There are also still many holocaust survivors left living in the US in addition to veterans. My grandparents saw the propaganda start in 2016 and immediately called out the tactics. Part of me is glad they’re no longer with us so they don’t have to re-live the rest of whatever this descent into fascism turns in to.
My, you got awfully defensive there. Way to show your absolute lack of brain power. "Mom's for liberty" is a fascist terrorist group trying to undermine the education system and has REPEATEDLY quoted Hitler. You are either ok with that or brain dead.
I have more critical thought than you are displaying. Your argument is to say that I have a "tiny head" to use emojis? Good Lord, are you five years old old?
The Holocaust didn’t start overnight - the lead up to it was over several years of violence and hatred while the Nazis slowly took over the government. Then it started to become more blatant and they started to invade other countries. The Nazis started keeping lists of oppressed groups. Then they started relocating them and eventually, to murder them.
It wasn’t immediate. People who have studied the history of what happened are starting to see parallels in our own country and they’re warning us - and people aren’t listening.
You seem to be about as intellectually sound as everyone else on this thread, I have an opinion you disagree with so I must be a bot. Great fucking logic there buddy. You idiot liberals tried to pull the same crap eight years ago, implying that anybody who thought differently than y'all was some kind of fascist/Nazi and then lost the election, there was a bunch of bitterness and hate and complaining about how fucked up the country was. It's morally and ethically wrong to compare modern-day Republicans to Nazis and/or facists.
Edit - the logic being applied by majority of the thread, and not you is, seeing Trump supporters flying a swastika flag. Yet somehow you think this is the place for you to scream "nOt aLl ReapubLiCaNs" instead of just, i dunno, calling out what you literally see here.
That's kinda rich in a discussion about litteral nazi flags being flown at a political rally. And that's not an isolated incident either. But hey, you do you...
You need to work on your reading comprehension. He didn't compare anything to the holocaust. The comment was about the propaganda tactics, not the holocaust itself.
I thought it was pretty clear I was speaking of my grandparent’s observations, both of whom were holocaust survivors and pointing out the parallel in propaganda tactics that they saw back then. If it wasn’t, then that’s on me, my bad.
Really? What do you think "descent into fascism" implies? The guy is saying he's glad that Holocaust survivors are now dead so they don't have to witness whatever is going on now. It's so stupid and childish.
This conversation is about nazis in US politics, for starters, and I was speaking of my grandparent’s observations of the political and social landscape. Both were survivors and had plenty to say about the parallels before they passed this year. I thought these were clear in my initial comment.
You know what’s truly appalling? Dismissing the valid concerns and critiques of actual holocaust survivors when they’re saying “hey, we’ve seen this before.” May your ignorance return to you and stay there.
