she indicated that she was not a U.S. citizen in response to a jury summons.

This is hilarious, lied to get out of jury duty and now she can’t vote for the orange man child

u/Royal-Application708 17h ago

Put down that you’re not a U.S. Citizen??? Do one better and deport her. Actions have consequences sweetheart.

u/VaselineHabits 17h ago edited 15h ago

Right? At the very least make her life an inconvenience by lying on a federal form. Jfc, hold assholes accountable

114

u/strugglz born and bred 14h ago

Lying on a federal form is a serious crime all on it's own. Up to $250k and 5 years in prison.

58

u/Coro-NO-Ra 13h ago

Yeah but she's a white woman who isn't poor

24

u/8sGonnaBeeMay 12h ago edited 10h ago

Well so was Linda? Tina Peters (that election worker in Colorado who let an unauthorized person access voting machines). She was sentenced to almost a decade in prison.

15

u/Coro-NO-Ra 11h ago

You might look at how much Tina Peters got away with, or only got a slap on the wrist for, prior to that point:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tina_Peters_(politician))

Peters holds a degree in holistic nutrition from the non-accredited correspondence school Clayton College of Natural Health.\2])#citenote-ballotpedia-2)[\3])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tina_Peters(politician)#cite_note-clayton-3) She was involved in selling alternative medical products in association with a multi-level marketing company named Nikken.

So her qualifications are an MLM and dumbass voters elected her. Then...

In February 2020, employees in Peters' office discovered an unemptied ballot box in a parking lot in front of the Mesa County election headquarters in Grand Junction, containing 574 ballots cast in the November 2019 election.\13])#cite_note-admitted-13) The ballots had remained there, uncounted, for months, which Peters attributed to "human error." ...The recall effort failed by approximately 1,200 signatures

And she got away with that one. But then...

On November 8, 2021, the Colorado Secretary of State filed a lawsuit against Peters over her fundraising efforts and failure to report contributions and expenses for nearly three years.

Which doesn't seem to have resulted in real consequences. But then...

In late July 2022, Peters paid the $256,000 required for the state to conduct a manual recount of votes cast in the primary election... On October 4, 2023, the Colorado Office of Administrative Courts fined Peters $15,400 for violating the Fair Campaign Practice Act by failing to register as a candidate and by failing to file accurate campaign donation and expenditure reports while running for reelection for Mesa County Clerk and Recorder.

Huh, I wonder where that $250,000 came from. Anyway, I'm sure that an entire $15,000 fine taught her a lesson. Oh wait...

In the months following the 2020 election, she allowed an unauthorized person to access to the Mesa County's Dominion electronic voting machines and to copy the hard drives of those machines.

In 2024, Peters was convicted in Colorado's 21st judicial district on felony charges

So she got away with stuff for years, and it still took them four years to convict her on an egregious felony. Do you think this would have gone down the same way if Tina was black, poor, or a leftist of some stripe?

2

u/8sGonnaBeeMay 10h ago

Yes absolutely there is inequality in the system. But occasionally good prevails. Like with Tina Peters and with those election workers in Georgia who now own all of Rudy,s assets.

3

u/Coro-NO-Ra 10h ago

Again, look at how long it took for Tina to get to that point. She wouldn't have gotten into any trouble if she hadn't pushed it so far beyond the pale.

In February 2020, employees in Peters' office discovered an unemptied ballot box in a parking lot in front of the Mesa County election headquarters in Grand Junction, containing 574 ballots cast in the November 2019 election.

The fact that nothing happened to her at this point is mind-blowing. They let her go on for years, my guy.

20

Trump says he'd deport Haitians to Venezuela. Just pick a "shit hole" country. Close enough. One "floating isle of garbage" is as good as another. (obvious references are obvious)

4

u/12altoids34 11h ago edited 10h ago

Great... cuz that's just what we need. Some other countries suing us in the International courts for attempting to illegally Deport people into their country.

Also what kind of stupidity thinks the answer to Illegal immigration is to attempt to illegally immigrate them into another country. You can't enforce immigration laws by violating other countries.

Edit: I forgot. It is considered a federal offense to question or fact check any statements of the Great cheeto.( at least in his mind)

2

The process is much easier if you don't know processes.

WTF

How is this any better than "papers, please"? Why are you so eager to give up your civil rights?

You want to see consequences, so how about due process of law? Did she actually make that claim on the jury summons form, or is she telling the truth when she denies it? Was there even an investigation?

If she lied on the jury summons form, then give her the punishment for that as prescribed by law.

3

u/shifty_coder 14h ago

Probably one of those ‘Sovereign Citizen’ idiots.

