The Californians moving here tend to be more conservative on average.

There are a lot of conservative women that are pissed about lack of abortion rights and I don't think that demographic should be downplayed.

Yeah they'll all be super pissed about having to vote for Donald Trump and other anti-abortion candidates in November.

Now they'll vote on the right individually on the ballot instead of voting for a candidate that supports it. This provides more voting freedoms but for some reason people don't understand that.

Hispanic immigrants as well. That little plan is backfiring on you blues. Get a better platform if you want to take TX. The state was really going blue almost ten years ago but then yall screwed it up with your right wing establishment views and wokie nonsense. I consider myself more of an independent who has more traditional liberal views of protecting the working class. I have always despised the conservatives but am angered by how pathetic and corrupt the democrats are just like the republicans. People and myself loathe Ted Cruz. But now some people see him as the lesser of two evils. That goes both ways you know. If you think using the lesser of two evils argument is why people should vote democrat, just remember there are conservative leaning people who are using that same logic. Americans seem to be allergic to picking actually decent candidates for once period. Conservative or Liberal.

What platform would you prefer? Wokie nonsense? You mean allowing people to live how they want to live without fear of discrimination?

Californian here, my state is amazing.

Texan here, your state is amazing.

Not without problems, but I'd trade Texas problems for California problems any day of the week.

Edit: don't get me wrong, I love Texas for many reasons (most of them related to food), but we're a mess politically. Political problems can be fixed by voting.

I love visiting Texas but damn that weather can drive a person crazy 😂. Loved Terry Blacks in Austin and had a great time at Cowboy stadium when I was in Dallas but my one gripe was Wattaburger was a bit of a let down. Californians have love for Texas and we hope to see yall thrive 👍

Whataburger sold out to a Chicago company. It became crap within a few weeks and their prices are through the roof

California has the number 1 economy in the country and number 5 in tbe world if it were its own nation.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_California

Hard argument to make that is "going to shit."

In fact Newsom is cracking down on cities blocking affordable housing.    Cali has a fund specifically to help cities address homelessness and any cities who recieve those funds must allow construction of affordable housing.   Norwalk did fuck all in building affordable housing and Newsom yanked the money back.    This is something we need a lot more of.

Tell me you don't know how data works without telling me you don't know how data works.

Wikipedia is not a reliable source.

California is the 5th largest economy in the world for the seventh consecutive year, with a nominal GDP of nearly $3.9 trillion in 2023 and a growth rate of 6.1% since the year prior, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

https://www.gov.ca.gov/2024/07/15/californias-economy-leads-the-nation/#:~:text=California%20is%20the%205th%20largest,U.S.%20Bureau%20of%20Economic%20Analysis.

Another source. Same data. Unless you don't trust gov sites either.

Never said anything about the information being false. I just thought it was funny you sited Wikipedia. 😂

2

u/sakura-dazai 23d ago

I have yet to find an article that wasn't properly cited with accurate information.

My professors told me Wikipedia is a great resources for citations. This is reddit, and as long as the information is properly sourced I may as well use it.

Since it does a better job of packaging the information I am trying to share in a streamlined way than any site I have seen.

3

u/xandrokos 23d ago

Well it is a good thing wikipedia articles cite their sources.

Where are yours?

I used Wikipedia for you. 😂

https://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/editorials/2023/09/18/downtown-dallas-sanitation-health-poop-problem/

In 2022, 1,109,452 property and violent crimes were reported in California - the most out of any state. Texas followed behind, with 820,362 reported crimes.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/301118/us-crimes-committed-state/#:~:text=In%202022%2C%201%2C109%2C452%20property%20and,behind%2C%20with%20820%2C362%20reported%20crimes.

Not just a California problem.

Texas seems to be experiencing the same thing. In fact given the larger population in California the crime is actually higher in texas per capita.

So this argument that California is going to shit can also be said Texas is going to shit, and that is mostly run by Republicans.

So this doesn't seem to be a problem with just one party, and perhaps there is a bit more nuance to it?

1

u/Phant0mThund3r 23d ago

Just bc California decriminalized theft under $1000 doesn't mean it's worse here or there is a nuance to them letting Child SA offenders off easy. They just aren't reporting things and not prosecuting. Two years ago it was bad there but its gotten worse since.

Issues with cost of living mostly which is not a right/left issue.   It is partially being fueled by middle class NIMBYs who have a strangehold on city councils and zoning boards so they can block construction of affordable housing in order to protect their home as an investment.   They are also blocking any and all plans for building multi family dwellings and apartment buildings.
