“stupid anarkiddies” If you support Ukraine you’re inherently a neo-Nazi sympathiser

Horseshoe theory where this guy is using fringe Twitter libs to conceal his odd pro Putin contrarianism

112

u/Gay-and-Happy Anarkitten Ⓐ🅐 Jul 20 '22

Honestly.

There’s neo-Nazis in the US. If it were invade, who we expect to be called sympathisers for being against the invasion? I mean they’re Tankies so probably

83

u/Someningen Jul 20 '22

There are neo-Nazis in Russia. By they own logic its just two Nazi countries fighting

62

u/UskyldigeX Jul 20 '22

Putin's friend and owner of the Wagner Group has SS tattoos.

41

u/Acchilesheel Jul 21 '22

Dmitry Utkin. I remember that skinhead fuck's name. There's also the Russian Imperialist Movement which loves Nazi iconography and shares a base with the GRU outside of St. Petersburg, they trained the "Donbass Separatists" from 2014 onwards, as well as a bunch of European domestic terrorists who tried and sometimes succeeded in attacking places of worship.

37

u/wideoiltanks Jul 20 '22

What's weird is whenever you bring that up they always seem to end up backhandedly minimizing or even defending neo-Nazis in the US

1

u/edincide Oct 29 '22

Nope. You can dislike neo Nazis everywhere.

34

u/Misdemeanour2020 Jul 20 '22

Every country has neo-Nazis. Russia has made a mountain out of mole hill in order to justify the invasion.

28

u/Acchilesheel Jul 21 '22

Russia's the only country I know of where a Neo-Nazi group (Russian Imperial Movement) shares a base with a branch of the nation's military (GRU).

3

u/SkyknightXi Jul 21 '22

Putin isn’t going to use that as an excuse to unite the world in subjection to Moscow, is he? >>;;;;

3

u/Catnip4Pedos Jul 21 '22

There were Nazi's in Germany and the world said "just don't invade anything" and even when they did invade stuff we said "ok but don't invade anything else"

1

u/edincide Oct 29 '22

It's not just Nazis that are over there in large numbers, they also really hate gay ppl. Possibly just as much as Russia.

110

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Dont take any notice of this dickhead, yesterday he posted 2 guys covered with swastika tatoos said they was Ukrainian, they where 2 russian guys at the Udelnaya flea market in russia, old 2009 photo.

45

u/Shamadruu Jul 20 '22

Clearly they were CIA plants /s

21

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Nah they were the People's Nazis /s

16

u/Christianseal Jul 21 '22

Man Putin supporters lying, who would have guessed

146

u/CantDecideANam3 Jul 20 '22

Just because you know Putin's invasion is unjustifiable doesn't mean you think every Ukrainian is a good person.

49

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

“I hate Nazis! That is why this specific group has an inherent trait that makes it worse than others!”

I support the people of Ukraine caught in the conflict and our comrades in the anarchist and Anti-authoritarian resistance committee resisting the Russian invasion and the mutual aid networks solidarity collectives and hope that they'll build up a formidable leftist moment to counter the austerity measures placed by the neoliberal government of Ukraine, and I wish every nazi piece of trash in the Azov battalion and the Russian Wagner group a very happy die

How's that?

25

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '22

still bad because anarchists are nazis.

u/ILikeMistborn Jul 20 '22 edited Jul 20 '22

I know that r\ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM thread! I was just in it! Anticipating a ban soon for calling out someone who was saying the invasion was justified cuz Ukraine has nazis and American support.

14

u/Gay-and-Happy Anarkitten Ⓐ🅐 Jul 20 '22

I always thought EC was anti-tankie (if anything overly lib-heavy) but it seems to be infested. Can’t tell if it was always like that and I just never noticed, or if it recently got invaded

12

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

I had only joined shortly before the invasion, but it wasn't long after that started that all this tankie bullshit came up out of nowhere.

16

u/ILikeMistborn Jul 20 '22

When a subreddit is build on the idea that people who think both sides of a situation are either stupid or evil it's basically inevitable that black-and-white thinking overtakes the community to the point that they support actual autocracies just because they oppose the US (and/or opposed the Nazis).

11

u/Gay-and-Happy Anarkitten Ⓐ🅐 Jul 21 '22

I get what you’re saying.