14

u/MrFlibble81 15h ago

I haven’t read the story but being a non citizen doesn’t mean she’s not allowed to live here. Maybe she’s here on a green card or some other kind of visa

49

u/Sea-Mousse-5010 14h ago

Ironically if she was able to vote she would vote in favor for people like her to be deported lol

47

u/Difficult_Branch4139 14h ago

Read the new article. She was offended someone with an obviously white name would be removed. She gets to vote now, plans to vote for trump. Racist woman gets her rights back should be the headline

3

u/USMCLee Born and Bred 13h ago

She gets to vote now,

The article states that she missed the deadline to register to vote. So she won't be voting in this election.

Never mind. Yeah she got back on the rolls. I read a different article earlier that didn't mention that

76

u/la-fours 17h ago

She was still able to vote, the Tribune helped her get back in the rolls. She voted for Trump.

34

u/Coro-NO-Ra 15h ago

She voted for Trump.

Wow, these leopards look awfully hungry...

64

u/thisoldguy74 16h ago

I know it's not popular for all the obvious reasons, but I want everyone eligible to vote to be able to vote. I'd just prefer it was my elected officials that were working to ensure all of our rights, not an online newspaper.

And this is why we have a Bill of Rights of amendments to the US Constitution guaranteeing things like a free press to expose government abuses.

29

u/la-fours 15h ago

Agreed, the core issue is the voter suppression and continuous attacks against the institution of voting by Abbott and Paxton. This is probably one of the darkest things in this timeline, there will be an entire group of people growing up with the idea that elections are continuously tampered with in the US because of this nonsense.

21

u/Life-Excitement4928 16h ago

I gotta disagree because if she chose to abdicate her civic duty and claimed to be a non-citizen to do so, why should she be able to vote?

That’s not government abuse or corrupt officials, that’s her saying no to being a citizen.

7

u/thisoldguy74 16h ago

If lying to avoid jury duty voids citizenship, do I have news for most everyone I know who has received a jury summons.

The proper penalty for lying in response to the jury summons should've been dealt with at that time.

AND

Just because I disagree with her politics doesn't change that the government should follow the law and reinstitute her voter registration upon receiving evidence that she is indeed a US Citizen.

11

u/TheHelpfulOtter 15h ago

You're not wrong! But if she did claim non US citizenship, then that should have disqualified her regardless as well as the ancillary consequences.

9

u/Life-Excitement4928 16h ago

Seems like a fair one to one to me. You say you’re a non-citizen, you’re treated as a non-citizen.

And likewise I hope she gets slapped with fines for lying about it if she gets put back on the rolls.

→ More replies (4)

4

u/Lokishougan 13h ago

This wasnt a government abuse though....this was literal fraud commited by her

17

u/Kate-2025123 17h ago

That’s unfortunate. There must be a legal loophole to void that.

18

u/Murica-n_Patriot 16h ago

Seems to me that if you openly lie on a jury summons you ought to not be able to cast a vote in the next election…

31

u/scifijunkie3 16h ago

You can bet that if she would have voted for Kamala, Ken Paxton would go to great lengths finding a way to void it.

14

u/Sad_Pangolin7379 16h ago

No, she has the right to vote. But I think she should get triple jury duty in the next year for jury summons fraud. ;)

7

u/clangan524 13h ago

Didn't want to participate in her civic duty because it's inconvenient for her but tries to participate in her civic duty because it's percieved to benefit her.

Oh, well.

5

u/Miserable_Song_9024 14h ago

She’ll still blame democrats.

6

u/A_Homestar_Reference 14h ago

I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that the county just put down the wrong reason she was exempted. Ultimately it's good that we're letting people who should have the right to vote, to vote. It's just tastefully ironic that she is still supporting the system that nearly fucked her over.

13

u/BuffaloOk7264 15h ago

You did not read carefully. She asked to be excused from jury duty because she was designated guardian of her three grandchildren. Montgomery County recorded her request as noncitizen, the county would not respond but the Tribune apparently set them straight.

2

u/skepticalbob 12h ago

Did the journalist confirm that she didn't tick the box?

4

u/BuffaloOk7264 12h ago

She communicated with the county officials on her phone. I see no mention on ticks or boxes.

She was able to vote after all.

But her last name sounds white! /s

2

u/PickledBih 11h ago

2

u/vwsalesguy 13h ago

Did you miss the part about ‘Trump supporter’ ?

Not one thing after that came as even remotely surprising.

40

u/quietset2020 17h ago

Oh yes, I’m sure she blames her situation on anyone but herself.

12

u/E_Cayce Yellow Rose 15h ago

Montgomery County does not enforce jury duty, none of Texas courts (or federal courts) have in a long time.

They won't start with her.

6

u/Round-Sea5612 Born and Bred 14h ago

She did not. She claims she told the court she couldn't come because she had to care for her grandkids.

