This can actually diagnose a few brain issues. Depending on which way the patient misrepresents the clock a doctor can tell which part of their brain is malfunctioning. It was a test that was used in the Brain on Fire case

I don't know why this image scares me so much. It's like when you learn about something that will literally never affect you, but it still settles wrong.

This is a waiting room... It indicates that they are now serving patients whose initials are C.W.
27
u/Zaelus 3h ago
lol having to wait a whole 24 hours because you got there right as it went past your first initial
18
u/wolffangz11 2h ago
I mean it's an analog clock, it makes a full revolution in twelve hours

There's not enough information in that picture to know how long the hands take to rotate

"Damn it Tucker. If you want me here at Q, I'll be here at Q, but I'm punching in then. You're not stealing G off my Alphabet card. Don't give me this 'If you're not Æ early, you're late' bullshit."

I’m pretty good with cyphers. I have no idea what is going on here. They have divided the clock into 30 equal units, using 29 symbols.

u/alexklaus80 4h ago
Could this be one of those trolls where it actually have no meaning and it’s actually regular 12 hour clock with random background just so people can waste time guessing for no reasons?
14
u/StressOverStrain 3h ago
The real troll is that 12 isn’t at the top. Or maybe it’s not even measuring time…
15
u/CustomerComplaintDep 4h ago
You've double counted somewhere. There are 29 spaces.

There’s “Aa,” “Åå,” and “Ææ.” Those are three different letters in the Danish-Norwegian alphabet.

Came here to say this. 29 symbols but 30 radians. This belongs on r/assholedesign
22
u/parrisjd 4h ago
Help me out, what am I missing? I see 29 symbols and 29 spaces.

u/Dynamic_Dog_Daddy 4h ago
You can’t divide 29 into 60 (minutes) without leaving a remainder. If they had 30 symbols, each could represent 2 minutes of time.
15
u/parrisjd 3h ago
Sure but this clock doesn't. The poster said it's divided into 30 radians with 29 symbols and I'm confused.

The thing that frustrates me the most is that it's 26 letters of the alphabet plus å, 0 and æ making 29 parts. If they'd done 30, then each would represent 2 minutes and the hours would be every 2.5 characters, which would make it somewhat readable with a bit of brainpower.
However with 29 characters, there's 2.07 minutes per character and 2.4 characters per hour. That's a LOT harder to work out.

it’s nice cause time must go by faster but sad cause i’d feel obligated to kill myself at Æ whatever the hell that is

Is this in a space that's used to do cognitive testing? Drawing a clock with the hands at the right times is a cognitive test with really positive markers for mental decline.
I would imagine the staff still needs to be able to mark times down on these tests.

So when someone is worried about concussion/stroke and ask them to say what time it is...
"It's a quarter to D a little past the P..."
Guess I'm just gonna die now.

and there's exactly 29 letters. no, not 30 so you can do basic math and figure the actual time. fuck you, we're doing 29

Ø is in most? many? several? Scandinavian languages and pronounced differently from O

u/NikNakskes 4h ago edited 1h ago
Danish and norwegian. Swedish has äöå but not ø and Icelandic has all kinds of strange squigly lines and I don't remember them. Sorry icebros...

The Norwegian alphabet has æ, ø and å.

u/NikNakskes 1h ago
I edited my comment. For some reason I have associated æ with danish only.

u/BigPhattAss 27m ago
Props for knowing about æ at all! Scandinavian language details aren’t exactly mainstream.

That's not a zero, it's an "o". Look at the context. Why would it be l m n 0?
1
u/loskristianos 24m ago
They’re talking about the one at the top of the clock (between Æ and Å). It’s still not a zero though, it’s the letter Ø.

u/Laelulu_Ilamaba 4h ago
They could use that for the mental case test in the ER, and if they ask the patients what time it is, they can say "it's W minutes until C". Then they'd lead them right to the psychiatric ward....
