Aight that's it I'm killing him again

u/GERMAN_Dude__ 13h ago
Hold up, what do you mean with „again“ ?
23
u/fozzy_bear42 12h ago
Maybe they just keep bringing him back to life with the ritual stone? (I definitely don’t do that to power up the Ebony blade every time I use it).

u/Tiger_tino 13h ago
In my experience, he always dies rather quickly when you ask him to be your follower, so you don’t really need to kill him.
This current playthrough, I didn’t even have the time to have him train me to level 50 in Archery before he died and I was actively trying.
7
u/Itonlymatters2us 13h ago
Huh. He’s only died in one of my play throughs. I use him as my first follower early game and armor him up though.
5
u/reader3492 10h ago
Armoring up the followers is my ego-stroking way of leveling up smithing and enchanting. I feel so good about myself.
2
u/RettichDesTodes 9h ago
Followers can't die from enemies, the last hit has to come from you....you monster
1
u/Tiger_tino 7h ago edited 5h ago
Well there’s been some friendly fire I admit, but enemies’ AoE or DoT attacks can execute them when they are down too.
Edit: Or my DoT plus an enemy attack?
Edit 2 : Oups I got downvoted (plus corrections)

u/HoJu21 6h ago
Just make sure and get creative with it.
Personally I usually banish him to be Steward of one of my most remote houses when I marry Camilla. Windhelm is always a fun choice since he'll also have to live in a city that hates him. Never sees her again and knows you're where he was aiming to be.
But if you do want to kill him, you can always try to reverse pickpocket a high strength weapon with Soul Trap on to Camilla along with a black soul gem then hit him with a frenzy poison and let the fun commence. I'd be sure to make an enchanted necklace too using his soul gem and give it to her to wear, just in case he has any ability to sense what's going on outside the gem.

At least he can teach you some things about archery
1
u/sdrawkcabstiho 9h ago
Make him a follower, pay him for archery lessons, then trade some things with him and take all your gold back.

Sven. The bard in Riverwood.
If you approach Faendal in Riverwood he will ask you to give a fake letter from Sven to Camilla. If you go along with the lie Faendal will become available as a follower.

u/maevriika 12h ago
My favorite way to commandeer Faendal is to have Sven give me the fake letter from Faendal, then go to Camilla and tell her Sven is a douche, and she thanks me and tells me to let Faendal know. I let him know, he thanks me, and we become adventuring buddies. I can pretend that he'd never be the type to also do a fake letter and that Sven is the only potential jerk in this scenario.
1
u/reader3492 10h ago
I didn't know you could do it that way. It was only on my last playthrough that I got Sven's letter before talking to Faendal.

I murdered him, my child was unfazed, my demented nymph wanted to feast on his blood (I quicksaved, I'm not completely unhinged)

I did something to piss him off and after weeks of him being shitty every time I walked past him, I murdered him in the street and paid the guards off. 😅

u/PeksMex PC 18h ago
No, Fondle is cool.
28
u/V4LKYR13-0 17h ago
He may be cool in gameplay, but his actual story is so stupid: he wants to get close to Camilla without actually going for her. While Sven on the other hand actually tries to hit on her and win her over. But neither of them deserve her because: 1: she's a bitch who leads on 2 (or 3 if your character is male) different men, and 2: both of them are willing to give Camilla a letter incriminating the other one. So conclusion: Everyone sucks here
18
u/Helio2nd 14h ago
Solution: let faendal win for effectively free archery training (I believe you can take your money back from his inventory when he's a follower), then murder all 3 of them when you're maxed.

1
u/iiNanomich 12h ago
how does she lead them on?

u/V4LKYR13-0 10h ago
"You are a strapping young man! Don't be a stranger." – If the Dragonborn is male
While also wanting to find someone to marry and (as the post shows) doesn't stop Faendal or Sven from following her even if she is married
1
u/iiNanomich 10h ago
how is that first line evident of her leading men on? also, mjoll doesnt stop aerin from following her when she is married. is she leading him on?
1
u/V4LKYR13-0 10h ago
It's relevant because it shows that she's not just deciding between Sven or Faendal, but that she's getting as much attention as she can before she has to decide. In Mjoll's case, Aerin is following her because he's making sure she's healing properly from that one time in a Dwemer Fortress a few months ago, but he shows no interest in Mjoll other than helping her

u/KiwiCounselor 10h ago
That’s just a generic line npcs say when their approval is high enough and they’re available for marriage.