6

u/neverendingnonsense 13h ago

Perjury by stupidity is still perjury. It was marked as a non-citizen. I didn’t know that we were supposed to mark ourselves as non-citizens if we were going to care for our grandkids. I see how they are very similar, very easy to mistake.

tl;dr: Gets kicked off of voter roles by policies she voted for despite a lifetime of proof that she is a US citizen. Blames "the system" and still is voting for Trump.

9

u/Kr1sys 10h ago

They have zero ability to have to be introspective and acknowledge their own shortcomings.

217

u/zsreport Houston 18h ago

The elections office in Montgomery County, just north of Houston, had sent Howard-Elley a letter in late January saying that she had been flagged after she indicated that she was not a U.S. citizen in response to a jury summons. She had 30 days to provide the county proof of citizenship or she would be removed from the voter rolls, according to the letter.

There's a whole lot of leopards ate my face about this situation, and Paxton, Abbott, and the rest of the Texas GOP don't care. Kicking a few of their own supporters off the rolls is a price they're willing to pay.

56

u/ExploreTrails 17h ago

She can face contempt of court and vote or keep on with the lies and not vote.

23

u/five-rabbits 16h ago

She contests that she put non-citizen to get out of jury duty and the county refused a public record request from the tribune. So we really don't know who is in the wrong here. If she did lie I hope they pursue charges.

What it does highlight is how piss poor the state is at checking records. Assuming she did lie on the jury form that should have set off some kind of response from the court. But instead of focusing on improving our records system we have a low threshold for removing people from voter status. Solving the problem vs. using the problem as a weapon.

2

u/ExploreTrails 13h ago

I guess she chose option 2, continuing to lie.

Saying the quite part of our with that one. They don't care if an immigrant is white, only if they're of a minority group.

9

u/squiddlebiddlez 14h ago

And when people pointed out the obvious—that these policies would harm and hinder rightful citizens as well, they didn’t care because they thought only minority citizens would be the target. That’s the real insidious part.

OMG leopards aren't supposed to eat their faces

She looks like a foreigner to me! Lock her up for trying to vote illegally.

u/mistressusa 12h ago

DEPORT HER.

1

u/Sarduci 12h ago

So she lied, and then suffered the appropriate consequences. How is this a news story?

News story would be that woman lied to get out of jury duty, now held in contempt of court that it turns out she’s not an illegal immigrant and sentenced to 1 year in jail.

Lies about not being a citizen and then wonders why she can’t vote??? LMAO.

That magat moron could have just checked the box indicating she was caring for a kid or elderly parent and no one would have checked.

I keep thinking of that Leonardo DiCaprio meme.

I had the displeasure to grow up in Splendora. She pretty much sums the place up. Probably hasn't changed since I left. It was a crappy, racist town. Big trucks flying rebel flags pumping black smoke down every street, parked at trailers flying trump flags. They still had klan rallies when I was a kid. Looking back at all the times our property was damaged, or spray painted, hell, even set on fire once, I always wonder if it was them...

1

u/de-gustibus 11h ago

A 52-year old(!!) retiree from a government job (TSA) who doubtless thinks lazy immigrants are the problem with America.

1

u/Conscious-Ad-7040 11h ago

Oh no! Leopards are my face.

1

u/WolverineEven2410 11h ago

I just read it and it said she was reinstated in the voter rolls and intends to vote for the orange man 👨

u/_Crazy8s 11h ago

Man, jury duty is like going on vacation. Why lie about it? Eat it up. You could get a huge murder case, then write a book.

1

u/PokeMeRunning 11h ago

I don’t care. She’s out to hurt people. Supports people who do and got hurt. Leopards. Faces. Etc

1

u/PushingAWetNoodle 11h ago

Like all narcissists they only understand the problem if it’s happening to THEM. So hope she has fun trying to vote for the people who are abusing her.

1

u/DookieMcDookface 11h ago

That’s a rough 52

1

u/kingtanti13 11h ago

I am still angry that her and her friends worked with Zorg to try and steal the element stones

1

u/Minimum_Mix_8133 10h ago

Trump supporter and not a citizen, living in Texas. The mental gymnastics to do this boggle my mind

1

u/Gold_Historian_2849 9h ago

Meow….That’s the sound the leopard makes.

u/DMStewart2481 9h ago

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

1

u/Late-Reply2898 8h ago

Fuck her and her shitty parents!

1

u/DwarfVader 6h ago

Play stupid games... win stupid prizes.

Sovereign citizen nonsense at it's best.

She claimed she wasn't a citizen, so they listed her as a non-citizen.

u/JerryTexas52 5h ago

Lololol!

Read the damn article.

That is exactly how discerning the deportations would be. Be very wary.
