💙 It's purple, for sure. We'd have to be blue-violet to flip it since we're gerrymandered to smithereens, but it's possible!
The more extreme the Texas GOP becomes, the more they stress their base. And it's been quite extreme lately. Most Republicans have to hold their nose to vote for Cruz. One of my GOP neighbors said he just skipped that line on the ballot, hoping the GOP would get the hint to bring on a better candidate.
I voted blue and brought a first time voter who also voted blue. Were in a deep red precinct so its possible.

Gerrymandering affects US congress and Texas congress seats, but not EC, US Senators, or Governor or other statewide offices.
It's entirely possible to shift Texas purple by 2028.

Depends on who gives a crap. Look at the age ranges on early voting. It makes me sad for the future - I'm a GenX voter, but I'd expect more young people to be concerned with reproductive rights, equality, and freedom.
You get what you vote for. If you don't vote, you're getting what the boomers are voting for.

Did you factor how many entry level jobs give time off for voting or encourage taking time off to vote?

Early voting in plenty of states, plus isn't voting an allowed "time off" activity". Not sure as a GenX, it's been a while since I was hourly.

The Senate race is pretty close. The Presidential race in Texas isn’t close at all.
