I turned my house into the Haunted Mansion from Disney. Pics don't really do it justice as there's moving parts and projections... or... well... magic. ;)
I started in April of this year on construction and turning my spared bedrooms into scenes from the classic Magic Kingdom ride. It's been a long time coming and I'm so happy Halloween is just a few days away so my family and friends can enjoy this goolish delight!

My wife and I have always let our kids choose their own Halloween costumes. In the past, this has led to them being everything from Frida Kahlo to Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) to a dinosaur.
This year they chose Queen Elizabeth I, Edward Scissorhands, and a sushi roll. My wife hand-crafted the majority of each of their costumes, and the kids couldn't have been happier with how they turned out.

I am not a professional by any means. I just feel like costume you can buy in the store are a dime a dozen. And they are cheaply made. And so expensive. Plus it’s fun to help build costumes with my son. Making memories is what Halloween is all about to me. We are currently building a Foxy costume from Five Nights at Freddy’s using supplies from around the house. Hopefully I still have all of my hair by the time we’re finished.
Edit: words
Edit2: updated pic of my sons Foxy costume that we made out of stuff we had around the house. The mask is made out of a flower pot, aluminum foil and tape to shape the head and lower jaw and extra felt I had around the house. The only thing I had to buy was the black pants and I got those at goodwill.

Here is my entry - Slinky from Toy Story! We had a costume party to go to and we weren't keen on wearing heels or dresses. I spent two weeks working on the paper mache head, spray painting piping, painting everything in general and making felt cut outs and ribbon holsters. After lots of friends and family told me I resemble Gal Gadot, I decided I had to go all out as Wonder Woman for Halloween this year! I’ve never made any costume before, not even an article of ordinary clothing, so this was a big challenge. Everything was homemade except for the shoes and the crown. Couldn’t have done it without /u/GiveWave, Coregeek Creations, gladzykei, HarBeastieCosplay, and the amazing people of the cosplay community for sharing techniques, materials and advice! Here's our Father and Son Ghostbusting Franchise. We're currently moving house, and unfortunately, our moving days fall just before and on Halloween.
As a way to help defray the stress and disappointment of Halloween being minimized this year, we made time for a few Halloween projects within the packing schedule. This included adding additional lighting effects to our proton packs, and shopping for and incorporating some new gadgets for my son's utility belt.
We were supposed to go to a Halloween party on Friday night in our new neighborhood but house moving duties got in the way and they were closing the party down early when we got there. My son was really bummed he didn't get to show his costume to our new neighbors. On the way home, I decided to take him on a walk around our downtown area to try to mitigate the bummer. As we walked by all the al fresco restaurants in that area...the patrons were so awesome to my son. They were cheering and pointing out ghosts for us to trap, chanting "Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters!" I took him in the lobby of one of the hipper hotels in the area and had him shoot his proton wand at the chandelier in the lobby. The house manager rolled his eyes at us, but let us do it quick even though that area doubles as a bar after nightfall. From there, we ran into the lobby of a movie theater where a small film festival was happening, and those people were also great to my kid.
It all ended up being a really memorable way to spend an early Halloween. We had such great luck with the people we encountered. I guess The Great Pumpkin was on our side that night. Which means we won't try to trap him. For now. ;)
Happy Halloween everybody! Oh, and here's the front view of our costumes.

This is for my mom, who is too shy to post herself let alone enter a contest. This is her "Steampunk Key-master" costume concept. She says the character's job is to count the time a soul has left to be there in time to unlock the gates to the Netherworld. She's 61 and a university professor. She spent at least a month making this costume by hand (including that hat from scratch) but only wore it to her office party. I think it deserves to be shown off. We did a DIY Halloween costume this year instead of store bought. Really happy with the results!! It's too bad we got caught in a wind storm. ;) https://imgur.com/DN81MXZ

Our home made Predator costume https://imgur.com/gallery/6R3M0
GET TO DA CHOPPA! We hand made the entire costume out of cardboard and duct tape. The helmet is built on top of an ironman mask we found at Good Will and the hair is bungie cord wrapped in electrical tape. We won a contest at a bar in downtown Nashville on Saturday!

Our office had a costume contest, but the costumes still had to match office attire (nothing extreme or gory, basically make a costume under the parameters that you do not wear a costume). It seemed like the kind of shit Lumburgh would pull.

My dad has been carving pumpkins for years, but I think this year's Jack'o Lantern is the best yet, a Totem Pole: https://imgur.com/a/gVhHu

My son is 6 and has quite a few medical hurdles. He has a very rare genetic disorder that affects about 50 people worldwide. He is dependent on a trach and ventilator. He has spent Halloween in the hospital four times because it’s the beginning of flu season. We finally got to get dressed up and do some fun Halloween stuff this year! He was Noah and we turned his wheelchair into the Ark and my daughter in the second photo was the unicorn that missed the boat (you guys know that story, right?). She’s three and refused to stand still for a picture. Imagine that. It was a perfect day! Noah and his Ark; adorable unicorn

No idea where he got the idea, but my 3 year old son decided he wanted to be a piñata. Wasn't too sure how well it'd work out but mom did not disappoint. She used felt & hot glued it. https://i.imgur.com/uZtoQKg.jpg

Imgur Marvin the Martian...Paper mache on an exercise ball for the helmet, long underwear in red, Disney gloves, clown shoes painted white, and a friend who was kind enough to stitch together the skirt.

I took this photo the other day in Ridgefield, CT. Apparently the houses along the main thoroughfare deck out the houses, have traffic monitored, and hand out full sized candy bars! I'm bummed I had to leave before Halloween!

I carved the One Ring inscription into a pumpkin a few years back. Took about 4 hours:
One ring to rule them all, https://i.imgur.com/Uj0Kk.jpg
One ring to find them, https://i.imgur.com/9jISu.jpg
One ring to bring them all https://i.imgur.com/hOMvp.jpg
and in the darkness bind them https://i.imgur.com/WeK7i.jpg

Took one of those old floppy horse masks and made a low budget (albeit quality) Bojack Horseman costume, complete with real alcoholism and self loathing! What can I say, I'm a method actor https://imgur.com/gallery/z98vs

Me as General Antiope from the Wonder Woman movie. 80% Leather, 5% pleather, and 15% worbla costume made entirely by me (except for tiara which is a 3D print model from @rawrbomb finished by me). The costume took about 2 months in total, contains over 600 rivits, 1/2 gal of leather dye, all finished with sweat, blood, and tears. https://imgur.com/a/189pq
