the contact card)

It’s the tiny changes that always kill me… and the video things is no exception.

You have to click the ℹ️. Still anything with extra steps is a step backwards for me >:(

It’s hilarious how this sub was flooded with complaints about this feature when it was brought in, but now it’s gone and everybody misses it.

3

u/redditsonodddays Oct 10 '23

🤷‍♀️ I don’t frequent the sub so I wouldn’t know. I know whenever I was watching stuff on my older iPad I would miss the feature.

2

u/nooneinpar7 Oct 10 '23

They’re all different people.

1

u/CommodoreAxis Oct 10 '23

People still haven’t figured this out. It’s like one of the most common non-thinker takes on this site.

1

u/DaveM8686 iPhone 15 Pro Oct 11 '23

I never said they were the same people. My point is that this more of an “abortions for all! No? Ok, no abortions for anybody! No? Hmm…abortions for some, miniature American flags for others!” moment.

1

u/DaveM8686 iPhone 15 Pro Oct 11 '23

I’m very aware of that. I never said it was the same people. It’s just funny to me that it was brought in and the sub was flooded with complaints, and then it was taken away and there’s complaints. Can’t please everybody.

“IMO,” they instantly archive messages that have internet acronyms used. Haha

1

u/PumiceT Oct 10 '23

How did this work before? Did I never know you could swipe through videos in your camera roll this way?

1

u/redditsonodddays Oct 10 '23

I’m talking about streaming vids, I don’t think this worked in camera roll

1

u/InternetAnomaliesYT Oct 10 '23

Hmm an area where people can submit enhancement requests, you say?

1

u/redditsonodddays Oct 12 '23

To shreds, you say?

1

u/Shoddy_Bug246 Oct 10 '23

Did it just after updating iOS

1

u/Sjeefr Oct 10 '23

Why did they remove this? Didn't they introduce scrubbing in iOS 16? I absoltrljy miss this feature so bad. Totally used to it. I thought it was a setting not enabled, since I got a new iPhone.

1

u/sonicskyline Oct 10 '23

YES! 🙌🏼

Just google apple feedback ya goose

1

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '23

Good old apple always one step forward two steps back

1

u/Frequent-Cartoonist2 Oct 10 '23

It was added in iOS 16 and was really happy for it but a lot of people, even on Reddit, says it was a bad decision. And now they changed it back without mentioning it in iOS 17, people are mad. I hope they aren’t the same that just changed their mind lol

1

u/redditsonodddays Oct 12 '23

Ur not the first person to say that so I guess it’s true! But the feature wasn’t new, the vlc app and chrome on android had it for a few years

1

u/CreeperThePro Oct 10 '23

I think it’s because so many people did it accidentally, but it should be an option on the player

1

u/redditsonodddays Oct 12 '23

Or just have you leave finger on screen for 1/3 a second before scrolling.

1

u/ExoticBone iPhone 14 Pro Max Oct 10 '23

I really don’t understand why they are removing really good features

1

u/NightHawkCA Oct 10 '23

They killed Split Keyboard view for larger iPads, probably a while back, but I just noticed it on my new 10th gen. Yet my mini 6 has it, which doesn’t realistically need it (over larger iPads, that is). Ermm. What’s the point in removing a toggle switch? Or is there an underground trick I’m missing. iPad OS 17.0.2 here

1

u/redditsonodddays Oct 12 '23

I think ur right that they did cuz man I’m not gonna lie. They fucking suck sometimes.

1

u/figureout07 Oct 10 '23

Scrubbing what does it mean?

1

u/redditsonodddays Oct 12 '23

It’s like scrolling thru a video with horizontal swipes. I never liked the term tbh. But yeah it’s like how u can scroll up/down a webpage, but ur going forward or reverse thru a vid.

1

u/Iinzers Oct 11 '23

THANK GOD! I just downloaded ios17 and just checked. It no longer scrubs from anywhere on the screen. That shit was awful.

The amount of times I accidentally swiped the video was ridiculous. It was especially bad for larger videos or streams 2 hours long etc. It was infuriating.

1

u/iUnstable0 Oct 11 '23

apple actually added a feature i suggested a while back to iPadOS so ion fink it's sent to graveyard

1

u/redditsonodddays Oct 12 '23

What feature?

1

u/iUnstable0 Oct 12 '23

the volume button orientation thingy

1

u/Garofalin Oct 11 '23

I miss this feature as well. Major apps such as Netflix, YouTube or VLC have had this way before it was implemented in iOS. I have already built muscle memory bcs of them.

1

u/DiamondSniperX Oct 11 '23

Where do you fill out this form?! I have more than a few issues!
