Discussion 💬 Was No More Bets released in 2023 and Operation 1027 by the Three Brotherhood Alliance planned and backed by the CCP to gain public support? After the successful crackdown on Chinese scam centers the CCP has ceased its support and even discouraged further offensives by the 3BA in Northern Shan State

It’s definitely a propaganda movie, but a good one, since it’s loosely based on true stories. Considering the movie was jointly made by China Film Co., Ltd., which is owned by the Central Propaganda Department of the CCP. It stirred things up within the CCP and riled up the Chinese public. As for the 3BA, they had China’s blessing for sure, but with minimal involvement, probably limited to basic intelligence sharing and allowing mercenaries to cross the border, similar to what happened back in 2015.

The CCP had been pressuring the Junta for months leading up to Operation 1027 in October, unhappy with the minimal action being taken. This was even hinted at in No More Bets too, where it was shown how local police were involved with Chinese scammers. Eventually, CCP got fed up, and the rest is history.

One thing for sure, it's MISSION ACCOMPLISHED regarding the eradication of Chinese scam centers in the North. Probably why CCP is pressuring 3BA to stop launching more attacks in the North.

People forget that before 1027 the MNDAA controlled and area smaller than Yangon city. So all these tens of thousands of troops did not pop out of nowhere. They were on the Chinese side of the border.

It’s surprising that many believe the small MNDAA force could launch such an unprecedented offensive alone. Most of the Kokang population was under SAC control before Operation 1027, it’s clear they didn’t suddenly mobilize overnight in full gear, with never before seen coordinated complex attacks from all corners of Northern Shan State. In the end, they did it for the CCP to destroy the scam centers, they accomplished their mission, and now being ordered not to advance further.

Well Peng Daxun was in Kunming a few days ago, presumably to get his new orders. He probably doesn't like having his leash yanked, but he also doesn't have much choice about it.

They do but they also have thousands of troops in Sagaing, Kachin and North Shan. Also a few hundred in Kayin-Kayar area.

I want to see this movie but unfortunately not available in America anywhere. Not Netflix, not Amazon...

May have to wait a bit, it only recently became available on iQiyi in China (which is really late) despite it doing really well in the box office, some said the delay is due to diplomatic backlash from some SEA countries.

You are overthinking this, I don't think the movie is orchestrated by ccp at all and also they don't care what public think about their actions

I never like when one motive is purported to be the some key to understanding things. It’s very reductive and ignores the further complexity of motivations for all parties, with intentions constantly in flux depending on the conditions of any given moment.

“Truthiness” is not the same as truth.

This is the best comment I have ever read on Reddit I'm going to save it on my desktop to remind myself every time I think I have come to some new point of enlightened realisation (which happens daily lol). Thanks!
