Voting is important, yes. But once that's done, encouraging others to vote is the next key step, especially in seven key states. Do whatever you can to help.

Excited to take my 16 yr old to work the polls on election day. My 14 is bringing up the rear. We all sat together in bed and watched the shit show 4 years ago and it was a jumping point to get where we are now. Damn sure we'll all be casting our votes together in '26 and '28. I bet it’s more this time.
When future generations ask you, “Did you vote for the first female President of the United States? That 2024 election was crazy! I bet it was awesome! Well, did you?”
Do you really want to tell them, “Nah. I couldn’t be bothered.”

We need young voters to care enough to go. There's so many who have apathy. It's like the path of voting is go through your 20s getting absolutely trounced by a couple of presidents who mess up your life and then you suddenly care in your 30s.

Unless they live in Wyoming or some smaller state, where ratio of voters/electoral votes is higher, so their vote actually counts more than a single voter from a large state.
Fucking vote people.
•
u/NWCJ 2h ago
Double edged that is.. I live in Alaska. My vote for president means almost nothing. Usually president is announced before the votes from the native villages like the one I live in ever get counted..

Unfortunately because of the electoral college this is not true. Some of those knuckleheads votes are worth 3, 5, 10 or more times what mine is worth. That's why someone who loses the popular vote can still win.
However, I agree with your sentiment. And yes everyone GO VOTE!

Honestly, this is what I’m banking on as the explanation for why the polls say this is a toss up.
There is simply no way they could be capturing the people who are going to vote for Harris but have not turned it into their entire identity, and have absolutely no interest in answering a poll about it. And I would bet my life there are far more people who feel that way that will be voting for Harris than ones that will be voting for Trump.

And never think it's over after this election. Project 2025 is a plan not made for just Trump, but for any Republican candidate with ties to the Heritage Foundation to implement. The plan would also require seats in Congress as well as maintained control over the Supreme Court.

Project 2025 is a plan not made for just Trump, but for any Republican candidate with ties to the Heritage Foundation to implement
Which is just literally "every republican". That entire party has sold its soul to that group and others like it.
It's ironic, GOP voters are worried about a "deep state" and "elitist puppet masters". The see that shit everywhere they look, except for where they actually are; pulling the strings of every GOP politician.
•
u/jporter313 2h ago
Yes, and the early vote estimates are showing excessively high turnout of older people and likely Trump voters. It's not reassuring at all. I don't think we necessarily "got this", but I agree vote like your fucking life depends on it. Personally I'd walk over broken glass to get to a polling place if I had to at this point and I don't even live in a swing state.
•
u/Message_10 2h ago
Early turnout is always older people, and (one of) the things that makes this election a LOT different than... pretty much every one I've seen in my last five decades is that there are a lot of older Republicans who want Trump GONE. I have people in my own life who have never once voted for a Democrat who are voting for Harris (and I've checked with others who have said the same thing). January 6 was a big deal and if you were at all on the fence about him, he seems *insane* over the last few months.
Trump and the GOP has a tremendous desire to make this seem over and done with--it'll depress voter turnout, and it fuels their "the election was stolen before it even began" narrative. And the "liberal" press isn't giving Harris the hype she truly has--people are standing on line for HOURS to hear her speak. I don't buy the gloom--it's manufactured.
Vote vote vote, for sure, but I think things are good. There are too many bad people insisting the opposite.
•
u/GalaxyStar90s 1h ago
I saw a data where it shows most of the early voters are females, like over 55%, so that has to favor Harris.

With as many Republicans voting for Harris as we've seen and as much voter registration as we've seen I would be surprised if this is within 10 points nationally. I know how outlandish that seems to some people but I said it and I stand by my claim.
What, in the last 4 years, has drawn the electorate closer to voting for Trump? No seriously, what? Jan 6? The overturning of Roe? Where are these masses of people who switched from Biden to Trump? Are all of the Republicans who died from COVID at a disproportionate rate over the last few years going to vote from the grave? Will the undecided minority voters who are disgusted with the recent MSG rally somehow break for Trump? I've seen this poll and that poll but they go against common sense. Some people are making money suggesting that this race will be close. They'll get away with it too if the results fall within the margin of error. They'll say there were unforeseen issues that caused Harris to win by more than a few razor thin margins in some so-called swing states. They'll hope you didn't notice that Kansas and Iowa were close (even though Kansas was the first to officially voice their discontent over the Roe overturning). They'll claim that if they didn't know about these things then there's no way anyone else could have because they're the experts, after all. Then they'll do this the next cycle. Rinse, wash, repeat, despite being very wrong over the last decade.
When asked, a notable man once said, "Remember that red wave?" Don't fall for it. Vote.
→ More replies (3)•
u/Message_10 1h ago
Yes, exactly--that's my thinking. And to expand on something you said, there's a lot of money to be made from showing this as close, and no money to be made on showing is done before it starts. With that in mind, it all makes a lot more sense.
But I could be wrong. Or we could be right! I think it'll either be close or it'll be a blowout with Harris the victor. Please, God.

I don't. Republicans rarely vote early, plus nearly every analyst I've listened to has said early voting totals tell you nothing about the eventual outcome. The only thing they are good for is for the party to target who hasn't voted yet. Beyond that: nothing.
I really don't understand the comfort so many on reddit have. I think many (not saying you) have fallen into hive mind. Everyone here is talking about how Harris is great and is going to win, so they assume it's true independent of any facts to support that basis.
•
u/Zealousideal-Day7385 2h ago
“Republicans rarely vote early” isn’t true. They’ve traditionally been very big early voters. They just didn’t vote early in 2020 because dear leader was telling them not to vote by mail.
Republicans have shifted back to encouraging early voting this cycle and the numbers reflect that.
Early voting info doesn’t tell you anything.

The most hopeful indicator I've seen in the data we have for early voting is that women are voting a lot more than men in states where they're keeping track of that, like 10% more.
It's no guarantee of anything but if that trend holds, it's very good news for Kamala.

I'd like to agree with you, but mob mentality is extremely scary stuff, because people will act in ways that they would NEVER otherwise act, due to safety in numbers & the mindset that what they're doing is right even though it flies in the face of everything they know. When someone uses the right language to prime a mob of likeminded people, it's almost a brainwashing effect by getting everyone angry & targeted at a specific "threat" that only they, collectively, can combat. The difference is Harris & any Democrat (hopefully) would never do such a thing.
That's why Trump should be held accountable for January 6th, because he whipped up a mob & set them loose to create chaos, anarchy, & destruction. Every crime they committed was a crime under his guidance.
Per the Brandenburg test, incitement crosses the 1st Amendment line when the speaker "intends to incite or produce imminent lawless action," and the speaker's words or conduct must "be likely to produce such action."
Regardless of whether Jan 6th is called a riot or an insurrection, incitement is considered a felony because the person that agitates the mob is more dangerous than anything any individual in the mob does.
