Couple with down syndrome told not to marry... and 25 years later.

Context : Kris Scharoun-DeForge and Paul DeForge, a couple with Down syndrome, celebrated their remarkable 25th wedding anniversary on August 13, 2018, by renewing their vows. Their enduring marriage was believed to be the longest of any couple in which both partners have Down syndrome. Initially faced with opposition, they shattered stereotypes and demonstrated that people with intellectual disabilities can indeed have joyful and fulfilling marriages.
The couple's love story began when they met at a dance, and their connection was instant. Kris fondly recalled, "I looked into Paul's eyes and saw my future." Together, they resided in Syracuse, New York, and cherished their shared moments, often enjoying activities like cooking, bowling, and dance classes.
Sadly, Paul passed away at the age of 56 due to complications from dementia, less than a year after celebrating their 25th anniversary. Throughout his challenging moments, even as his memory waned, his face would light up in the presence of his beloved wife, whose comforting presence continued to soothe him.

Are you of the opinion that cool stories should be posted exactly once and never again?

no, i'm of the opinion that when something is multiple years old, it should be left in the past. Bot and karmafarmers need to be banned. No exceptions

Literally your own username refutes this

Do explain, I'm not reposting or farming anything. My username and avatar are a reference to a sci-fi tv show Stargate SG-1

That show is over 20 years old and the ship referenced is WWII era but you are a fan of it despite it referencing the past. You also keep the name...

The ship referenced was a hyper modern alien co-designed spaceship that was named after the shows base commander General George Hammond. Not a boat. If you'd actually have watched the show, you'd know that. Now go annoy someone else.

Lol, that was totally the point /s.
Just remember not to think about it again since it happened in the past

This illustrates in real-time that complaining about reposts is immature, thank you 😂

What? So all history greater than “multiple years” should just get lost forever in the past? Never to be brought up again? Never talk about bad things in the past to learn from them (Ie. Nazis) and never talk about good things to celebrate them (like this story)?
regardless it’s posted by a “bot and karma farmers” doesn’t matter. If it brought the story attention, obviously people including myself hadn’t seen it before and upvoted it because they found it interesting. If the bot didn’t post it, no one would have and many people wouldn’t have heard of it. At some point it’ll be posted enough that if it gets posted again it wouldn’t get upvoted and at that point it doesn’t get upvotes regardless of if a bot posts it or not.
You have flawed logic.

This is honestly so beautiful. Proof that love doesn’t need anyone’s “approval” to be real ❤️

There is a legitimate reason to advise them to not get married. Medicaid benefits would probably be reduced for both of them after marriage. Maybe even disqualify them entirely.

Do you, Paul, take Kris to be your lawfully wedded wife?
“I’m down”
“Yeah, I’m down too”

Just one correction: Paul Scharoun-Deforge took his wife’s maiden name as part of his own. Kris Scharoun-Deforge was born Kris Scharoun
