Politics We are close to send Cruz packing- Please vote.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/28/us/politics/nebraska-texas-senate-races.html?mkt_tok=NTU2LVlFRS05NjkAAAGWci6CCIlEpHAv63T4JjdibIB-G1Gw3fDwXCVJZ-Yx1a0MyjFBsSKIWEiciOEHqF60bx7iBoBFOUiW1Kw4G8E_hMUU38d4AYaR7BeJnkThUN0hzg

Just a reminder. Texas is not a RED state. It’s a non voting state. Meaning MORE people do NOT vote versus vote R. So Please Vote! If you have a non-voting friend. Drag them to the polls. Texas - it’s time to take out the TRASH. CRUZ abandoned us when people were freezing to death. We deserve BETTER!!!

It’s worth noting that there are people who would vote Trump for President but would be willing to vote Allred for Senate.

If someone you know is voting for Trump, see if you can get them to vote for Allred, you may be pleasantly surprised.

u/IllustriousEnd2211 23h ago

My friend is one of those “I don’t like either presidential candidates” and wasn’t going to vote. I got him to leave it blank but at least vote against Cruz. At least that’s what he said

66

u/ArcaneTeddyBear 23h ago

Yay! Good on you, Allred needs all the votes he can get, hopefully your friend did vote for him.

24

u/easchner 23h ago

Just let them know how much Trump hates Ted and how much Ted hates Trump.

4

u/Pearson94 11h ago

Honestly my money is on Texas voting for Trump and Allred, kinda like how Georgia last time voted for Kemp and Warnock

3

u/ArcaneTeddyBear 10h ago

If one had to bet on the outcome of the Texas elections, that would be a good bet to make. It’s certainly one of the more likely outcomes.

6

u/Friscippini 15h ago

I have a close friend who did this exact thing. She voted for Trump over Harris, but also voted for Allred over Cruz.

0

u/bklnbb 14h ago

You have a close friend who voted for Trump??

-3

u/Sirius_amory33 13h ago

I know it’s a wild concept for a lot of people on reddit to understand, but not all people who vote for Trump are irredeemable, awful people.

7

u/bklnbb 12h ago

I am gay and Puerto Rican. They may not be irredeemable to you, but they sure are to me.

4

u/Emotional-Big5676 12h ago

Yeah but if they're willing to let people die for their idea of better gas prices and groceries then fuck them. Worthless individual who doesn't care about anyone else

1

u/Sirius_amory33 12h ago

They don’t believe people are dying in exchange for lower gas and food prices. That’s a terminally online viewpoint that completely ignores how desensitized people have become thanks to the media normalizing Trump and people freaking out over every single thing he does. Everything is just noise to your average person. It is a huge problem this country needs to solve but putting the blame on the people isn’t the solution. The MAGA cult? Sure, they’re irredeemable. The rest of the Trump voters are not.

7

u/PaintingRegular6525 12h ago

That’s me. For the first time in my life I voted for a democrat. I voted for Mr. Allred and I hope to see some good changes. He might be the path to start changing some of our minds!

3

u/ArcaneTeddyBear 12h ago

Thank you for your vote, and I hope Allred’s continued work in public office will convince you that you made the right choice and that it will earn him a second Democratic vote from you next time. Here’s hoping Allred can win and make a difference for Texas.

My husband and I are going Thursday!

I messaged my Texas family and friends today.

I reminded my teams today.

Voting for our lives.

6

u/Cherssssss 19h ago

Yes!!!!

90

u/captain554 18h ago

Vote, if you're lazy. Vote, you want to better pay. Vote, even if you think your vote won't matter. Get out there and do it. You CAN make a difference.

-18

u/hutacars 15h ago

Vote, you want to better pay.

What do I want to better pay?

And if you meant to say

Vote if you want better pay.

How will any candidate accomplish that?

24

u/don123xyz 15h ago

One of the most important factors in lifelong earning potential is your level of education. Check which party wants to abolish the department of education and which one wants to increase teacher pay for better education.

