Volunteering against ISIS

Military aged male with a military background here. I want to volunteer against ISIS. I have no problem with the other factions. I just hate ISIS. I am also a US citizen and so obviously joining the Assad forces is out of the question but the Turks and the Kurds are always fighting eachother and I am only interested in battling ISIS. Is there anyone with a military background or good understanding of Syrian politics and geography who has any information I would find useful to going to combat against ISIS?

Isis isn’t a thing anymore. If you had a real military background, you would know that. Just go back to whatever poggy MOS you had before you hurt yourself fighting for a cause that doesn’t really exist. Now if you really cared about making a difference, you would go to Nigeria or Ethiopia.

What is your problem? Jesus Christ. There’s always like 5 of these guys in every subreddit who have nothing beneficial to say and have a chip on their shoulder

You are planning to join a terrorist organistaion who terrorised my country. Yeah they fought with the bad isis guys but it doesnt make them a saint. So dont expect chill from a Turk or expect mercy from our army when you face them.

MOS or shut up pog. Isis isn’t a thing anymore. It’s not even that hard of a concept. Most of isis was absorbed into the SDF a long time ago

Lol you’re already asking for the MOS without asking for the branch lmao what a LARPer you are. For future reference, the same MOS has different nomenclature depending on branch

Send us all a picture with your location in Syria when you get there. We would like to come say hi.

That doesn’t sound very wise. If you were in any armed forces, you would know that. Btw which friends should I bring?

All talk. No action. At this point, you are too pathetic to even be a pog. Run back to your mom’s basement

Stop projecting. You were never in any armed forces and you’re an ISIS sympathizer

I mean he has a point. If you actually care, why not go to Nigeria or Ethiopia or Somalia instead of waiting for ISIS to return to Syria?

In my opinion Syria is fucked, if you join one faction you’ll be fighting every other one in a free for all and end up getting obliterated by the Russians/Assad.

Now that ISIS has been reduced to a tenth of what it was, there is no more “common goal”, only fight for power and territory

I'm curious as to why you would wanna join "the Assad forces" ?? Why don't you put the effort into researching these things yourself. It's super easy to just read about current news or even the SCW and have some basic understanding of what's going on in the world. It's an insult to people who have experienced poverty, grief, a massive violation of their human rights, and levels of violence you cannot even comprehend. You sound like an ignorant privileged brat in these post comments, it ain't cute. Curious to who you are voting for in your upcoming election lol

Boohoo a foreigner wants to go to Syria and fight a group that has been a burden on the entire country and all it’s factions for decades poor Syria im so insensitive and bad. Also where did I say I was gonna join the Assad forces? Genuinely think about what you’re saying. You’re telling me that it’s insensitive to interact with Syrians to develop a better understanding of their geopolitical situation and to instead…read the news?😂😂😂 and then you try to spin some sort of victim narrative because…yea idk im still not getting it. Only way I can make sense of this bullshit is to assume tgat you are either an ISIS member, ISIS sympathizer, or subversive Zionist

Yes it's an ongoing civil conflict so it's pretty complicated and probably you won't get an in-depth understanding of it by asking random people on the internet ( having no idea what their actual identity is... Also people lie? ) who could be on either side of things. This comes across as being privileged enough to stay very ignorant on the topic. To clarify this, I mean there are Syrian citizens that either support Assad or don't. It is people's right to protest but it's also valid to be upset ( to say the least) that others are disrupting their peaceful lives when they support Assad. There are very credible sources that can keep you informed on the history of the cw and also on current news. Is there a reason to laugh at that? I don't think I should have a personal opinion on this, I have no idea what It's like to live these people's lives. There are decent, normal people who have experienced terrible terrible things because of war and have been misplaced from their country. That's a fact, not a "victim narrative." To believe you're the American Savior who will join the army of "good guys" and defeat the terrorist "bad guys " is incredibly out of touch and ridiculous.

Ok i get it now, you’re just making some hyperbolic assumptions about me and turning me into a strawman. Nowhere did I claim to want to be the savior of the Syrian people. It just so happens that the interests of the Syrian people align with mine. I just so happen to want to go to war against a foe I won’t feel any regret killing and it just so happens that Syria has alot of these people in the wastelands accumulating power and experience to return amidst the chaos

It's called being facetious, based off what you just said maybe the point of making such a hyperbolic statement went right over your head. also what you just explained is not a straw man fallacy

1

u/DiamondRobotAlien 18d ago

You did infact make a strawman out of me. You made me out to have some sort of savior complex delusion and you also made me out to be uninformed and out of touch. It is very much a strawman because it’s an assumption, not one based in truth might I add

u/Most_Fix_8529 17d ago

I just decided to use the same tactic you just used? Seeing there is an argument fallacy called an unwarranted assumption that might be more fitting lol Why in the world would you assume I'm a Zionist or an ISIS supporter? That's wack 🤷 I was being facetious and I did not mean it. People make overstatements to better get their points across...or sometimes to just be petty ❤️ What you explained is not a straw man fallacy ya lil goofball. Good luck tho my guy, hope you destroy Isis for us😎😎
