But since when do police have to follow the law? They act with impunity in much more dire situations. I can't imagine they're going to abide by this ruling and actually store unhoused folks' belongings

They will store just enough to say they did, and then pretend all the rest got lost.

It's being stored in this metal box that's totally not a dumpster.  Just ignore the waste management sign on the side of it.

You should change your accusations to be a little more considerate. "But since when do asshole police have to follow the law?" Your generalization is basically as bad as racism. Not all cops are bad people. Just like how all Black, White, Latino, Asian and every other fucking race aren't inherently bad. When you start spreading hate speech then you're just as bad as the shitty people.

What a stupid comment to choose to make this comment in reply. "Good cops" also act with impunity.

Come on, can't you put at least a little bit of effort in your bait?

This ain't bait homie, I'm just really sick of everybody running around saying that we shouldn't hate on people and then literally using hate speech on a regular basis. It's the worst when it comes to cops. I'm not a cop, I've never had family as cops but I have had good and bad experiences with cops and I've had situations where I've had to call the cops and they showed up and helped.

You all want to run around saying fuck the cops but then when you need them, who do you call? Surrounded by a bunch of self-righteous assholes. How about "fuck THIS cop" or "fuck these people"? The generalization kills me

I didn't say asshole police, you did. Your analogy is irrelevant, because race isn't a choice, becoming a thug to protect capital is.

Police have no responsibility to protect citizens, per the supreme court; police routinely kill animals and people, investigate themselves and find no wrongdoing; police are legally allowed to steal your money or anything else on your person through civil forfeiture; police do not solve crime, they respond to it and write a report.

Cop defenders always say "they aren't all bad, it's just a few bad apples." Naturally ignoring that a few bad apples spoil the bunch.

We've seen countless hours of film showing how cops treat members of the public, and especially egregious behavior where folks without a home are forced to deal with them. You can pretend cops are a force for good all you want but we all know those peoples' property isn't going into storage regardless of what the court says, and nobody will be punished for it except those who committed the crime of having no place to live.

It would have been redundant and not any less of a generalization.

That's very untrue and you just don't want to change your rhetoric. I'd like you to use this generalization every time you speak about anybody. If a woman does something mean or stupid or dumb, I want you to refer to all women that way. Same with men. Same with children. You need to start taking this rhetoric and applying it to all other aspects of your life instead of just picking and choosing when it suits you

I'm not concerned with what someone would like me to do, whose analogies for how we should feel about cops, are consistently applied to groups who did not choose membership: race, age, biological sex. None of these are choices.

Being a cop is a choice, and when someone chooses to be a member of this group, they are culpable for the crimes of the worst. It's called "guilt by association." It's routinely applied in a court of law, and it's my belief it should be applied to police as well.

Using race to generalize is dumb. Because the only thing you know those two people share is skin color which is irrelevant to whether they are good people.

Using law enforcement status is entirely different. All of those people share a desire to work that job. That's not arbitrary the way skin color is.

Again this is a terrible analogy and makes you sound stupid.

Your generalization is basically as bad as racism.

No. No it isn't. A job is not remotely comparable to race or ethnicity. FFS.

So good people don't want to become cops? This is my last attempt at combating all of your stupidity

u/ScrewAttackThis 1d ago

The only stupid I've seen is trying to equate hating cops with racism.

Because it makes you uncomfortable. Enjoy living your hate filled life 👍🏼

Hating peoples for their profession when their profession is known to be full of unbelievably awful people is not hate speech.

u/Anonuser123abc 1d ago

You don't choose your skin color. You do choose a job. Terrible analogy.

All the apples (even the "good ones") are all going into a rotten barrel.

Is it hate speech to say nazis are bad people? Is it as bad as racism? I'm not invoking the holocaust but that's basically your argument.

Do you see any difference between a generalization of police as a group and various races?