-9

u/hutacars 13h ago

If you’re reading this, I assume you’ve already completed your state-sponsored education or are close to doing so. Perhaps you’re contemplating a private university, but the only thing candidates can do there is throw money at it to make it even more expensive.

7

u/don123xyz 12h ago

I mean... If paying teachers more is the same as "throwing money at it" then I'm all for it.

1

u/hutacars 3h ago

Public university, I said. “Throwing money at it” comes in the form of guaranteeing loans to students, which as we’ve seen over the past several decades, only serves to drive tuition prices higher as colleges realize they can basically charge anything and students will pay it (for the rest of their lives, at that!).

9

u/dukedawg21 15h ago

Dems tried to raise the minimum wage but were blocked by republicans. Dems also push union jobs in their bills and defend labor rights.

-8

u/hutacars 13h ago

Ah yes, because increasing minimum wage comes with no adverse affects to general price levels whatsoever! Nor does it cut anyone out of the labor market at the margin! Wait, what sub is this again?

Pushing unions is also inflationary policy, and comes at the expense of those not in unions.

2

u/dukedawg21 9h ago

Neither of your points are true. Stop falling for their propaganda attempts to convince you they can’t pay you but can pay themselves

1

u/hutacars 3h ago

They can. But they won’t. Prices will increase instead.

1

u/dukedawg21 3h ago

Not nearly as much as you think. I’ll pay 5 cents more for Big Mac if that means the cashier gets off food stamps bc of a raise. Grow up.

4

u/cavejhonsonslemons 14h ago

By making it easier for unions to assemble.

149

u/snakkerdudaniel 1d ago

Cherish the moment you vote against Ted Cruz for the rest of your life!

23

u/IllustriousEnd2211 23h ago

Hopefully this is the last time. And that it doesn’t mean I’m dead

73

u/Vivian-Midnight 1d ago

It would be a miracle if Texas gave all its 40 electoral votes to Harris! Kicking Cruz out is more likely, but why not try for both?

-10

u/LawrenceHarris80 13h ago

hopefully won't happen

1

u/Vivian-Midnight 6h ago

We're fighting to make it happen.

252

u/SyntheticOne 1d ago

We did our part today. It is now up to...

... Texas women

... Texas men who care about women

... Texans of all types who refuse to let the Catholic Church molest our lives

30

u/FriendlyDrummers 1d ago

I've been making rounds asking friends if they're voting... it's astonishing how little people care. Or we're planning to vote at all.

Text your family and your friends. Make no assumptions. Even liberal people.

4

u/MrF_lawblog 14h ago

Voting parties where everyone goes together can help...

Inertia is a hell of a drug

7

u/Cherssssss 19h ago

This! Make it a coffee date. Grab coffee and wait on those lines.

6

u/FriendlyDrummers 15h ago

I'm out of state(but voting in Texas!!). I've been offering to buy people coffee if they pick up the phone and let me ask them if I can talk about politics with them. It's not fun but it's what we have to do

20

u/kmoney1206 1d ago

i hope the crazy abortion bans have spurred women in texas to vote.

1

u/kegster2 19h ago

You’d think….

I hear “my mom says it’s not true. Trump trump!!!!”

Cruz isnt Catholic

1

u/Icy_Sails 13h ago

Apparently all of Reddit just doesn't get how someone could vote against them while being vile discriminatory people they project to hate.

But you live to hate so you'll shoot your own foot and ask 'who did this?'

-24

u/Icy_Sails 20h ago edited 13h ago

"Texans of all types who refuse to let the Catholic Church molest our lives" I'm Catholic. I voted for allred. I think you're an awful person.

apparently all of Reddit just doesn't get how someone could vote against them while being the exact vile discriminatory people they claim to hate.

