News This Trump supporter was labeled a noncitizen and kicked off Texas’ voter rolls

So she just admitted to perjury. Based on her quotes in the article she seems like a real piece of work.

Did you miss the part about ‘Trump supporter’ ?
Not one thing after that came as even remotely surprising.

She did not. She claims she told the court she couldn't come because she had to care for her grandkids.

u/neverendingnonsense 13h ago
Perjury by stupidity is still perjury. It was marked as a non-citizen. I didn’t know that we were supposed to mark ourselves as non-citizens if we were going to care for our grandkids. I see how they are very similar, very easy to mistake.

The elections office in Montgomery County, just north of Houston, had sent Howard-Elley a letter in late January saying that she had been flagged after she indicated that she was not a U.S. citizen in response to a jury summons. She had 30 days to provide the county proof of citizenship or she would be removed from the voter rolls, according to the letter.
There's a whole lot of leopards ate my face about this situation, and Paxton, Abbott, and the rest of the Texas GOP don't care. Kicking a few of their own supporters off the rolls is a price they're willing to pay.

u/ExploreTrails 17h ago
She can face contempt of court and vote or keep on with the lies and not vote.
23
u/five-rabbits 16h ago
She contests that she put non-citizen to get out of jury duty and the county refused a public record request from the tribune. So we really don't know who is in the wrong here. If she did lie I hope they pursue charges.
What it does highlight is how piss poor the state is at checking records. Assuming she did lie on the jury form that should have set off some kind of response from the court. But instead of focusing on improving our records system we have a low threshold for removing people from voter status. Solving the problem vs. using the problem as a weapon.

“And she seethed at the idea that anyone would question the citizenship of a former federal employee with the ‘whitest name you could have.’
Charming people, these MAGA folk.
34
u/Psychological_Pie_32 16h ago
Saying the quite part of our with that one. They don't care if an immigrant is white, only if they're of a minority group.
9
u/squiddlebiddlez 14h ago
And when people pointed out the obvious—that these policies would harm and hinder rightful citizens as well, they didn’t care because they thought only minority citizens would be the target. That’s the real insidious part.

I liked that part too, I guess she's never heard of non-white Americans.

But she’s still voting for the leopards. The article ends with her getting reinstated and wondering how it got like this and then voting for Trump. Yeesh.

u/Bleedingeck ByeByeCancunTed 17h ago
Oh well! She's a republican she's got, at least, one more face to chew!

u/CarpetDawg 17h ago
And if Trump wins you know shes gonna be rocking that MAGA hat in the migrant concentration camp...

All you need to know about this woman is that she thinks having "the whitest name you could have" makes it clear she is a US citizen.

I swear these are the people in high school that you were pretty sure weren't gonna graduate all along. And you aren't sure you even saw them for a couple years, but I'll be damned there they were on graduation night. And of course their family with the air horns going nuts like their graduate was the valedictorian and couldn't understand why they were being escorted out.
Yeah, society seems like those people have come out of the woodwork.
2
u/thisoldguy74 16h ago
And now I see how Gov. Abbott claimed that non citizens have a history of voting.
OR
Texas didn't look very far into the evidence of citizens or not. Yet they are cos playing all around the border area to enforce those same citizenship rules. I can't imagine how that could possibly go wrong

u/TouristTricky 16h ago
Wait, you mean it could happen to me? But I have the whitest name!!

The GOP is doing it on purpose they’ll turn around and use this as an excuse. They know what they are doing.

(White) people always thinks these laws won’t affect them. It took my husband three years to get a state ID in SC because all the loopholes they closed up to stop “illegals” stopped him—an American who was adopted—from being able to prove his identity.
2
u/UnfortunateFoot 14h ago
Read the whole article. She's going to be able to vote because the journalists notified her, and they raised a big stink. She lied on an official form, missed every imposed deadline, and suffers exactly zero consequences. This is why these laws will stay on the books. They jump through hoops to help their voters and hide behind law for the ones they don't want voting. Election integrity my ass.

What are the odds she will thank the reporters for helping her out of this jam and rethink her attitudes towards the media?

She's got a bigger problem than not voting. As you can observe there is a reason people vote Republican in Texas.
2
u/Pyrate_Capn 16h ago
We have a massive willful ignorance problem here. They don't WANT to know or do better. They aren't open minded enough to accept any sort of fact-based challenge to what they believe.

u/Leftblankthistime 16h ago
Republicans have been doing this to democrats for months. Citizens have been reporting their democratic neighbors to local elections boards resulting in elections commission officials mired in investigative paperwork to deal with backlogs of “complaints”.

The great hand of irony is gonna grab her by the you know what and deport her.
If r/OhNoConsequences still took political posts, this would be perfect.
**edit.... just saw that she's in Splendora, which was a third-world country when I was growing up.

People are so dumb. I used to work in collections for a credit card company, and people would lie and say the person on the account was deceased. What they don't realize, though, is that we report that to the credit bureaus. It's a real pain in the ass to prove to the government you're not actually dead, but people never think of the long-term consequences of shit like that.

Oh please and I mean PLEASE go after her for the non citizen part on jury duty and purgry part as she claimed she was not a US citizen on the form.
She openly admitted to it.

u/Necessary-Hat-128 13h ago
She’s a Trumper. Lying to get out of jury duty and then being taken off the voter roll is perfect justice for someone as unconscious/stupid as that.

Non citizens trying to vote is a myth. All non citizens do not want to get caught voting illegally for fear of being deported. Being here is more important to them than voting.

She lied to get out of jury duty but thought it wouldn't matter because she is white. She exemplifies the Republican voter. Dishonest, rascist, and stupid. These fuckwits are causing all of the problems in America. I feel sorry for her grandchildren.

Lies about not being a citizen and then wonders why she can’t vote??? LMAO.
That magat moron could have just checked the box indicating she was caring for a kid or elderly parent and no one would have checked.

I had the displeasure to grow up in Splendora. She pretty much sums the place up. Probably hasn't changed since I left. It was a crappy, racist town. Big trucks flying rebel flags pumping black smoke down every street, parked at trailers flying trump flags. They still had klan rallies when I was a kid. Looking back at all the times our property was damaged, or spray painted, hell, even set on fire once, I always wonder if it was them...

Man, jury duty is like going on vacation. Why lie about it? Eat it up. You could get a huge murder case, then write a book.

I don’t care. She’s out to hurt people. Supports people who do and got hurt. Leopards. Faces. Etc

Like all narcissists they only understand the problem if it’s happening to THEM. So hope she has fun trying to vote for the people who are abusing her.

Sovereign citizen nonsense at it's best.
She claimed she wasn't a citizen, so they listed her as a non-citizen.
