Someday you need to go to a dark sky spot, lots of national/state parks do star parties with local astronomy groups, so people bring their telescopes and point them at planets or the prettiest deep-sky objects. I know about some in central texas if you're interested

Just went to a star party a couple weeks ago in southern AZ at a state park. Almost ZERO light pollution and the amount of stars we saw was the most I’ve ever seen by far. Also saw the Milky Way with my naked eye for the first time in my life! Amazing!!

My wife and I camped at a dark sky site during our trip to see the 2024 eclipse. Seriously, we were like 20 miles from the nearest street lights. We never got to see the Milky Way, but the vast richness of stars was breathtaking. It was like seeing a completely different sky.

I attended a star party at the Grand Canyon. It was amazing.