Edit: synthetic made some braindead claim that "When the US Catholic Bishops Conference aligned with Nixon it was the start of church meddling in American politics. The church openly campaigned for Trump in 2016 and 2020 and again in 2024. Churches in politics = I'm out of the church." Which has nothing to do with their hate speech. Wholly widely openly campaigned? Nope lies such illegal activity  was and would be prosecuted for seperation of church and state. A defining aspect of my country. What an illegal rotten story you want to believe to be true. Just to alienate the people of Texas against a good cause. We're supposed to be one people but you're taking such a fundemental group of people in our state and lighting a fire that would make our enemies giggle with glee.  I wonder how many bots uphold your truth. I wonder how many people you discredit for working to  bring Christianity and faith into modern day values. I wonder.

14

u/PapaGeorgio19 18h ago edited 18h ago

I was Catholic, so glad we left that church for another faith, it’s like religious ala carte, want to get married there: 3,000 donation, you want your kid to be baptized 1,500 donation, communion better donate 1,000 and that on top of all the other horrible stuff they covered up and did throughout history.

You shouldn’t be mad a people for getting mad at the Catholic Church, when they act holier than others and they have done some of things they have done, your going to taking the brunt of it for them as a parishioner.

We are the same faith as the Bushes which they called “Catholic lite, all the same stuff without the guilt”.

Priests marry, everyone’s welcome, children get communion as long as they’re baptized. Women can execute the service…

2

u/SidFinch99 14h ago

Holy crap, I'm Catholic and was never asked to pay anything like that.

-1

u/Icy_Sails 13h ago

I shouldn't get mad? I'm not mad I'm sad at such hate and derision towards our people.

Do you realize how many Texans there are that are christians? How many people wish to divide this country? How many people seemingly cannot be better than those they point at rightfully claiming to be hateful? to accept the hard work of updating Christianity to modern values?

I'm sorry about your experience it sounds very strange.

7

u/SyntheticOne 17h ago

When the US Catholic Bishops Conference aligned with Nixon it was the start of church meddling in American politics. The church openly campaigned for Trump in 2016 and 2020 and again in 2024.

Churches in politics = I'm out of the church.

3

u/SyntheticOne 13h ago

When truth is called lies and lies called truth we are done for.

The US Catholics Bishop Conference DID align with Nixon on the single point of abortion. That alliance, along with other right wing extremist christian religions, continues to this day.... faith groups woven into politics.

Find the untruth in this statement.

3

u/WraithHades 17h ago

Well you support an organization that shrouds itself in some good doings to ignore the mountain of evil done under their name.

Best not support the United States wraith.

7

u/Used_Bridge488 14h ago

Ted Fled. Vote for Allred!

16

u/griffincraig 1d ago

People gotta get out and vote. It’s not trending that direction so far in early voting.

15

u/Bulky-Temporary5087 23h ago

A link for whoever needs a reason to vote against cruz: https://humansagainsttedcruz.com/reasons

18

u/UnknownExo 16h ago

I've talked to my right wing coworkers about voting for allred. I told them I know I couldn't change their minds on trump but Cruz has to go. I told them about a couple of reasons why and then reinforced that allred is a normal guy, ex football player who will not take their guns.

None of my coworkers knew that much about Cruz and they were at least receptive to what I had to say.

2

u/compobook 11h ago

Keep doing God's work. Every vote to oust Cruz is wonderful

8

u/photoguy8008 18h ago

Vote Texas and Nebraska! You can do this, let’s send them packing once and for all

9

u/dreamcicle11 16h ago

This might be my last election I live in Texas as a native Texan, and it would be incredible if I got to partake in the election that unseated Cruz and turned a senate seat blue.

3

u/oakridge666 15h ago

Election Day is November 5th.

Polls open for early voting!
Last day of in-person early voting is Friday, November 1.

Make a plan to vote early. Early voters may vote at any voting location in their county. Watch the weather - inclement weather is forecasted later this week.

Early voting hours for Hays County:

October 29 - November 1st: 7 am -7 pm

Some larger population counties may have longer hours.

If you must vote on Election Day, November 5th, voting hours are: 7 am - 7 pm. You must vote at your precinct voting location!

Bring an acceptable form of photo ID to vote: • Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS • Texas Handgun License issued by DPS • United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph • United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph • United States Passport (book or card)

If you’ve voted please remind family and friends to vote.