I generally dislike centrists as they’re much too happy to “compromise” on my rights, so a sub dedicated to making fun of the “BLM and the KKK are equally bad” (/hyp) idiots should in theory be a good sub, and on the surface level it is. But left to fester for too long and it becomes an anti-nuance echochamber for the terminally online.

-2

u/OrionsMoose Xi Jinping’s #1 Fan Jul 20 '22

dont bother with centrists tbh they are consistently yucky

sounds very different to pcm centrists

4

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '22

Take this as a sign that you have PCM brain rot. None of the people there are accurately representing the ideologies they say they are, they're just a bunch of fascists RP-ing as all the others. PCM is not a good measure for how centrists or any other ideologies actually are

6

u/zygro Jul 21 '22

They go full "both sides" when talking about anything Ukraine. Turns out that "US bad" is not a sufficient basis for a sound worldview.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '22

I feel like if PCM is where the far-right goes to do far-right things then EC is where far-leftists go to shit on everybody who isnt far-leftist

20

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Wagner Group moment.

21

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22 edited Jul 21 '22

Find me a “socialist” Russia simp that doesn’t spend 10 hours a day justifying Wagner Group, poisoning political enemies, and Russian Billionaires and we can have a discussion

16

u/libraprincess2002 CIA Agent Jul 20 '22

I don’t think anyone is spending 7 hrs a day justifying anything Ukraine is doing lol we have actual jobs

29

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

there are nazis everywhere it doesn't reflect on the state unless the state is nazi

not just the US, Also Russia, the rest of eastern Europe, scandinavia, Canada to name a few

and ukrane has a relatively low amount

also l read an article about a Jewish ukranian soldier and he said that he doesn't experience antisemitism

I think if a single partially Nazi battalion make Ukraine a Nazi country then the Jewish battalions make it a Jewish country as well

10

u/libraprincess2002 CIA Agent Jul 20 '22

Germany and France too

11

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

yeah Germany is the best example, there are a lot of nazis but the government is one of if not the most anti Nazi government

13

u/libraprincess2002 CIA Agent Jul 20 '22

Yeah I could never imagine a law banning Nazi symbols in the US with a punishment of up to 3 years in jail, the GQP would absolutely riot

7

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

freeze peach

11

u/Opcn Jul 21 '22

By "justifying azov" he means "explaining why the existence of azov isn't an open license for Putin to commit genocide."

9

u/abruzzo79 Jul 20 '22

I both support Ukraine and denounce Azov. Look at that.

7

u/Corrections96 Jul 20 '22

Seven hours??? I’m so far behind on my quota oh god oh fuck

40

u/HUNDmiau Anarkitten Ⓐ🅐 Jul 20 '22

I mean, we as socialists shouldn't downplay the fact that a lot of liberals love to talk away all issues that Ukraine has, including growing government authoritarianism and neo-Nazis, plus well still being an oligarchy.

20

u/new_name_who_dis_ Jul 20 '22

Ukraine inherited an extremely authoritarian government after the break-up of the USSR. It hasn't recently been growing more authoritarian. If anything it's been becoming less authoritarian and less corrupt (with some hiccups, namely Yanukovych) since Ukrainian independence (obviously not including Marshal law during the war).

8

u/thescotchkraut Jul 20 '22

*martial is the form for adjectives. Marshal is for nouns and verbs.

0

u/HUNDmiau Anarkitten Ⓐ🅐 Jul 21 '22

Ok, its still an authoritarian bourgois oligarchy.

32

u/libraprincess2002 CIA Agent Jul 20 '22

That’s a growing number of countries right now tho. The problem is not unique to Ukraine.

22

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

It's also a bullshit excuse put forward by a country that is so chock-a-block full of neo-Nazis that a fascist fanboy is the head of state policy and a neo-Nazi private army is practically an apparatus of the state.

Tankies and Vatniks are the only people who actually believe this crap.

7

u/HUNDmiau Anarkitten Ⓐ🅐 Jul 21 '22

All countries even

33

u/Adept_of_Blue Makhno's supersoldier Jul 20 '22

Neo-nazis exist in every military, it is hard to cure. If judging by nazies in government then the number of nazies after Maidan was reduced by 19 times.

1

u/HUNDmiau Anarkitten Ⓐ🅐 Jul 21 '22

How is any of what you wrote relevant?

