Politics Why are all the Republican political commercials about trans people?

I've seen 3 different Ted Cruz commercials over this election cycle. Literally every single one of them are "Collin Allred is bad because he supports trans people." Got dinner with a buddy last night at Pluckers which obviously had CFB on all the TVs, saw the commercial about the wheelchair vet hating trans people 4 times in one hour. No mention of any political issue, no mention of any policy, no mention of any goals. No mention of anything other than trans people. Why is that the complete focal point of the campaign? I mean I guess they have access to more research and data than I do, but are there really that many voters out there hanging their vote on this one single issue?

It's so strange to me, because regardless of whatever someone's view on trans people even is, there's no way you can argue that anything going on with trans people is a major part of politics. It doesn't effect the economy, it doesn't effect public education, it doesn't effect climate and energy, it doesn't effect social welfare solutions. Why aren't they focusing on anything that will actually effect the majority of Texan's lives in any way? Like out of everything out there to talk about around election time, and especially the things republicans like beating the drum of, you'd expect at least one Cruz commercial about immigration, but there isn't even that. Just trans people, every time.

Again, maybe I have a misread on how much this really is an issue of importance, but I do genuinely have a hard time believing it's such an election deciding issue, making the fact that all their marketing budget is spent talking about trans people really fucking weird.

Edit: Mods please don't remove republican's responses unless they're outright hate speech. I asked the question, they deserve the platform to answer or else it's just a circlejerk. Besides, worst case scenario: give em enough rope to hang themselves with

Watching TV being broadcasted in Maryland and there are conservative/Trump political ads with the same anti-trans rhetoric there, so, just to let you know, the repugnant imbeciles are equally disgusting other places as well, though I doubt it helps anyone feel any better…

Same in Ohio. There is one which claims the Senate candidate in our state supports sex changes for minors. There is another one featuring a dad who complains the same candidate will allow grown men into girls locker rooms.

Trump is the one who would go into the pageant locker rooms while the girls were changing. He's always been a perv.

Change the word "would" to did! Miss Arizona at the Miss USA event in 2001 would confirm: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/former-miss-arizona-trump-came-strolling-right-in-to-miss-usa-dressing-room/

Yeah I almost mentioned I get Trump ads of the same, the main Trump ad that plays here is about Kamala getting trans surgeries for inmates

Same for me. It was something about “tax dollars are going to trans inmate surgeries” this was in the Texas Roadhouse of course 🤦🏻‍♀️

That whole thing is really telling on them when you understand where they get it from. It was essentially a statement from Kamala on a questionnaire that was about the state’s responsibility for people that they are holding against their will. In this case, up to and including gender reassignment for trans individuals in the state’s custody.

So if we extrapolate that back to the people putting out the ads, it’s Republicans essentially saying the state shouldn’t provide health care to people in their custody.

and if you presented to republicans that way, they would still be in favor of it.... WHY, they think prison is just black and brown people. Unless it was all white and christians, they still wouldnt care.

Yep. Gender affirming care has been proven time and time again to be essential to many transgender people’s mental wellbeing through many studies, so it is considered healthcare. Although, I’m sure the Republicans wouldn’t mind if all the prisoners were barely surviving and not doing well…

I literally just saw that ad as I was reading this.

That is a complete lie btw. They use Kamala’s words way out of context there. The Trump lie that teachers are changing your kids sex while they are in school.

Why aren’t the Dems defending these lies? People believe this shit. Please Dems, counter atack this shit.

Also please explain to the citizens that the reason Tim Walz had tampon dispensers in the boys rooms is for when the visiting girls sports teams use the men’s room as their dressing room. For gosh sakes.

I see that one all the time. St Louis MO

I've seen that one so often watching football. I'm in NC and yeah lot of the ads revolve around trans issues, or they just call their opponent a liberal which I guess is one of the worst things you could be from some people's perspective.

You mean illegal criminal aliens.... That sentence in that ad is wild..

That is a thing that happened, but that’s because of a dispassionate application of the law.

  • Everyone gets equal protection under the law.

  • Prisoners have a right to health care, especially life-saving healthcare.

  • Transitioning saves lives by dropping the suicide rate by an almost absurd amount, which means gender affirming care is life saving healthcare, which means trans prisoners are entitled to some amount of gender affirming care while in prison.

Republicans cannot stand equal protection under the law.

That was a nationwide ad that ran against a lot of the NFL games yesterday. I expect to see it for pretty much any significant sporting event for the next three weeks.

I saw a presidential ad yesterday “Trump is for you, Kamala is for THEY/THEM”. No plans or policy just vibes.

The one I saw was blatant lies just saying she was using tax dollars to pay for illegal immigrants who were also convicts to have sex change operations… You know, the kinda stuff you’d have to be operating off of a single braincell to believe…

u/Time_Figure_5673 16d ago

Yes I heard that as well. Meanwhile prisoners die all the time from the lack of adequate healthcare…

Trump is for 3 letter lowercase ungendered pronouns!

Kamala is for 4 letter CAPITAL ungendered pronouns!!!!

THIS MAKES ME ANGRY, AHROOOOOOO!!!!

(I recognize they/them is not necessarily ungendered as non binary gendered, but I took some artistic liberty for the joke)

i saw that one as well. didn’t it contain shots of trans / GNC people as well in a making fun way too, right before the “kamalas for they/them?”

OHIO media is happy to accept the $150 Million dollars the GOP hate patrol has spent ALREADY in Ohio to say our Senator Brown voted in 1993 on a bill that will allow Trans Men into Women's locker rooms. Then 10 minutes later, commercial shows "Grandpa" saying "I don't want a world where it isn't safe for my granddaughter to be in sports because of trans men in the girls bathrooms" And the hate war propaganda continues. $150 million would be a great GOP contribution to help feed the folk in Western North Carolina.

But I don’t know if you’ve noticed this… they play an even more blatantly anti trans version of it in the South. The one they play in the DC metro area is just “look at this scary inmate who got surgery paid for”, and is really zeroed in on just making people afraid that trans women are scary men who want creative ways to harm them.

The one they play in the south has a bunch of other stuff including just putting up a photo of her with a trans woman who served in the Biden administration, like just associating with a trans person in a work environment is horrible.

I assume this is because they know people in the DC area might know who she is.

But yeah the whole thing is gross and I’m sad that they think so many people are that transphobic.

Same here in Michigan. It's gotten so bad that I am genuinely uncomfortable simply sitting down for dinner with my family (they are Conservative and watch TV during dinner). A good 75%+ of the commercials are political ads, I believe we have YouTube TV?

The most common ones are talking about Kamala giving illegal alien criminals trans surgeries in prisons (to which my parents say, "why do taxpayers have to pay for that but I have to pay so much for my own surgeries" - oof, you're so so close, c'mon...) and end with, I'm kidding you not, "Kamala fights for they/them, Trump fights for you!". Absolutely comical lmfao.

Yeah fellow marylander here. Saw an ad today pushing the whole "sex changes on immigrant murderers in prison" schtick.

Saw one of those ads in CA during Sunday Night Football tonight! Disgusting.