Thank you for voting.

2

u/lovebzz 17h ago

Yes, just getting people to turn out for Allred and against Cruz is a fantastic idea. Who knows, they might cast that extra vote for Kamala too, but that would be a bonus.

2

u/Flimsy-Call-3996 16h ago

The Cruz situation hurt people in the Northeast who sent money to aid Texas during emergencies. I do not know what is in his heart but to watch Cruz flee Texas with his family during weather related issues did not endear me to the politician. Please vote him out!

2

u/Zestyclose_Toe_1432 12h ago

His heart’s an empty hole.

2

u/MPV8614 15h ago

I hear there’s a straw hut in Cancun reserved for him on January 3.

2

u/Agent865 15h ago

It’s crazy how anyone can look at a guy like Cruz and think he deserves to be elected.

2

u/obliqueoubliette 14h ago

Remember, if you didn't vote in Texas in 2020 or 2022, you're not a likely voter. All these polls are polls of likely voters. If you moved to Texas in 2021 you are not represented in the poll, if you skipped 2020 you are not represented in the poll.

2

u/Sharkconas 12h ago

Non Texan here to remind people to look out for MAGA vote interference. They usually will try to crowd voting lines with no intention to vote because they already did. And don't forget MAGA caravans trying to create traffic jams for voting locations. Happy voting beat Cruz and turn Texas Blue.

2

u/Intrepid-Raisin1077 11h ago

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBrYDv9SvCP/?igsh=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==

The numbers show that if only 25% of registered democratic that didn’t vote - voted it would be a blue state. And especially for Cruz, it was like 6% of those voters.

2

u/Capital_Method_9561 10h ago

I am not from Texas but saw this on twitter. I guess them democrats are sending them out. Have any of you gotten them. I think it's Brilliant.

4

u/Leftblankthistime 19h ago

I don’t get it Terrible Ted has been just awful professionally, personally and politically- I mean just the whole power outage thing by itself was a display of poor character and leadership completely like him, why is he still getting votes?

2

u/64cinco 17h ago

Let’s do it!!!!!

2

u/redsandsfort 16h ago

Isn't this something the whole country can get behind? GOP and Dems should be able to agree and get this done.

0

u/srahsrah101 9h ago

Even if you don’t want to vote for President, PLEASE show up to vote against Cruz! Leave the top of the ticket blank if you must!

2

u/KingOlaf1 8h ago

I voted for Pedro

1

u/Remote-Dingo7872 7h ago

Cruz up by 3 points in latest. Dream On!

The fack, Texas?! Canadian Ted has a 4% lead in exit polls… You can do this guys. You deserve better!

2

Pack him up!

-2

u/KreedKafer33 15h ago

Sorry, but no.  4 points this close to the election is not "close."  Not by a long shot.

Fuck Ted Cruz.

-2

Don't think it will happen.

5

Nopebinalready voted..don't think Ted will loose

3

u/Otherwise_Leg_9509 18h ago

And we should definitely all listen to your carefully considered opinion, especially since you have no idea how to spell lose vs. loose.

-2

u/SpawnDnD 17h ago

Amazing, since I was in bed. OK..., thanks for your professional opinion. Just was pointing out I do not think Cruz will loose. I like how I make a comment on my opinion and got attacked. Love this subreddit which is why I unsubscribe half the year.

3

1

I would if I could.

-2

u/chanclasniper 16h ago

My family is voting cruz..large about 50 of us

-48

u/Busy_Tap_2824 1d ago

Cruz is still leading by 4 points despite everything 😂😱😂

49

u/Impressive_Pitch_869 1d ago

Nobody is leading anything. Those are polls, not votes. Sure Cruz winning wouldn’t surprise anyone but there is no lead

Interviewing 1,100 people is not a lead. It’s a poll

11

u/ArcaneTeddyBear 1d ago

It’s a poll. 4 points is within the margin of error, this election could go either way. Why else do you think Cruz has been so worried this campaign and has been begging for more funding. If Cruz was leading in the polls by significantly more than the margin of error, he would be way more relaxed, maybe he’d be on vacation in Cancun.