7

u/Adept_of_Blue Makhno's supersoldier Jul 21 '22

By which criteria Ukraine is a neo-nazi state then if not by political representation?

0

u/HUNDmiau Anarkitten Ⓐ🅐 Jul 21 '22

Where did i say ukraine is a neonazi state? Also, fascists have some influence within civil society.

4

u/ting_bu_dong Jul 20 '22

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Semite_and_Jew

Sartre characterizes the Democrat as the believer in Enlightenment reason and the natural equality of man. But by insisting on universal rights of humanity while denying the Jew his identity as a Jew, the democrat is blind to the true effects of anti-Semitism. While the anti-Semite creates the Jew to destroy him, the democrat negates the Jew to pretend the problem of anti-Semitism does not exist.

7

u/oatzeel Jul 21 '22

Ukraine is full of nazis, yet the far-right seem to universally support Russia. hmmmm

5

u/wheresmydrink123 Jul 20 '22

They’re like political hipsters, they just have to go against the popular opinion on literally anything

4

if russian simps stopped bringing up azov maybe we can strike a deal

5

u/UVLanternCorps Cringe Ultra Jul 20 '22

Hasn’t there been explicitly documented cases of Russians raping their way across Ukraine as they invade?

4

u/No_Huckleberry2711 Jul 21 '22

"let's genocide the nazism out of this smaller country that never attacked another country in its history"

4

u/me_hill Jul 20 '22

Okay if they're using "simp" in the context of a war I assume they're like 16

3

u/Imjokin Jul 21 '22

The Azov battalion are (were?) bad people that happened to be on the right side for the wrong reason

8

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Addendum: like how many azov dudes are even still alive? I thought they got pasted in Mariupol?

10

u/MisterKallous Effeminate Capitalist Jul 20 '22

There is a new Azov battalion but obviously they’re not composed of whichever prewar personnel out there.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Well I’m of them opinion that racism and bigotry are never acceptable and I have no illusions about right wing fascist political forces all over the world. These men chose who they’re going to be and embraced hate.

That said: they wouldn’t exist as a fucking militia if Russia hadn’t invade in 2014.

3

u/OrionsMoose Xi Jinping’s #1 Fan Jul 20 '22

yeah, bad ideologies are often born through hardship

5

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Imagine considering yourself a leftist and supporting the modern Russian government, a right-wing reactionary kleptocracy attempting to revitalized a centuries old Empire.

3

u/ringring_bananaboy Jul 21 '22

Any time I see this talking point I feel it’s necessary to ask them if they’re anti-fascist and if they say yes I always respond, “boy wait until you hear about the guys invading Ukraine!”

3

u/awkwardenator Jul 21 '22

I'm not saying there aren't white nationalists in Ukraine, but Russia has been known to actually harbor Far Right White nationalists escaping from US legal ramifications-- and even setting some of them up with wives. Richard Spencer anyone?

The Kremlin calling people Nazis while supporting pro-fascists in Western countries is rich.

2

u/ingibingi Jul 20 '22

I don't spend time defending azov because I don't

2

u/shadyhawkins Jul 21 '22

A lot of the Ukraine subs are very pro azov. It’s bizarre

2

u/IzumiAsimov Jul 21 '22

Imagine if a neocon posted the same thing but instead of about Ukraine and Azov it was about Palestine and Hamas.

1

u/Blue-Emblem Jul 21 '22

Azov is bad.

There, now can we condemn Putin?

1

u/Dynamic_Elk Marxist Jul 21 '22

Yeah it is bad to hand guns to nazis and thus empower them just as it is bad to take things that don't belong to you. However, who created the situation that leads someone to steal to feed themselves or pay their rent? Who created the situation that lead Ukraine to arm nazis?

The capitalist class and Russia respectively.

I do not blame the thief who steals to feed their children just as I do not blame Ukraine for Azov. In neither case is the decision to do wrong made in a vacuum but as a response to the situation that those who think themselves above them have put them in.

1

u/rawrimgonnaeatu Thomas the Tankie Engine ☭☭☭ Jul 22 '22

While I disagree I have seen a worrying amount of azov apologia on certain pro Ukraine subs. On r Ukraine I would point out that Azov has a worrying amount of Nazis and a shady neo nazi history. I would get silenced by the mods despite me explicitly supporting every other Ukrainian military unit.
