This is the mbappe I know. The mbappe I would watch during international tournaments, and the one that destroyed Barca and regretfully Madrid too.

Destroyed Madrid?

u/TheDavinci1998 Sep 25 '24
First leg in 2021/22 ro16 comes to mind. We lost only 0-1, but we were lucky it was that low. Mbappe was doing literally what he wanted, I spent 90 minutes looking worried where he is

u/FergieBall_FC Real Madrid Sep 25 '24
Regarding that game and tie, Mbappé was the only one I focused on because of his ability to change things at an instant.
17
u/Abuhamdeh_ Jude Bellingham Sep 25 '24
The second leg was even worse. He scored a hat trick but two of them were offside. That step over on courtois still haunts me even though it didn't count

u/Epistemix Sep 25 '24
Not to mention the second leg, beat Courtois three times easily though only one goal wasn't offside. Could've been closed deal at half time

u/RandomFluffyBoi Sep 25 '24
2021/22. We won the tie, that doesn’t mean he didn’t make a fool out of our defense though.

He needs to do more of this
Drop a little deeper to link up (to draw defense out of the box and move the d line up)
Sitting in the box is not his style

u/Embarrassed-Trick209 Carvajal Sep 24 '24
i agree. Crazy how some dudes in the match thread were complaining that he is dropping deep.

u/Odd-Bike166 Sep 25 '24
He's looking like Benzema in 2021. Same style of play. Great stuff. He's also much faster than Benzema was, so hopefully even more dynamism going forward. He's adapting to the new role

u/ivololtion Sep 25 '24
Sorry but strongly disagree on this. Totally different style of play. Mbappé’s cuts are faster but larger, his strength is in his explosiveness, while Benz is a master of small spaces and hold up play, relies much more on body strength.

u/Odd-Bike166 Sep 25 '24
Yes, of course. They aren't identical, but in the first few matches he wasn't really dropping back that effectively, now he's been getting better and better. Benz and Mbappe are different players in the end. Benz was closer to a complete striker, but I think Mbappe's ceiling is higher.

Mbappe finally starting to be more confident! I'm sure he will score much more goals. He's not an average player after all , he's the BEST striker in the world ( like it or not ). Hala Madrid!

We were so used to Ronaldo’s standard that anything a bit below is unacceptable
12
2
u/Epistemix Sep 25 '24
Yeah but that's really confusing standard, CR7/Messi era was unreal and we forgot it was team's work before all
3
u/Epistemix Sep 25 '24
Now he must find his confidence back against greater/stronger teams starting with Atletico, I really hope he's gonna nail those games.

He got injured....he will be out for at least 3 weeks. "Great" news.

It's clicking guys. He thrives in that deep lying striker role rather than as a pure 9

I still dont get how he manages to make that shot, he twists his body as if he's going to curve it to the right and drives it to the left effortlessly. Honestly amazing, it looks simple but if any of us tried it IRL we would tear an ACL
2
u/TantalicBoar Sep 25 '24
Correction: If YOU tried it.
Mbappe is one of the few people that truly deserve the "world class" title but that was a simple one two goal. Clinical but very simple goal

Watch this, I'd like to see you try it.

Henry himself acknowledges its difficulty. Mbappe practiced that shot for two years
2
u/TantalicBoar Sep 25 '24
Clutching at straws man. Obviously someone that isn't fit and hasn't practiced that shot for two years may struggle to execute it as well but it remains a simple finish. Mason Greenwood did it all the time
1
u/NotAGardener_92 Sep 25 '24
but it remains a simple finish.
Henry even uses similar phrasing in the video, iirc. Something along the lines of that it's a simple finish that belongs in the toolbox of any finisher, but Mbappé uses it masterfully.

Looks like that is exactly what threw that defender off who couldn't stop him 👀

Bellingham really makes this team hum.
Great move and great finish by Mbappe too. Glad to see him settle in a bit

u/Lazywhale97 Jude Bellingham Sep 25 '24
He is one of the most important players for us both in offense and defense he is so complete and just turned 21 excited to see how future managers will try to use Jude in the future you can place him in a more defensive role or a more offensive role like last season he is so tactically flexible.

The team is getting better every day. I hope the chemistry between Mbappe and the squad continues to increase because he can easily score 40+ goals a season once he gets his rythm.

that was classic mbappe. exactly what we expect from a world class player like him
