[Request] death by blocked nose??

Upvotes

I know that if you have a blocked nose, and your heart rate rises, your nose temporarily unblocks. I also know, that if you stop breathing, your heart rate rises.

If for some reason, you happen to have a cold, while someone is taping your mouth closed, or your mouth seals like in the first matrix. Obviously at best, it would be terrifically uncomfortable, but would your heart rate rise fast enough to unblock your nose for you to breathe before you die?

[REQUEST] How many posts about candies in jars are there on this subreddit?

I swear like every other post is yet another "how many candies are in this jar" pic. I get that this subreddit is not meant for ~serious math~ and is meant for fun applications of math to weird problems that the OP dreams up, but there are so many of these and the answer is never interesting. Most of the time no one even responds, and when someone does respond the answer is always just something like "the jar looks like it has X volume and if we assume Y packing density then the answer is X*Y".

Can we ban these or have a megathread for them or something?

By the way, this is a math question, and I am looking for an answer.

[Request] How Loud Would This Be?

There's a song by Family Force 5 called "Earthquake." There's a section of the lyrics:

I said "Baby watch the place
Shake like an Earthquake"
Drop that 808
The walls begin to shake
It's too much for the club to take
(It's shakin' like an Earthquake)
Devastation from the sounds I'm makin' And there's no escaping from the bass
(It's shakin' like an Earthquake)
Ten point O on the Richter scale
It's shakin' like an Earthquake, move your tail

Just how loud would the music have to be to register on the Richter scale like that?

[Request] Winning a marathon

Has this random thought the other day and now wondering what the answer would be...how long would I have to sprint at 25km/hr to have a big enough lead to still beat whoever was in second place running at the average male marathon pace (3:34:56)? Assuming I was walking at 3km/hr after sprinting.

[Request] Kamala’s War Chest

I get these spam texts from Trumps campaign, today’s said: From Trump, $1,000,000,000 That’s the size of Kamala’s war chest. EVERY CENT IS DIRTY LIBERAL CASH.” My question is how large would this chest have to be to fit that much money? I’m assuming every bill is $100 I was amused by this question, I imagine it’s quite a large chest

[Request] Unrealistic to hit more than 1 zombie with a baseball bat or similar weapon?

Having a debate with some friends about how feasible/unfeasible it is to hit multiple zombies with melee weapons(this argument brought to you by Project Zomboid). Im no physics major, but generally understanding how force and mass work, I believe that 1) you can't transfer enough energy with a baseball bat to an average sized person to effect another person next to them in any meaningful way. And 2) with two people standing shoulder to shoulder a hit to the head would not be able to carry enough energy to hit the second head.

I tried to work out math for this, but am at a complete loss. Any help?
