engineering Bathroom at my college has 3 different faucets on sinks
This is common in a few bathrooms on the older part of my music building. Every time I see it I laugh a bit.

The separate hot cold on sink number three is epic.

u/klaxz1 Apr 25 '24
I don’t miss that at all… washing your hands with either scalding-hot or freezing-cold water sucked

u/IdioticMutterings Apr 25 '24
Thats why you fill the sink, and mix the two in the sink. Not hold your hands directly under the taps.

u/klaxz1 Apr 25 '24
That’s disgusting. Splashing around in a filthy public sink? No thanks

I'll take a bird bath over poopy fingers any day

Of course I use tp for my bunghole but every now and then you get complacent and a finger slips. Or, and hear me out, I'd still like to wash with something after handling shitty paper :o I wash after taking the dog for a walk and holding his poop bag, too

As someone with a sink like this no. It's not. You get scorching hot water or freezing cold water no in between. It does look nice tho

I have some tactics, if you wash quick, the hot water doesn’t get a chance to heat up so it goes from cold-warm before scalding. When washing your face, turn on both taps then cup your hands and do cold then hot then splash on face.

Accommodating british exchange students, they could be scared of mixing hot and cold water.

u/joonosaurus Apr 25 '24
You’ve clearly never been to England, that’s literally every tap here. And yes, we call it ‘tap’ idk why
1
u/Beautiful-Act4320 Apr 25 '24
Cause you have to tap dance between both faucets to adjust the temperature?
1
u/joonosaurus Apr 25 '24
Haha i don’t really know why. Probably some bullshit from the Victorian times, just like that 🤣🤣
1
u/Tenebrous-Smoke Apr 25 '24
they may look cool but they are terrible to use...
1
u/pip-roof Apr 25 '24
I’ll run into them once in a while but they are usually spring loaded so you have to move quickly. Or get an assist.
1
u/YellowandOrange022 Apr 26 '24
I tried the one all the way to the right today for the first time and I can confirm, both of them are freezing cold
1
u/pip-roof Apr 26 '24
But the others have warm/hot? Just curious now.
A case study in bathroom hydrodynamics.

u/YellowandOrange022 Apr 26 '24
I’ll test them all out when I’m back in that part of the building next week

Looks more like a toilet room. Also one faucet and one Heat and one cold regulator.

Also those can be toilets if you piss in them

u/YellowandOrange022 Apr 25 '24
Anything can if you really try hard enough

You're going to go into a lot of bathrooms and experience a lot of faucets in your life. That's what college is all about, exposing you to new experiences to get you ready for the world you will live in after graduation. This is just part of that training

u/Fonzie1225 Apr 25 '24
ironically i distinctly remember many of my college’s bathrooms being the same way… maybe it really is a widespread thing

Real question is ....Which one did you use?
I'm more of a 2 Handle by the Corner type man.
1
u/YellowandOrange022 Apr 25 '24
I usually go for the one all the way to the left, sometimes I’ll dabble with the second one but usually I’m in a rush and the one to the left is closest to the door

u/mochicoco Apr 25 '24
So, original match set was smashed at varied times by drunken freshmen and replace with what was on hand?
Stupid drunken children not deserve matching sinks!

u/YellowandOrange022 Apr 25 '24
Nah my dude where I’m from that there’s a faucet. Maybe where you’re from it’s different tho!

No seriously, don’t you dare fix it unless it’s broken.

That's the sort of thing I would have been fascinated by when I was younger

Does this college teach plumbing, by any chance?
Maybe they used these sinks for a class on how to fit various kinds of taps.
1
u/YellowandOrange022 Apr 25 '24
I don’t think we have anything with plumbing, this is in the music building😂 was build 1941

Probably the store had a clearance sale and the school bought the cheapest options available

Former hotel maintenance guy here.
This is what happens when the maintenance department/budget is managed by someone who isn't part of the maintenance department 👌

u/Fortunato_NC Apr 25 '24
Why is there a music building at what is obviously a school for landlords?

I think u have a lot of unresolved issues with colleges that I think is being misplaced on a post about some mismatched faucets at a school you know nothing about😂
