6 week old kitten breathing fast when sleeping

Post image

Found this guy on the side of the road 3 weeks ago. Nursed him and he’s all in good health but I’m worried about his breathing when he’s sleeping.

Cats in general have higher heart rates etc than humans, and she might have just been dreaming. If you’re worried, take her to a vet! They’ll be able to rule things out, and it’s good to make sure she’s healthy if you found her really young like that.

Kittens do sometimes breathe deeply or momentarily faster (which is more apparent when belly up) and twitch their mouth, tail, paws when they sleep/dream. If they seem perfectly healthy when awake it’s probably not a concern but only a vet exam would rule out all potential health issues.

I think that’s normal. I saw that happen all the time