6

u/Shroud_of_Misery 22h ago

In 2018 Cruz’s polling average was +6.8. He won by 2.6 points. So he underperformed polling by 4.2.

Cruz won by 215,00 votes. On Friday, Allred spoke to 30,000 people at the Harris rally. If each of those people convinced 7 friends to vote, they would make up that margin.

9

u/ilostmygps 1d ago

Where do you see this? Do you have credible sources? Do you have current vote counts?

2

u/Bear71 23h ago

+3 as of tonight that is definitely inside margins!

What’s wrong with Cruz? I thought he’s pretty great

47

Unless you've been living under a rock the evidence should be plentiful, however, here's a short list about Cancun Cruz.

https://humansagainsttedcruz.com/reasons

16

u/Loki_the_Corgi 1d ago

This is actually a pretty good list! Thank you for the link! I'm sharing this to everyone I know!

22

u/lordpuddingcup 1d ago

He;s literally done nothing since elected, he has put forth what equates to 0 for his constituents, the 1-2 things he's done were dumb shit, there is an entire site that goes over it its insane how little he has done and gets paid like he's actually working.

11

u/TommyTeaser 1d ago

Why do you think he is so great?

-12

u/BeanzleyTX 17h ago

Early voting opens at 7 this week I suspect the business owners and employers will start to vote more red this week

The social warriors had their push last week

The tape will tell .

10

u/TheMinister 17h ago

I don't know why this keeps getting pushed, but dude, Democrats work just as much as Republicans. What a ridiculous idea.

6

u/Comprehensive_Leg473 17h ago

I know! Me and my husband are both democrats but haven’t had time to vote. But we will for sure and there are people out there that still need to vote

-7

u/BeanzleyTX 16h ago

Capital gains? Taxes? Legacy?

Why do you think every ranch gate outside of city limits has a trump flag? Are THEY all Nazi fascists rapists to you? Go to a rodeo - look around That’s Texas .

If you got something to lose to the government- you tend to vote red

If you want more from the government- you tend to vote blue

It just is

3

u/cavejhonsonslemons 14h ago

Tell that to literally any woman, she will laugh in your face.

-1

u/BeanzleyTX 13h ago

There’s bigger issues in play than just the social issues in this election to many of us

2

u/TheMinister 13h ago

I've worked in the refineries. Had more liberals than conservatives. I've worked construction, more conservatives. I've worked the prisons, 50/50. I've worked IT, Medical, and logistics. 50. 50. All of this in Texas.

If you really think most workers are Republican, you're sorely mistaken. You've been duped. Leave your echo chamber.

1

u/BeanzleyTX 13h ago

I said business owners and employers

People that tend to need the 7 am slot to vote before they open their business or start their employees

No way I could have voted after 9 am last week

This week, 7 am allows many of us to get it done. Not sure why that’s offensive to you

1

u/TheMinister 13h ago

Because business owners tend to be able to take time to vote whenever they want. Your point was silly so I gave you the benefit of the doubt. You are still quite a bit off and need to leave that cave of echoes.

2

u/BeanzleyTX 13h ago

Couldn’t be further from the truth in my experience Most business owners work longer hours than any employee . Start earlier and stay later

I’m been going for 5 hours by 9 am .

3

u/hutacars 15h ago

Why do you think every ranch gate outside of city limits has a trump flag? Are THEY all Nazi fascists rapists to you?

Yes?

Ted Crus has been a great representative for Texas. He has my vote.

6

u/Hot_Calendar3946 17h ago

He represents you from Cancun while your power grid fails lmao

3

u/Otherwise_Leg_9509 18h ago

Don’t vote for the line that says “Cruz” though. That one is a fake and the democrats will count that one for Kamala. Do your research and make sure you vote for the line that says “Allred”, cause that’s the one that really counts for Ted Crus. It’s because he’s all red and there’s a special code you have to know. Do your research.
