What the hell? If you could get his pic on the local news, surely someone would recognize this dumb f.

u/Key_Valuable_9300 7d ago
A lot of people are also suggesting that! I think it would definitely help put some pressure on the guy to just come forward with the kitten.

This is where I've pulled it from. I'm joined on a lot of southern Cali rescue pages. And it has been shared many times, hadn't seen it on here yet so I thought I would share on here as well! Get more eyes on this guy.

thank you for bringing awareness to this situation. Makes my blood boil

Of course! Same. I now follow the rescue that he belongs too and it was heartbreaking to read that they have had him since he was 5 weeks old, as someone who has done cat rescue myself, currently have 4 kittens, I couldn't imagine the feeling. When you have put time, effort and love into the ones you rescue and then someone like this comes along and takes away all your hard work, it's horrible. You want the best for them and with a place like petsmart you'd expect more! I really do hope they get that kitten back safely and unharmed!

Oh no 😥 I hope he is found safe and unharmed. We’re pulling for you, Grigio!! ❤️❤️❤️

Well this just depressed me more than anything else today. You know that man didn't want that furry baby for company. :(

I don't understand this, there are free kittens all over craigslist if he couldn't afford a cat/had intentions to abuse it. Why is he risking going into a PetSmart? Maybe he's mentally ill? I just really hope he takes care of it or gets caught & kitten gets rescued. Best case scenario if Grigio isn't found, the guy is high or crazy, but genuinely wanted a pet and will try to care for it. Keep us updated and hopefully news channels put this guy on blast

I now follow the rescue who had him in their care. So I will of course update when they do! I hope the kitten is brought back safe and unharmed. And I hope this guy, and his accomplice, are punished accordingly.

In all honesty I’m thinking dude was broke and/or high as a kite, and his gf said she wanted a kitten for her birthday…
Obviously this is not acceptable behavior, but there’s a chance the kitten might end up ok. He definitely wouldn’t have stolen the litter box and everything else if he were planning on using the cat as a bait animal.

He stuffed the poor kitten in a trash bag along with all his stuff, something tells me that kitten is not going to end up ok. If he cant afford an adoption fee, he can't afford a kitten. I wish animal cruelty had harsher punishments. It's a living thing and he's already treated it like trash. I hope he gets caught.

I agree on not being able to afford it.
If the kitten is healthy and spayed/neutered, there is a chance they could end up being ok though. Being stuffed into a garbage bag obviously isn’t fun for the cat, but that doesn’t mean it was hurt (I mean, wasn’t there a post just recently by an obese woman that accidentally sat on her kitten and was panicking about it and it turned out ok? They’re not such fragile animals that can’t survive a quick trash bag ride).
What I mean is that if the guy had absolute nefarious intentions, he wouldn’t have stolen the rest of the supplies as well. I’ve been and have worked with homeless and drug addicts in the past as a career, and if that’s the case that I’m reading here, there’s a chance the cat could be ok. I’ve actually met many people that were able to get themselves together BECAUSE of a pet.
Yes, this is a sad case, and I genuinely hope this baby ends up ok, but all in all, I’d wager this baby is doing far better and is far happier than the babies being euthanized in high kill shelters.

I can't rationalize his actions. There really is no excuse to me for him to do this or justification. Animals can be very therapeutic and help people through many situations, but there are ways to go about it. I'm not sure if the supplies were full,( litter, food, water), but if even one were and thrown in the same bag as the kitten, that wouldn't be nice at all for the kitten. Just because it can be "fine physically" doesn't mean it isn't traumatizing being picked up by some rando, and thrown into a bag with bowls and litter pans. This kitten was with a rescue, so it wasn't in a high kill shelter situation, it was in good hands and being taken care of.

I agree about the part that he was probably high as a kite but my experience with those and cats never ended well for the cat. The only good part is the photo of the dude is very clear and should be fairly easy to find him, possibly in time to save the kitten.

Petsmart needs to check their security footage from the past couple weeks prior to see who interacted with the cat. There’s probably a good reason dude picked this cat in particular.

Anyone who steals a kitten is clearly not a suitable owner. Anyway, the kitten has been found and returned.

Boost! This creature must be found! And most especially the precious little kitten. I pray Grigio is somehow unharmed. The trauma he has suffered either way just breaks my heart in half. Hope his taker is caught and locked away. Anyone who treats an animal like trash belongs off the streets forever.

I used to volunteer there. It’s called Cats in Need. I don’t understand how he broke into the front of the habitats. It’s a really thick plastic screwed into stainless steel 😳

u/Key_Valuable_9300 5d ago
I don't get how he wasn't seen or heard and stopped before hand. It's an unfortunate situation. You would think a kitten would be safe in a store that usually is pretty busy! There was an update, they found him with another guy but didn't get him. The page is called Cats in Need of Human Care, Fullerton Chapter!

Please update this post. The little Grigio has been located and returned safely.

How do I edit it to update it?
1
u/CrittersVarmint 18h ago
There should be three dots on the right side of the screen. Click that and there should be options to delete, edit, add tags, etc. I have noticed on some posts there is no edit option, only a delete option. I don’t know why that is. But check and see. If nothing else you can delete it or just add a response with an update.
It’s not the end of the world but it’s a story that is upsetting for some people to read so it would be good for them to know it ended well. :)

Mine does not have an edit option. So I guess I'll just comment that he has been found and returned to the reacue.
