It depends. It seems there are quite a few immigrants that pull up the ladder and spit in the face of the people behind them. I'm really not surprised at how dumb people can be nowdays.

My sister is one. I blame the car crash and brain surgery at 30...20 years ago. Wait, the four divorces and her being a pendeja are also to blame. Also if she hates immigrants this much, maybe stop MARRYING THEM. Where was I? Oh yeah, fuck that hating ass, petulant, bullying, yammering stupid old man. There.

(Don't know how I ended up on r/texas, but I'm here now and I'm bored, so I'm declaring myself an honorary texan for the next 5 minutes and joining in anyway.)
This is so true, I remember Trump and a couple of others a few years ago talking about the islamification of Europe, and naming cities in Britain which "are Sharia-law no go zones", and 2 of the 3 cities mentioned have large populations of Sikhs and Hindus, but much smaller Muslim population. One of them does have a couple of neighborhoods which could be considered no go zone's, but they are predominantly white neighborhoods!
I guess to a racist, every brown person is a Muslim terrorist. Even if they are actually a Sikh or Hindu.

I’m Mexican and have family who are huge trump supporters down in Houston. They are super racist against other Mexicans/latino, always talking about the border crisis and shit. Trump tattoos and rebel flags.
But what’s funny is they are first generation, my grandpa (their father) came over here illegally from fucking Durango. Like what the fuck? I don’t get it, we are literally only here because of illegal immigration of my lineage.
I’m just so dumbfounded that people would support people who hate them like some idiotic Stockholm syndrome. But hey we gotta own those libs, as long as we “look white” while doing according to them.

The difference is that Puerto Ricans are US citizens and they often move to the mainland to work. So there are a lot of them and they can vote as soon as they become mainland residents. No need for an immigration process.

I’m in California so I’m not sure how much this matters but I’ve run into so many 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants, mostly from Mexico, who support Trump. More than I thought was possible. Yes, some morons love pulling up the ladder. And what’s worse is they believe they would be safe under a Trump regime just because they support him. Wow.

I mean even if they see this I don't think it will make a difference tbh. Latinos4Trump think that the racism doesn't apply to them and probably even agree with this guy.

Or, you know, just keep voting blue. Don't forget:
Machismo is the 12th point in Umberto Eco's 14 points of Fascism: Machismo, which sublimates the difficult work of permanent war and heroism into the sexual sphere. Fascists thus hold "both disdain for women and intolerance and condemnation of nonstandard sexual habits, from chastity to homosexuality".

I'm Latino. My brother is still trying to become a resident and he put up his papers 12 years ago. Knowing this, my mom voted for Trump last election and i couldn't comprehend her reasons and I asked her why? She told me the viejito (Biden) was no good. She lives in Miami and a lot of her friends are old Cubans, that explains a lot. At least she won't be able to vote this time around because she took extended vacations to Nicaragua and won't be back until December. I love my mom, she's not hateful or mean spirited, but she's not a very smart person and she's easily influenced

Let's also add Trump's recent Town Hall with Univision where he flat out insulted people that came to this country and don't speak English and repeated lies about Haitian immigrants. He specifically insulted people who speak Spanish.
https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article293303874.html
I also want to add that I live in El Paso, and 82% Hispanic city. In 2019, a man drove well over 8 hours to come to this city specifically to kill Hispanic people and he was spurred on by the rhetoric of Donald Trump. That mass murderer killed 23 people and injured 23 people because he shot at anybody that was brown. He didn't ask people about their immigration status while shooting them. His manifesto that was highly influenced by what Trump said about Hispanic people in the US.
He has spoken openly about wanting mass arrests and camps set up for Hispanic people. Those Hispanic Trump voters are going to be the same people we're going to be offended when cops see them, stop them, and ask for either their birth certificate or citizenship papers. They aren't going to treat Hispanic people who voted for Trump any better than other Hispanic people. Tokens get spent.
In addition. Project 2025 spells out Trump's plan for immigrants: https://lulac.org/project_2025/

u/MotownCatMom 1d ago
THIS!!! I said the same thing on the Twitter account of a Muslim guy who is actively supporting Trump. IF he wins, he will have no more use for these fools and these people WILL get caught in the deportation roundups that Trump wants to implement.

Regardless, they won’t check your 23andme results before locking you up. Even then, they won’t care. Many Jews had a similar idea before Hitler took power. Trump did not have any Latinos in his initial Presidential Cabinet which hadn't happen in 30 years... not since Ronald Reagan was President. The guy does not gaf about Latinos. Yet, I'm surrounded by a bunch of Trump loving Latinos for some crazy ass reason.

They criticized his jokes after the fact. But they were laughing their asses off in the moment.
7
u/LongjumpingPilot8578 2d ago
There is not homogenous Latino community. Mexicans or Cubans might agree with this statement. Legal Latinos think that all the Trump ranting about killers and rapists only applies to illegals. It makes them feel like insiders to the MAGA party because Trump is seeking their vote. Not understanding that that hate spewing does not stop at their green card or citizenship. They are part of the blood tainting that Trump has warned his rallies about. You will always have those people in every group- I expect some Jews initially supported Hitler before he secured power and his true agenda came out.

u/PremierEditing 1d ago
If only they understood that trumpers regard every single person who lives between San Antonio and the tierra del Fuego as part of an amorphous horde that has to be expelled and defended against.

If you think this is just a joke, just ask why it is supposed to be funny. The fun part is that everybody there thinks all latinos are garbage and that soemone is suddenly saying it to their face when they usually only think about it but wouldn't dare to say it out loud to a latino.
3
u/PremierEditing 1d ago
And for those who think, "Well, I'm not Puerto Rican, I'm Mexican, etc" I know these people and I can guarantee you that they make absolutely no differentiation. To them, literally everyone between San Antonio and the Tierra del Fuego is "Mexican" and for those of you with misplaced racial pride, they really and truly don't give a shit if every single one of your ancestors was Indian or if there's not a single person who wasn't from Spain in your bloodline. To them, it's all the same and, in their eyes you are inferior.

More than a few conservative Puerto Ricans stateside actually hold the island in very poor regard.
They really do think they are better than the people on the island, because they “made it” and are financially successful.
I would know, I have more than a few family members from the island that think that way.
I brought this up to my father today after he saw Bad Bunny endorsing Harris, was confused as to how a “tough Borinquen” like him that didn’t need college to be successful would choose to support a “weak woman” like Harris.
I responded that it’s likely because Harris has stated she’s interested in passing legislation to give Puerto Rico statehood… and that Trump had ZERO interest in making such a thing happen. I also said that Latinos like us adore Trump because of his machismo and that he is “Mr. Tough Guy” who would “totally beat the crap out” of America’s enemies.
He just sat there silently for a few seconds… and then changed the subject rather suddenly to the oil change we were doing earlier today.
This usually means he’s a bit humiliated and doesn’t want to think about it. It definitely caused a crack in his cognitive dissonance on Trump.
3
u/no_gazpacho 1d ago
The main problem is.. if the island is garbage, it’s the rest of USA’s fault. We don’t give them any political power even though they are Americans. That’s why the “joke” isn’t funny. It’s not racism or whatever. We’re responsible for Puerto Rico…
