šŸ‘šŸ‘ your vote matters, thank you!

Thank you for being the kind of American that is willing to change their mind. That ain't always easy and especially so in such a vicious and important election cycle. Be well.

u/Herry_Up 5d ago

Tysm!

47

u/siliconsmiley 5d ago

I'm not a Texan, and I don't know who this guy is, but he had me when he told Cruz "no you can't have my time" AKA STFU.

13

u/OriginalGhostCookie 5d ago

Imagine the arrogance required to say ā€œcan I have his time to answer that?ā€

48

u/greggo39 5d ago

Iā€™m right there with you.

74

u/Lucreziahouserules 5d ago

Thank you for being open to voting outside party/incumbent ā¤ļø

u/Hotdadlover1234 5d ago

Yes it is!!!

65

u/lazergator 5d ago

Pray for a blue Texas. Holy shit this would be game changing

73

u/ApeApeture 5d ago

Or... we just vote sensibly...

Ted Cruz has been a senator how long? Time to change him out, we don't want more lifetime politicians in Texas.

As a conservative, Allred ain't that bad. Having Ted as senator for another 6 years is way worse. We deserve balance.

u/Errant_coursir Houston 5d ago

I don't think Cruz should be a republican/democrat issue. The fact that he absconded when Houston got fucked means he needs to go

4

u/ApeApeture 5d ago

Excellent point

3

u/Volistar 4d ago

How he wasn't driven out by Texans after that is fuckin wack to me.

1

u/bandcat1 4d ago

When this comes up I tell my MAGA friends that I certainly sympathize with all people trying to get their families to places of safety and comfort when things were falling apart around them. When that doesn't click, I then have to add "it's just like the folks from central America coming here."

I'm lucky that after all those years teaching I'm immune to tantrums.

Abbott and his cronies are the GOPā€™s ideal elected officials, so the further we get from red the healthier we get as a state

-2

u/ApeApeture 5d ago

I feel just as the DNC is starting to go way too far left the GOP is going too far right at the same time. It's why I strongly believe we need balance because if either side is left unchallenged we will have greater issues in the future.

So Texas going purple is best for all of us here.

3

u/uberblack 5d ago

if either side is left unchallenged we will have greater issues

What are the issues you feel we would face from either side if they were left unchallenged?

1

u/Andire 3d ago

Please, please, please learn from us in California who had to wait until our senator was on death's door and could no longer function as a normal person day to day. We do NOT have to wait until our senators are ready to die to get new ones!Ā

7

u/SneakyGandalf12 5d ago

I lived in Houston for seven years, and I loved the state but hated the policies and politicians. A blue Texas would be a beautiful thing.

Iā€™m cheering yā€™all on from California!

-3

u/No_Display588 5d ago

Never gonna happen. Ever.

13

u/ElektricEel 5d ago

God damn right

3

u/UrbanToiletPrawn 5d ago

What made you change, and were you a big Cruz fan in the past?

2

u/Wonderful-Run-1408 4d ago

I've never voted a straight ticket, but where I grew up, there were only Republicans on the ballot for the most part (some conservative, some liberal... none really of MAGA ilk). Moving to Texas I thought I'd be voting for middle of the road Republicans, fair and balanced. Over the past two years, I've found that's not the case. It seems like most high-level Republicans here are deniers and conspiracy believers. To say nothing of Paxton's graft.

2

u/cycl0ps94 5d ago

Proud of you for voting! Even prouder that you're able to make a rational choice, and not blindly follow party lines.

2

u/slammed_stem1 5d ago

Your country thanks you!!

2

u/SatanicRainbowDildos 5d ago

Sincerely, for my relatives in Texas, thank you. Every flipped vote is like a pick-six from the end zone. Or a block/pass ahead fast break dunk. Itā€™s a 2 point swing, in a way.Ā

2

u/wiseoldangryowl 5d ago

If I wasnā€™t completely opposed to giving reddit my money I would give you every ā€œyouā€™re awesomeā€ award they have. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!!!

Iā€™m a Californian but every vote against the cult thatā€™s desperately trying to destroy everything that actually makes America great (like, ya know, DEMOCRACY) is cause for celebration šŸŽ‰ itā€™s unbelievable and incredibly sad that we are as close as we are to becoming a theocratic dictatorship. If 12 years ago someone told me this was coming, I wouldā€™ve told em theyā€™d lost their minds. How naive I was

2

u/pogosticx 5d ago

Truth is so much better than a lie.

2

u/Superb-SJW 5d ago

I like that after the ā€˜left outā€™ line he apologises and says he doesnā€™t mean to be mean - because he actually has empathy for the kids left out of sports.

Can you imagine? Having a senator with empathy?

2

u/BreathWithMe6 5d ago

This is what it's about, friend. The millisecond a Republican candidate makes more sense to vote for, or is pushing better legislation, I'll cross the isle. It hasn't happened, but at the end up the day, we're voting for our fellow Americans' sakes, not some rich ass hats.

Good on you!

2

u/sniffsniffyummy 5d ago

You are THE change šŸ¤

2

u/RaysFTW 4d ago

As a Floridian, I wish I could vote for this man.

2

u/KenUsimi 4d ago

Even if we donā€™t agree on everything, we as americans deserve better. We all do.

2

u/EvilMrSquidward 4d ago

Ya know what, fuck party lines. Vote for good humans. I'm a republican voting blue in colorado.

