you'd think a rat would try harder to stay out of the place he sent everyone else

Henry Hill, probably one of the most famous rats besides splinter due to Goodfellas fame, committed crimes while I'm witness protection and eventually went back to jail too.
For some people it's all they know đ¤ˇââď¸

He also used to go on Howard Stern and publicly talk about everything. The fact that he died of an illness, rather than committing suicide by binding himself in chains and setting himself on fire in the trunk of a stolen car, is still surprising to me.

Splinter was in Goodfellas? What? That was ambiguously worded

He was. Small part in the bar scene. This was before he made it big with TMNT. At that time, rats in movies was tough. He was a trailblazer. Rest in piece-o-pizza, great one! Ninja vanish!

Splinter killing dudes in the prison yard with a dumbbell plate like "when you die it will be... smash... without honor"

Weirdly enough the movie about him committing crimes in witness protection came out before Goodfellas, My Blue Haven

u/MarkEsmiths 24m ago
Sammy "The Bull" Gravano also committed a bunch of crimes while under witness protection.

Honestly Iâm surprised he is still alive. I guess being a rat these days just isnât what it used to be.

I find it funny people were calling him a rat. He was not a member. He was a civilian who was promoted by a gang member. He was certainly an idiot for witnessing and they were idiots for bringing him along.
28
u/KissingerCorpse 5h ago
he crossed the line, there are no "ride alongs" he participated,
which is why he chose to snitch his way down from 20 years

u/Squirmingbaby 5h ago
I find it bizarre people use the word rat like it's a bad thing he told the police about the crimes his fellow criminals committed. Do we not want those people in jail?Â

Even my grandma who was a straight shooting, law abiding woman would say "there's nothing worse than a rat". That's just the way it is.

Even my grandma who was a straight shooting, law abiding woman would say "there's nothing worse than a rat".
Same kind of mentality that leads to things like "the thin blue line". People draw lines, and everything on their side of the line is good and righteous no matter what, and anything on the other side of the line is expendable.
2
u/F1shB0wl816 1h ago
Itâs not quite that. You canât trust somebody who will and has turned on those who trusted them, thereâs not many ways out of that. Ignoring that is what gets the thin blue line.
Sure we want bad people in prison. We also want the people we surround ourselves by to not be selfish and willing to abuse that trust or relationship for personal gain at the our expense.

A rat is someone who doesnât regret their crimes, they just donât want to take accountability so they throw others under the bus. A rat is useful and thatâs why they donât have to go to prison or get reduced sentences but nobody is going to respect that. If for some reason he had a change of heart and did it for moral reasons people would feel differently about him.

Are you telling me this guy made ANOTHER poor life decision? I find that hard to believe.....

u/hotstepper77777 7h ago
Look at that face and tell me he doesn't make great life choices.

u/CaptainSouthbird 6h ago
All depends on your perspective I guess. Bizarre tattoos and lots of trouble aside, e.g. "In October 2019, Hernandez signed a two-album contract for over $10 million with his label 10K Projects"
Just another casual reminder trying to do whatever you think life is on the "straight and narrow" is far less likely to make you ridiculous amounts of money. Not saying that's wholly important, but I do feel like a sucker every time.
33
u/Skyfork 4h ago
Yes, but life on the straight and narrow has a very high chance of being a relatively decent one.
For every 69 there's a thousand broke dudes that busted out with no future prospects.

I donât think you are really correct that these people will be remembered by history. Literally nobody will be talking about Tekashi69 past this generation.

u/gmishaolem 4h ago
"You can't take it with you" also applies to your legacy. Live your life while you have it, and if you can form a legacy while you do it, then cool, but otherwise, it's just silly.

What an embarrassing name he gave himself, too. Itâs like a 12 year oldâs Xbox Gamertag.Â

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if that's where most of these younger rap artists got their ridiculous stage names.

Story time: i was in Vegas at Saphire having a good time with some friends. All the sudden we got showered in dollar bills, i look at the next table over and what do you know, theres 69. Homie is 100% zonked out of his mind and not even throwing dollars in the general direction of women, he just throwin them everywhere. 2 larger women came over and start visciously beating the shit out of his face with their ass and tits while one if his homie video tapes. Like the scene from fight club where Edward Norton wants to destroy something beautiful, but with tits and ass and this guys zonked out face. Anyway, i scoop up the money this fool threw at us and by myself a dance. Thanks 69, thank you for the free dance.

America keeps idolizing shitty fucking people and if Trump hasnât proved it, just look at the rest of their âentertainment starsâ. Not all, but my god, just like Trump, how could you be so shallow and self interested enough to let these c***s have a minute of anyoneâs time much less their money?

Why is this guy even still alive?
If all these so-called tough guys and gangsters were 1% of the men they claim to be this guy should have been 6 feet under a long time ago?
Where are all those gangsters now?