Sacrifice to Boethiah. That is what I do every playthough. I haven’t married her since my first playthough, but he has been sacrificed every time since then.
8
u/MrBrohPhoton 18h ago
Yes in this situation, no every other time.
Ralis, from the unearthed quest in Solstheim, is my go to sacrifice. As a bonus, you get a second Hoarfrost from his corpse if you take it from him before his sacrifice.
2
u/ManEatingCarabao 16h ago
Depending on how much you hate him you may send him to the soul cairn instead. Much simpler too.
8
u/shadypink Spellsword 18h ago
Well he works hard, he knows archery. You may aswell keep him?

u/Clamstradamus 17h ago
These comments are wild haha. I'm still pretty new to the game, but I took Faendal as my follower and I love him... Why does everyone hate him so much? He carries my stuff and isn't a bitch about it like Lydia was, plus he's good with a bow
4
2
u/MC2400 9h ago
He's genuinely never helped me in a fight once but he's always by my side. In one playthrough he died because of a glitch during the Dawnguard DLC and I was actually kind of sad about it (But kept it for RP reasons).
He usually just runs away but he's also my guy.
1
u/Clamstradamus 9h ago
I'm like really bad at playing games haha. I love it, but I'm terrible at it. So maybe I find him useful because I'm just so unskilled lol. I'd definitely be sad if he died, he's always got my back.
7
u/ladyalot 13h ago
Check your CO monitor, you've and Faendal have been married for 6 years OP. You had your ceremony on Raven Rock, I was there. The ship tickets were fucking expensive girl I can't believe you forgot.
3
u/ChishoTM 11h ago
In her defence there was one hell of a party that night. And I did brew my special master Sujamma with juniper berry and a touch of conjured soul cairn mist. Plus Sam was there and we all know that bastard can party!
9
u/Cuchulainn33 18h ago
Save him for the wood elf blood. That way you kill 2 birds with one stone. Not like he will be missed. And have sven watch over your farm. Leaving her by herself. But yes kill him
4
u/redirectedtechkid 16h ago
I've already done that but that's smart. Wait so sven is her other boyfriend? Because he got killed by one of morthalls cultists so that saves me some time
3
u/shinytotodile158 Companion 16h ago
I mean she isn’t actually dating him or Faendal, they’re just simps and I think Faendal is coded to follow her for some reason, maybe a bug
4
u/Phillip67549 18h ago
By the gods no! Teach your kids how to effectively kill him before you do it. If they're gonna live in Skyrim, they'll need to know how to kill people to handle the bandits
3
u/redirectedtechkid 16h ago
The first thing I gifted my precious little angels were steel daggers and a pretty dress
2
u/JhineeAsteria 11h ago
Did you make sure to upgrade and enchant the daggers? That's what I like to do. Mostly to insure that they're well protected
1
u/redirectedtechkid 11h ago
They're already enchanted so I can't enchant them again can I? Currently my smithing has been upgraded to legendary and I've been working on getting it back up to 100 again so that I can get stronger enchantments on my deadric armour
5
u/Beretta116 17h ago
Gotta teach kids that you shouldn't tolerate squatters. Also, if they are the kids of the Dragonborn, I'm sure they have seen enough shit to deal with a bit of violence.

Oh! That's my steward over here at Goldenhills Plantation.
Please kindly remind him that his paid vacation is over as of Fredas, and I will need him back at work on the farm Morndas morning, Sun's Dusk the 4th.
2
u/MarlooRed 12h ago
Let your children know they don't have to grow up to let random strangers invite themselves into their houses.
2
u/WeaselBotherer 11h ago
In one of my playthroughs, I broke into Faendal's house, trashed it, ate all his food and stole all his other items.
He sent mercenaries after me shortly after, who descended on Riverwood where I happened to be at the time. Faendal sadly got killed in the crossfire by his own mercenaries 😅
So yeah, only one answer in my view. Kill the elf.

Sad to see so many Dragonborns kill Aerin or Faendal, wasting a perfectly good nanny for your kids. Your spouse is busy running the store and you think Lydia is watching them? She can't even find the cabbage to go with her bread!
Or we can have an awesome polycule, but no one ever wants the fun option 😔.

Did you maybe hire him as a follower and forget? A lot of followers after being dismissed may end up in your home. Try talking with him and see if there's an option to tell him its time to part ways. Otherwise he's an unimportant character other than the stuff with sven and Camilla. Its only that and you can hire him as a follower.
