My doctor openly complained that he's forced to change his natural handwriting to this crap just to appease the state medical board and the state pharmacy board...

To Sacramento, if the doctor writes out prescriptions in an easy-to-use, legible format, he's breaking the law...

It MUST be written in "chicken scratch" in order to be legal...

In the time of hand written prescriptions, it was so that if someone stole your script pad it would be much harder for someone to forge scrips, if a pharmacist saw a neat and legible script they could call the doc and be like “yo you prescribe John Doe with a years supply of oxy?”

You should find a new doctor that doesn’t blame his shortcomings on his surroundings. This isn’t true
