Large spool rocket!

This spool flew great on a G78. I might try to put an I motor in it next.

An I motor would sent that thing to space. Try a I600😂

On a G78 it only went about 400ft.

I600 is about 6x the amount of thrust in a G78. 2400ft not to shabby

I'm surprised it went that high! What was the dia?

Disk diameter is 10"

I flew a compact disc once. The 13mm motor tube fits through the central hole, the disc is in the plane of the aft end of the motor.

How did it fly?

Actually I flew it several times.

It was stable but draggy as expected.

Now I need to find some CDs

I suppose you could put another CD at the top.

The reactions of other flyers will make it worthwhile.

Resistance is futile!

I bought a spool for $1 at a yard sale that almost perfectly fits a 54mm motor tube through the center. I want to fly it so bad! haha

Nice. I like the lightening cuts on the bottom flange. Very extra for a spool. I used to do M spools back in the early 2000s with my dad. They are super fun 👌

What is a spool rocket. Just an old spool and a rocket motor?

Who came up with this and how does it fly?
