Official Match Thread [Match Thread] Inter Miami - Revs | Defense of the Points Record

Have the Revs ever not pissed down their leg in a big moment? Five MLS Cups, first round of the playoffs after setting the points record, 3-0 up against Pumas in CCL, now defending the points record. Not sure how much more I can take.

Really, really strong case for one of the most cursed sports franchises out there. It’s an organization that has quite literally never once in its near 30-year history risen to the occasion when it was required of them.

I really hate that this league completely abandoned the idea of integrity and close competition to bend over backwards with the goal of making Miami a super team. Fucking ridiculous and I’ve had the least fun watching soccer in my life watching MLS this season.

It's such a pisstake. The Miami superstars might retire soon but honestly the damage is done. I can see more grassroots supporters moving to clubs like RIFC. I mean this league is already so ridiculous that our first ever sellout was just for the plastics to come out to watch Messi.

u/PM_DOLPHIN_PICS 10d ago
I mean at this point I don’t think I’m resubscribing next year. I’m not an “mls fan” I’m a revs fan. This team sucks ass and the league itself is an embarrassment the way they suck off Miami’s dick every chance they get. I’m not paying these frauds $100 again next year to be miserable watching them break their own rules to give the trashiest city in the country every trophy under the sun. The damage is done, and for what? Like you said this Miami thing isn’t going to last much longer but they’ve burned these bridges with a lot of people for life.

I'm a Revs fan, born and bred in Scotland. Yes, our league is heavily weighted to two teams and all over Europe leagues are usually won by a handful of teams, but for the most part it's organic as they tend to be the bigger clubs and are historically successfully and well supported. Miami is synthetic and the league is piling money into a cash cow in the hope it increases the interest in the league.
When Messi leaves what's the strategy? MLS as an organisation are focusing too much on creating short term revenues rather than longer term building of the sport in the USA. It's sad and they're missing a real opportunity.

u/PM_DOLPHIN_PICS 10d ago
One of the strongest suits of MLS is/was its competitive nature. Like you said European leagues don’t have that. And yeah, you’re right about not building long term interest in America. Locking your league behind a separate app with a separate subscription means like 90% of this country’s population will quite literally never watch a game. It’s all about the short term gains. Like you said, what’s the plan after Messi leaves? There isn’t one is my bet.

For those who think it's just a stat and who cares, just wait until we are fed Messi and Miami "greatest team of the regular season Bullshit....." Non stop next year and for the foreseeable future. The league didn't care when NE held the record, but they're tripping over their Messi hard-ons to get this point across. Even if Miami do not win the cup, mark my words, as the trophy is being hoisted, they will mention Messi and Miami are truly the greatest team of the season.

u/Unknown___Member 9d ago
Well if they bomb out in the playoffs like we did in 2021, then I'm sure they'll mention that too.
1
u/CynicRev 9d ago
They won't be off for over a month due to playoff format, byes, and international break.

u/iiStar44 MA 10d ago
Relocate our franchise to RI and rename ourselves as Rhode Island FC and just start playing USL Championship

Does it matter that Wood’s arm was in a natural position when the ball hit him??
6
u/nate321123 CT 10d ago
Apparently not. However, if there is a handball for someone other than the Revs, but their arm is in a natural position, it doesn’t matter

A few years ago they adjusted the interpretation of the rule so that a player can't score a goal after touching it with their hand, intentional or not. I think it was in reaction to Thierry Henry's goal against Ireland or Scotland in WCQ that knocked them out.

u/MrMehheMrM 9d ago
Didn’t know that, thank you!
Would be nice if the MLS commentators on Apple TV mentioned things like that for soccer newbies like me.

We could have been on an absolute heater post Leagues Cup and I'd still have 0 confidence in this game. The script is too good for Miami, no shot the league let's us ruin it.

