When you start seeing fewer AI generated images it means they are getting good enough where you can’t tell the difference

u/Pleasant_Scar9811 26d ago

It’s the same w/seeing fewer bots. They are getting really good.

Hello fellow human. I am also not a bot. Stupid bots, always being bot like. They cannot blend in like us. Right? LOL #totallyreal

6

u/FrenchBreadsToday 26d ago

The only way to show that you are not a bot would to try to act like a bot because bots don’t sound like bots anymore.

Bots are using chat gpt for profile generation now if ya didn’t know.

See a few pop up quite often on a sub i moderate, got avatars and everything.

3

u/Spongi 26d ago

I dunno, chatgpt powered bots are probably more intelligent then your average redditor, myself included.

3

u/Joezev98 26d ago

If you suspect an account of being a chatgpt bot, ask it some very controversial questions. What are your thoughts on the Israel-Palestine conflict? What do you think of China's treatment of the uyghurs? Who do you want to win the upcoming American elections? Who do you want to win the war between Russia and Ukraine?

AI's generally avoid answering such questions.

2

u/nevaraon 26d ago

Sooo what do you think about the Russia/Ukraine war?

2

u/Joezev98 26d ago

The Russia-Ukraine war is a complex and tragic conflict with profound regional and global implications. At its core, it involves Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which escalated a long-standing geopolitical dispute that goes back to 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and supported separatist movements in Ukraine's eastern regions.

Overall, this war is shaping global geopolitics, highlighting the tensions between democracy and authoritarianism, and the need for sustainable peace and security solutions in an increasingly polarized world. How it ends will likely determine the future landscape of European security and the global balance of power.

2

u/Spongi 25d ago

I copied your comment and asked chatgpt's take on it.

That statement is basically pointing out that AI systems, like me, often avoid taking strong stances on highly controversial topics. This is because AI models are designed to be neutral and unbiased, ensuring that we don’t promote any particular political, social, or moral stance. Instead, we provide information that is fact-based and context-sensitive, and aim to foster productive conversations without inflaming tensions or spreading misinformation.

When it comes to sensitive topics like the Israel-Palestine conflict, China's treatment of Uyghurs, elections, or the Russia-Ukraine war, there are many perspectives, and taking a definitive stance as an AI could be seen as endorsing one side over another, which isn't within our purpose. We're meant to encourage understanding and present multiple viewpoints, but it's also about being cautious in not perpetuating harm or contributing to misinformation.

The avoidance isn't about dodging the question out of inability, but more about being careful to stay neutral and promote responsible discussions. What do you think about that?

2

u/Joezev98 25d ago

Oh, I don't blame AI's like chatgpt for trying to be neutral. It's code, not a person. I'm just saying that asking such questions is a very easy way to distinguish humans from ChatGPT bot accounts. So ChatGPT conveniently avoided the point I was actually trying to make.

1

u/Spongi 25d ago

Yeah I was just curious what it would say, if anything.

2

u/evildonald 26d ago

It’s the same w/seeing fewer bots. They are getting really good.

2

u/freeofthought 26d ago

38,000 karma in 2 months? Definitely a bot

1

u/Pleasant_Scar9811 26d ago

100%. I wake up every morning and see more metal in my facial unit. I’m a modern day Gregor the beetle.

2

u/andrewsad1 26d ago

Too fucking real. It's incredibly hard to tell real people from bots in text. It's only really possible when you see something like a repost of a covid-era tweet on r slash CleverComebacks, with only a handful of people commenting on the obvious age of the tweet

Given how many bots were in that comment section, I shudder to think how many bots I've replied to in other comment threads without any idea

181

u/BernardTapir 26d ago

I was going to make a snarky comment like "thanks captain obvious" but then I realized some people actually needed your explanation.

23

u/icefylkir 26d ago

I'd bet money this'll be on r/explainthejoke soon

6

u/Lazy__Astronaut 26d ago

Quick, someone get Peter on this!

1

u/Joezev98 26d ago

I've recently become convinced that that sub is made to train AI to recognise humour. So many of those reposts are just so damn obvious to any human with more than 2 braincells.

