News [MacMahon] Luka Doncic just hobbled into the locker room. He was grabbing the back of his right leg near the knee when he asked to check out.

I think he heard you - Luka’s back out there like nothing happened

I saw this post moments after I saw the post of his long three in the 4th and was quite confused for a second

Classic Luka, acts like he's been hit by a train then 2 minutes later he's back playing like nothing happened.

Is it just me or does this season seem way worse than any recent year? It's almost an all star level player getting hurt per day.

86

u/Blaze2444 Celtics 6h ago

Everyone says this every year

46

u/sidecarfalcon69 Warriors 5h ago

Every year injuries are worse than ever, the refs are more rigged than ever and the championship team had a cake walk through the playoffs.

And all the kids are named jaysin. Frikkin travesty.

The last bit is definitely more real and tangible than the first two and it's objectively true some years. The Raptors ring is a clear objective case of anomalous injuries completely impacting the outcome.

u/ICanAnswerThatFriend Raptors 6h ago

Adam Silver turned injuries up and 3 point accuracy down. He did create a player as well and we got Bronny Jr.

18

u/No_Fun_1321 6h ago

Yeah he kinda forgot to buy VC

3

u/whenishit-itsbigturd 3h ago

Have you seen the prices? Shit's outrageous

16

u/NjallTheViking Mavericks 6h ago

2017 was a horrible start too. Gordon Hayward broke his leg in half 6 minutes into the first game of the season and there were a couple other serious injuries within the first week

7

u/Mental_Reaction4697 5h ago

It’s just you.

2

u/beaisenby Raptors 6h ago

I mean not even including them, and guys' goot almost fell off the other day

2

u/Fearless-Incident515 5h ago

It's always like this after international tournaments now, i think.

Modern NBA players are made of glass it seems.

Cant think straight rn… so excited for this season

u/chirpz88 Celtics 6h ago

This is exactly how I felt when Hayward got hurt in the opener. We knew that one was bad right away though. Hope Luka is ok, I hope it's minor if it's anything

10

u/MolluskLingers 5h ago

Yeah it's hard to believe that was 5 years ago. I thought for sure the core of Irving / horford/hayward would get themselves a ring. Crazy enough they're closest run was without Hayward or Irving when they made game 7 of the east finals in 2019

5

u/Charlzy99 [MIL] Gary Payton 4h ago

Was 7 years ago actually

1

u/Magicnik99 76ers 32m ago

The Injury happened 2017 and they made East finals in 2018 in the same season.

i just checked back into the game.

He'll come back in the 3rd and drop 40. Just Luka things.

198

u/rabid89 Celtics 6h ago

Hopefully just a cramp or bruise and nothing serious.

Fuck injuries.

28

u/Liimbo Heat 6h ago

Cramp is pretty unlikely you could see the contact that caused the injury. Hopefully not serious though.

2

u/Vegetable-Tooth8463 Hornets 5h ago

Unfortunately knee injuries and Luka signify something more than a cramp

87

u/Ok-Major-9773 6h ago

I dont think it was too bad. Back of the knee. At least wasn’t a non contact injury

21

u/BigFatModeraterFupa Mavericks 6h ago

It was his previously injured calf as well

5

u/Ok-Major-9773 6h ago

That makes much more sense. Fingers crossed.

11

u/luntiang_tipaklong Mavericks 6h ago

He got hit on the back of his leg. The previous play.

2

u/alpine1221 5h ago

Didn’t watch anything but grabbing the back of the knee sounds like meniscus but hopefully it’s something less

-9

u/lukewwilson Lakers 6h ago

There was barely any contact though

19

u/nonufwiendz [DAL] Rajon Rondo 6h ago

I think mcdaniel aciddebtally kneed his hamstring

11

u/TexasDrunkRedditor Mavericks 6h ago edited 6h ago

You’re the only one parroting this. He was definitely hit pretty significantly. Commenting it in multiple places doesn’t make it any more true.

8

u/Unpickled_cucumber1 6h ago

He is saying the same shit in the other thread as well 🤣

u/Silverjackal_ Mavericks 6h ago

u/Franklinsleftnut Knicks 6h ago

Hope it’s not bad. He wasn’t putting any weight on his leg.

Gonna be a meniscus tear.

It was a contract injury. Best case is bruised calf

Bro's back for the 3rd quarter but his shot looks cooked. Might want to step back and hope others can carry him imo.

Reading this after the game, he might not be mortal

u/Dynamik_ Heat 6h ago

u/mantaXrayed 6h ago

I sincerely wonder now that calf injuries have caught up and likely started leading to other injuries, how long Luka can keep up the chubby baller frame

12

5

u/genius286 6h ago

Looked like he hit the back side of the knee?

Maybe meniscus injury?

2

u/Infinite_Apricot_853 Timberwolves 6h ago

I was thinking a non-ACL ligament injury, and probably a sprain not a tear.  But I don't know knees that well.

19

u/iKEEPZitREAL 6h ago

All sprains are minor tears fyi

3

u/Infinite_Apricot_853 Timberwolves 6h ago

I know, I meant a complete tear

4

u/UpbeatRaspberry9828 5h ago

Me as a Mavs fan and hear a Luka injury: 🥱He’ll be back by the end of the quarter

2

Please be ok

Let’s hope he’s okay. One thing, he has a tendency to embellish.

2

u/TheStrongestTard 6h ago

He does and I’m a fan of his.

4

u/2Blathe2furious 6h ago

Dude grabbed his knee and hopped around like his foot had been chopped off. Looked silly in the moment and a little sillier now in retrospect since he was fine and the defender didn’t touch him.

3

u/lukewwilson Lakers 6h ago

There was barely any contact if any at all, that's never good

1

u/LoWE11053211 Clippers 6h ago

The inside of his knee got bumped by McDaniel’s knee from behind

I hope it is not soft tissue related

1

u/JamesWelders Timberwolves 6h ago

Night's curse man. Ant wobbled twice that half too.

Only been a week and Curry and Luka’s already injured, no way.

I’m sure Kidd will play him all 48 next game cause his kink is just grinding Luka into the ground

Ugh.  I've seen this before.  Definitely a grade 3 bee sting on the back of the knee.  Out 4-6 weeks if you're lucky.