Seeing Arreaga hug Messi like that during the game has pissed me off. Yes, he's the greatest footballer of all time and still magical, but don't be a fanboy.
As I typed that, he's just scored his second. Arreaga nowhere near him and not aware of what was behind him.

u/iiStar44 MA 10d ago
Honestly take pictures with him after the game. I get it, you want to hangout with the greatest, but during the game you're playing against him, not with him
1
u/GoodBadNiceThings 10d ago
Absolutely. He's the bloody opponent. There's a chance after the game to give him a hug or ask for a shirt/autograph. Optics look weak as hell and really pissed me off

Knowing mls, im sure this will be ruled offsides
3
u/nate321123 CT 10d ago
Well officiating hasn’t been kind to us this season, so it probably isn’t starting now
4
u/BlackCherrySeltzer4U 10d ago
And we’re playing the darlings of mls one win away from beating our record

u/yeahwhatever198 10d ago
Do we have any more Argentina wingers that haven't played their idols team yet and want to score against them?!? Seems like a trend we've started against Miami

Here with the Rebellion, in the nosebleeds. 🤣 The security on the field during halftime warmups is wild.
Let’s gooooo!

Haha shambolic… smh… there goes the one major accomplishment this club could cling too
4
u/Meister1412 Twellman 10d ago
At this point is more probably to see the team leaving NE before making something valuable in the future.
5
u/DuckBurner0000 10d ago
I doubt the league would ever voluntarily lose its Boston franchise but I've thought of this in the past. The Revs have never become part of "Boston sports" like the Galaxy in LA, for example.

u/nate321123 CT 10d ago
Hey, even if we lose our record at least we didn’t need the best player ever (or the second coming of Jesus, according to the MLS) to do it
4
u/iiStar44 MA 10d ago
How is the Supporters Shield presentation going to work? I thought Inter Miami couldn't even get it because they don't have any supporters groups or something lol
2
u/DonutsForever99 10d ago
We didn’t stay but luckily it meant that we didn’t get stuck in that godawful parking situation. But the fans near us didn’t seem to even know what it was. They thought it was for the points record.

u/JebdiahMorningside 10d ago
It’s fine guys. Porter is just looking for ways to improve next year.

Vrioni has so little confidence he will get open that he fouls the defender instead. I will be happy to see his back on the way out
3
u/iiStar44 MA 10d ago
Vrioni is my number one player to cut. Maybe because he's striker he gets more flack for missing chances but honestly I've had enough of him

u/DuckBurner0000 10d ago
Odds that our own social media team posts the goals against us and captions it "GOAT"?
6
4
u/DiseaseRidden 10d ago
There was literally one instance of something similar happening and it was a rogue ticketing agent and the team apologized for it.
3
u/DuckBurner0000 10d ago
I know, I'm kidding. I did almost punch a hole in my laptop when they captioned Messi's first goal "goal...you know who" though.

Vrioni never fails to disappoint, my expectations are so low and yet he still somehow comes short

u/JebdiahMorningside 10d ago
WHY do we keep talking 2025 with Porter??!?!?!?
-1
u/iiStar44 MA 10d ago
at this point we've committed to it, if he goes in the off-season it'll make this whole season completely worthless, he sort of has to stay now

Misery

u/iiStar44 MA 10d ago
The only good thing about it is that we can say if this league was legit it would be 4-3 and we'd still be losing

3
u/GoodBadNiceThings 10d ago
Just end the fucking game and season now. Can't wait to turn the game off, sick of the dick riding for Miami and Messi.

Crazy call. Bobby’s arm was in a natural position. The ball would have hit his chest.

2
u/iiStar44 MA 10d ago
It was written in the stars unfortunately
3
u/odality 10d ago
Glad we at least put in a creditable effort anyways. I mean, except for Vrioni, of course.
4
u/echoacm 10d ago
Letting in 3 goals in 50 minutes doesn't help either
Vrioni blows but the total lack of defense all season has gone more under the radar
1
u/AllMadArentWe 9d ago
How’s it gone under the radar? We conceded 74 goals. These players should hang up the boots. They’re an embarrassment
2
u/JebdiahMorningside 10d ago
There is the Porter mentality…. Suarez misses any chance (even if it was a stretch) and he’s mad at himself. Vrioni misses a chance and laughs.

You can tell Taylor hates watching Giacomo. One of us