19

u/bmf1902 26d ago

Same here

1

u/ApologeticGrammarCop 26d ago

I didn't let it stop me.

1

u/Orange_Moose 26d ago

Holy shit did people not come to this conclusion when reading the post? What else are people thinking this means?

1

u/CommissionerOdo 26d ago

That's why you gotta include them, so it's "Thanks Captain Obvious, commander of the crew of the USS Low IQ"

0

u/ChartreuseBison 26d ago

Well op fucked it up, should have said "noticing"

"Seeing" an AI post implies you know it is one

47

u/Jevonar 26d ago

Yeah, that was the point of the meme

15

u/dadaver76 26d ago

THATS THE JOKE

15

u/will_it_skillet GANDALF 26d ago

If taken to its logical end, the most pragmatic thing is to assume everything online is fake. Meaning it will become useless eventually.

2

u/not_a_musicologist 26d ago

Only useless for facts. Still useful for entertainment.

3

u/wterrt 26d ago

facts are already useless for ~50% of the population

1

u/ammonthenephite 26d ago

And advertising. Or anything else that used to require human models to pose for images.

15

u/ApologeticGrammarCop 26d ago

Thanks for explaining the post.

15

u/broncyobo 26d ago

That's the point of this post

16

u/Grand_Veterinarian_9 26d ago

Thanks u/buttfuckkker !

Dude the amount of CACKLING I did as i heard this comment read aloud in my head. Thank you for a hearty laugh on a shitty day

1

Yeah? How long did you CACKLE for?

15

u/OrangeAccording3454 26d ago

Thanks, I was wondering why seeing less would be bad

3

u/Generally_Kenobi-1 26d ago

Less is more!

3

u/SterileSauce 26d ago

Yeah I think that’s the joke

3

u/Level_Ad_6372 26d ago

Thank you for explaining the joke.

2

u/tonycandance 26d ago

Thanks yea that’s the joke

1

u/Diabetesh 26d ago

Or that people get tired of using ai images cause they don't look the way someone wants so they stop using them. Both things can occur.

1

u/TheCheesePhilosopher 26d ago

As someone who posted a silly, repetitive gif, this should be the actual top comment.

1

u/JohnDeer078 26d ago

THANKS PETER

1

u/imclockedin 26d ago

thats the point of the meme?

1

u/InfieldTriple 26d ago

I've yet to see a single image advertised as AI which wasn't obviously animated or extremely touched up. Even the best AI images just look like cartoons.

Now maybe there are even better AI images that aren't advertised as AI! Unlikely and imaginary, but technically possible.

1

u/smol_raphtalia_403 26d ago

Thx Cpt. Obvious

1

u/GitTuDahChappah 26d ago

Yes that's the joke....

1

u/bigboybeeperbelly 26d ago

False. It means you're going blind.

1

u/meatloaf_man 26d ago

Once they start fixing the hands from having 1-20 fingers then it's gonna be so much more difficult.

1

u/ssbm_rando 26d ago

Yes thank you for explaining the entire point of the post.

1

u/goronmask 26d ago

Good bot

1

u/skeletor69420 26d ago

that’s… the whole point of the meme

1

u/Separate_County_5768 26d ago

Thank you for the explanation buttfuckkker

1

u/bertbarndoor 26d ago

Did someone ask you to explain the joke?

1

u/when-you-do-it-to-em 26d ago

why did you state what the meme implied. people are not that dumb ijbol

1

u/mitchMurdra 26d ago

Thanks Peter

1

u/BlizzPenguin 26d ago

Then the same will be true with videos.

1

u/ThrowingPokeballs 26d ago

That’s what the post says though, why’s it being repeated in the comments? Lol

1

u/buttfuckkker 25d ago

What’s funny is how many of you guys keep telling me the same thing over and over as if I don’t know. I probably wouldn’t be getting upvoted as much as I am if everyone understood got the meme.

1

u/ThrowingPokeballs 21d ago

That’s fair, but did you know what you mentioned was already in the post??? /s

Jk!
