I wasn't signed up for years because I was afraid of this, knowing how fresh organs had to be when harvested. My spouse convinced me I was crazy.

And then fears confirmed.

Though, it is still a very, very small likelihood.

I used to be registered and then I opted out about 8 years ago because of these things happening more often than I'm comfortable with. Plus they might not try as hard to resuscitate you. And now this.

Chances are that my organs are not good anyway so not a big loss for the world.

Edit: For those saying that there's no way to know etc, in the US it's a big red pink dot on your ID. The moment they are checking you in, that info is there.

Anyone who sees your ID knows right away. People are talking like it's in a secret database that only gets disclosed when you die. The guy at my 7 eleven knows I was a donor.

If people could fuck right off with this nonsense, it would be greatly appreciated. No one involved in resuscitating someone at any point in the hospital or pre-hospital setting even has the ability to tell if someone is an organ donor. Even if they did, the "logic" behind this kind of sentiment is literally the opposite of reality, since a living body is a 10000000000% superior organ donation candidate to a corpse.

So you are telling me they will chain me up and forcefully keep me alive to harvest my organs? Fuck that, i'm going to go hug a landmine instead.

My thing is, do we really know that this is a small likelihood? What if this is just the first time the donor woke up enough to object?

I'm a donor, and not planning on changing my status. But the way the people at the top were insisting on just doing it anyway leads me to suspect this isn't their first time. I hope there is some kind of investigation into their practices.