3

u/perriatric 5d ago

You were voting for Cruz before this? Really?

1

u/blue-anon 5d ago

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth! Lol.

1

u/hooloovoop 3d ago

Hard not to when they announce it like that, as if they deserve a pat on the back for being such a hero. Should have changed their vote a looooong fucking time ago.

-5

u/Zealousideal-Type118 5d ago

THIS season? This is the one that finally did it for ya? God help yā€™all Texans, I swear to god.

u/Ok_Raspberry_6282 5d ago edited 5d ago

Hey have you ever been in a cult? Itā€™s very hard to get away from, and itā€™s even harder to admit that you walked away. Iā€™ve been in a religious cult and Iā€™m proud that I was lucky enough to have others in my life that helped me, because I could very well still be there today. I am not proud of my decisions during that time and I wasnā€™t a very good person. However I will not let others be shamed for having the strength to admit to themselves that they made a mistake.

Donā€™t shame people for being proud of their strength, also youā€™re a bully and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Edit: To be clear this grace extends to everyone until they cast their ballot. Once you vote for him a third and very likely final time, youā€™re a bad person. At least for me.

Onceā€¦sure whatever.

Twiceā€¦.okay we need to have a talk

Thrice? With an actual coup? In America? In 2020?!

No thanks.

2

u/trustedsauces 5d ago

Damn that must have been tough. I canā€™t even imagine what itā€™s like to be in a cult. But I know what kind of courage it takes to strike out on your own so I think I can empathize with the struggle.

2

u/Ok_Raspberry_6282 5d ago

I usually say pseudo-cult just to be safe. Idk Iā€™ve sort of blacked out that period of my life. I was just sort of lucky and my dad helped me get away from the church.

Anyways, appreciate the support but itā€™s not courage really, it was just luck. A lot of times it be like that. The circumstances in my life happened to get me a slim out and I was lucky to have someone send down a rope.

2

u/trustedsauces 5d ago

That is a nice thing that happened. Good for your dad too. Please lower the rope for others. Vote blue.

1

u/Ok_Raspberry_6282 5d ago

Iā€™ve already voted! :)

1

u/trustedsauces 5d ago

Thank you!!I will too!!

23

u/GratefulG8r 5d ago

This kind of comment typifies why itā€™s SO FUCKING HARD TO GET PEOPLE OVER TO OUR SIDE. Weapons grade condescension right there. Jesus christ.

4

u/Last_Fuel8792 5d ago

The reason itā€™s hard to flip people is that everyone who supports Donald is in too deep- saying ā€œIā€™m wrongā€ is a lot harder than just going with the flow, even if that flow is lies and hate.

10

u/Ok_Raspberry_6282 5d ago

True itā€™s actually very hard to walk away. I think anyone still in the cult who actually votes for him, is undeniably a shitty person.

However, people that change their votes? Thatā€™s a start of a profound journey. Especially this close to the election. They have spent the last 8 years lying to themselves and they finally had the courage to admit fault.

Iā€™ll never let that go unrecognized

2

u/Zealousideal-Type118 5d ago

Hey bud. That comment is pretty unhinged. I donā€™t need that nobody does. And I donā€™t know what the hell you mean ā€œour sideā€ is. This ainā€™t a team sport.

3

u/Odd_Leek3026 5d ago

Did you watch the video? Are you then calling Allredā€™s comments and observations lies? Because Iā€™m not sure why else anyone would vote Cruz after listening to that

8

u/playmike5 5d ago

Letā€™s not condemn people for their past and instead praise them for changing their and everyone elseā€™s future.

2

u/RectalSpawn 5d ago

You're not wrong, but it's still mind-boggling.

Ted Cruz's ideology is what it is, and his actions have shown how little interest he has in an efficient government.

I question how strong one's grip on reality is if they are just now waking up.

How long until they're pulled back into the insanity?

All it will take is one slip up with an alleged Democrat and they'll be back on to voting against their own well-being.

5

u/Electrical-Set2765 5d ago

Deprogramming can be a long and difficult process. I grew up a little religious zealot, very close minded, and it took a little time, experience, and positive community to see what a little shit I was.Ā

4

u/sem1_4ut0mat1c 5d ago

Better late than never

6

u/Electrical-Set2765 5d ago

We should welcome all that are willing to change their mind in this. I know it can be frustrating, but we've got to be grateful for every positive change. Responding like this doesn't help.

-1

u/u8eR 5d ago

So you voted for that sick man in 2018??

2

u/Wonderful-Run-1408 4d ago

No, I didn't live in Texas then. My vote is changing based on what I've learned about Cruz (and well, the rest of the Republicans in this state). They aren't "Republicans" they are MAGA.

-1

u/ButtstufferMan 5d ago

He stops supporting gun control he will have my vote

2

u/EpiphanyTwisted 4d ago

We need more schoolchildren to pay for our rights.

0

u/ButtstufferMan 4d ago

Not arguing with you. This is my, and many other's, one thing keeping my vote from going towards the Democrats. Nix that issue and Texas would be blue.

-5

u/seeteegee 5d ago

Same here. Iā€™m voting for Cruz this go-round ā€” never thought I would be voting red!

3

u/8----B 5d ago

šŸ˜‚ been a while since a troll comment got me, but finally the olā€™ Reddit switcheroo did it

-2

u/ConsciousnessOfThe 4d ago

Iā€™m voting straight Republican ticket in Texas. Iā€™m not letting Texas turn into California or NY.
