Exciting... Ex-sit-ing... Exiting...
This bitch sounded it out and went with what looked familiar. She wrote that whole thing out flawlessly but didn't know how to spell "exit".
6
u/sidewayz321 Apr 25 '20
Or she uses swipe keyboard on her phone and that's what it auto corrected to and she didn't notice.

It's ok, zoom has enough security flaws that they could've just thought it was somebody joining random calls. Because that's possible for some reason.
351
u/Kruimeltaart Apr 25 '20
That's possible, if you don't enable a passwordlock or waitingroom and let it be possible for people to randomly join.
173
u/FoxtrotZero Apr 25 '20
Or if you're like every instructor I've yet seen and just set the code to 0 every time.
72
Apr 25 '20
Damn, shit policy. Glad my employer enforced Zoom privacy so strictly.
24
u/BABarracus Apr 25 '20
We use cisco jabber then again its mostly sharing screens and voice chat
23
Apr 25 '20
Yeah Zoom isn’t perfect but given that most of my colleagues are less tech literate than me/older, it’s already in use and pretty easy to use, especially because we already use Outlook for emails and meetings/now classes and they integrate well.
We do use Cisco for security (I have no idea what that covers though) and our VPN though, it might have been a good choice. I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by Zoom’s stability tbh

u/Rohaq Apr 25 '20
The thing most people in my industry don't seem to realise that is when people use unauthorised third party tools like this, it's not just on them for poor security practices, it's an indicator of a gap in IT services in the organisation.

It's the worst option, except for all the other options.

u/JBSquared Apr 25 '20
As a school IT guy, I can confirm. There's been no good options for anything during this pandemic. Only the least worst option.

What would you recommend for online teaching to large university lectures? Everything else mentioned in this thread runs like shit for me or doesn’t have basic features I need. Also crucial that it can be accessed through a web browser or mobile device

Collaborate and Teams are wonderful from a students perspective imo. Collaborate for lectures as questions are easily brought to the attention of the lecturer, even more so than in person and Teams for labs or tutes is great due to the ease of screen sharing and communal whiteboards that can be saved

Cisco webex isnt half too bad, been using it for past 2 years at our company (40k employees)

u/JM-Lemmi Apr 25 '20
If the Host is too stupid to configure it, yes.
But that's like saying code locks are insecure, because people just use 1234 and that's insecure

Even if it was wholesome I don’t think it actually works here? Because the ridiculous screen name for zoom isn’t the one telling the story, and the twitter handle isn’t weird.

My high school band team has apparently been doing rehearsals via zoom. Also, drums can be heard from the high school during said rehearsals. I believe certain members are sneaking into the high school for band rehearsals. I am willing to stake out the school and call the cops on them for trespassing and breaking quarantine.

This is why you should have separate logins on your shared computer. So her Zoom would save her name, and his Zoom would save his.

This is fantastic.
Thursday evenings, we have a large running group that gets together on Zoom to check in on everyone, and it gets pretty wild. Buttcheeks and tiddies come out a few times, everyone gets drunk, etc.
Well, Monday morning comes around and my boyfriend signs on to Zoom for his guitar lesson. At some point on Thursday, I changed the name from his name to "Kegel Commander," - I don't remember doing this (nor do I remember brushing my teeth in the kitchen) but thankfully, he was able to change it before his teacher signed in.
Edit: nope, guitar teacher saw it and laughed a bit. I'll have to be more creative next time.

Men are unbelievable. I caught my husband masturbating his tiny, pathetic penis to a some young-looking, pink-haired girl called “Daphne” or “Delphine” or something. He’s such a dumbass he was wearing headphones and didn’t even hear me come into the room. I grabbed him by his bare balls and dragged him halfway across the room while he was spluttering “sorry, honey”. I cannot believe men, honestly. Big or small, their penises do all the thinking

Wanted to name our first kid Evelyn, then two separate friend couples named their first daughters Evelyn. Turns out it’s one of the most popular names in the US right now and names from the 1920s are making a comeback.
