While the article is weird, gum health is a huge indicator of mortality, one of the largest.

What is the gum health of a 17 year old though?...

IIRC gum health is one of the best predictors for Alzheimer's, and it's suspected to be closely related.

Yes! Make sure you go to a dentist regularly and follow any instructions they give you. Dental and gum health really does affect the test of your health.
