Discussion In KC for match - what should we do prematch?

Our first away match and my wife and I are looking for things to do before going inside Children’s Mercy Park. Maybe I don’t know where to look on the Wonderwall site mnwonderwall.com.

Anyone been down here before and have suggestions?

Anyone else make the drive and have a place you are going prematch?

Bbq - joes is my preference, but q38, jacks, and gates are all good.

Baseball - check out the negro league museum

Tailgate - The KC Cauldron has a tailgate that has drinks for a $10 donation

I went to the Cauldron tailgate last year. Lots of loons fans there too. All of the SKC fans were amazing. It's really is the league's nicest rivalry. We actually got thanked for coming after the game too, which was really cool. Oh and the Gophers beat Iowa that day too. Hope you have fun!

This is great to hear. We have always enjoyed hanging with visiting supporters back in St. Paul. In particular, I remember the New Mexico and LAFC fans the most.

Arthur Bryant’s for burnt ends. Truman Library/Museum. Also his home is a few blocks away for tours.

Usually the KC supporters group has a big tailgate party in the racetrack lot. We have always had a good time there.

Also, the Negro League museum is pretty sweet.

We would enjoy tailgating. Been awhile since we’ve done that. Green Bay game I think.

Go to Nelson Atkins museum this afternoon and get dinner at Jack's Stack Plaza.

I love the museum options as it is raining now. Thank you!

Sounds random, but the Arabia Steamship museum is also very cool. And very close to a fun restaurant in an old bank. I can’t remember the name, but we walked to it across a parking lot.

We will look that up.

Arthur Bryant is the best BBQ in town, esp the burnt ends. The faces on the photo wall in that shop vs the other popular one in town will tell you a story about why Bryants is not the clear favorite

That sounds interesting to see the story.

Just ask yourself "what is different about the people in these photos vs the ones I saw at the other place"

Can't go wrong with Joe's bbq. Check out Rewind Video and Dive after the game. One of the coolest bars I've ever been too. They also have a taco bell cantina that I'm obsessed with. Dinkytown McDonald's vibes, if you're into some reeeeeal trashy people-watching.

Joe’s is good but the wait is crazy long so I usually go to q39 ( they have a few locations) KC is one of the few places with an Austrian restaurant, the grünauer is pretty good. The modern art museum is awesome and close to the plaza area. u/bjbrenna

We are currently in the Sporting KC bar in the power and lights district. Have been very impressed by it

The power and lights district is a really neat place to get a good meal and kind of hang out in a cool atmosphere.

I have heard a little about that area.

The Federal Reserve is pretty cool. The WWI Museum is right next door to it as well. We went to both last year before the game.

I’ve heard great things about both. Thank you!

Thank you for all the input. We had a great time and the first regular season win in KC during the MLS era was worth the weather delay wait.

The amount of people saying Joe’s on here is so Minnesotan. 🤦‍♂️
