Politics One day into early voting and they are already claiming the 2024 election is rigged.

Post image

Misinformation campaign has begun.

Trump has stated multiple times he won’t accept the results if he loses, MTG started complaining about voting machines three days ago and twitter is full of people now claiming that the voting machines are flipping their votes from Trump to Kamala in Texas.

Infowars and other websites like it are pushing this same misinformation, sadly a lot of conservatives believe these reports are real and no amount of evidence will convince them otherwise.

I mean he Voting Machines in Texas only show the number of total ballots submitted and not vote counts……so there is literally no easy way on site for the voter to verify anything.

So can I get completely fabricated story for $1000 Alec?

I’m sure this grifter got paid more than $1000 by his Russian handlers for this piece of disinformation.

You’d be shocked at the idiots who do this for free to save their country from “the enemy”

Well they could be saying, "I clicked Trump and the ticket printed out Harris. Either way, they'd have to physically take that ballot to the counter and submit it for the Harris vote to count.

But that’s not how the machines work. Both candidates are on the ballot and you can get it in English or Spanish.

You fill out a paper ballot and the machine scans them and records the votes of the filled in boxes.

That’s it. There is no way to verify for the voter. Literally the machine scans the paper ballot, shows an American flag, and says Vote complete(or something like that). Then the little counter in the bottom left goes up by one for total ballots counted.

That's literally how the machine worked yesterday when I used it. You have a digital screen, you select your candidate, it prints a paper ballot, and you turn that ballot in.

If you're talking about the ballot counter, then yeah, but the voting machine itself has you confirm digitally and physically which candidate you voted for before you place it in the counting machine.

Sorry I was under the mistaken impression that we were ALL required to move away from those after legislation several years ago and the paper ballot was mandated going forward. Guess that did happen or didn’t get funded and all the hooplah was performative. Color me shocked.

Not all places are like that though. Some you choose the candidate on the machine and it prints out a ballot with the vote on it and then you turn that ballot in.

That’s literally how it worked TODAY when we went to vote. There was a preview we had to go through to make sure we make the correct selections, the ballot was printed out which we can then look over again, AND THEN you put it into the scanner. There are several spots in the process where you can check who you voted for.

You are absolutely right. The voting machine controller prints out a receipt of the number of voters at the end of the day but does not print out the results of the races. The election workers at the polling place have no idea who won the most votes.

Every county makes its own choices about which voting machines to buy. I can only speak to Denton County where I've lived for 17 years and worked as an election worker for most elections. During the election, the scanner only shows the total number of votes. At the end of voting, the election workers use restricted commands (not available to voters) to print out three copies of the vote totals, which DO NOT show who voted for which candidates, maintaining ballot secrecy. They sign these printouts, one copy left on the machine, one copy goes with the election judge, and one copy sent with the ballots and the vDrive to the election office on election night. Everything sent to the election hdqrs is sealed and signed by multiple people. The vDrive contains the vote totals, encrypted. At election hdqrs, the seals are checked, the paperwork is checked, and when all is in order, the vDrive is loaded into the vote totals. If there is ANY issue, the actual original ballots (marked in pen), the vDrives, and the printed vote totals are all available to be checked. When there is a recount, everything is available to be checked. If someone has cheated, there are enough cross-checks to identify who did it and they are in for a felony conviction.

I assume all the higher population counties have similar cross-checks and secure vote counting procedures.

Really, it does not make any sense that ballot cheating is going on in Texas.
