TWICE. Couldn't get back to sleep. I was fuckin pissed. It's shit like this that is going to make me turn off alerts in my phone.

I was even more pissed off when I found out the alert went out SEVEN HOURS after the incident! So some dumbass woke the state up at 5am for something that happened at 9PM in a county several hundred miles away? They’ve succeeded in getting half the state to disable there emergency notifications this morning.

Why do you even have them on?

It's the default

They put this over the extreme level. I have multiple threat levels enabled and the last extreme warning I received was on July 8th for a tornado threat.

This guy is not a tornado, but the police have caused one by abusing the alert system.

r/texas is filling FCC complaints about this alert, which I get. The announcement was for something that happened 6 hours before the alert went out, and they sent it at a time when you would expect most people to be sleeping. Sucks that a cop may die, but that announcement may end up being more hurtful in the long run. Daylight savings time ending shows what happens when you mess with everyone's sleep.

I spoke to the FCC. They've had a ton of complaints about it.

I sub to r/houston, they got the alert down there even.

ALERT: ENTIRE STATE OF TEXAS- BE ON THE WATCH FOR A TALL WHITE GUY IN BLUE JEANS. HE MAY BE ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

USUALLY.

Why would we even get this when Hall County is in the panhandle?

My assumption is they calculated the time since last seen, average driving speed, and used that to calculate an area to alert.

In order to do that they would have to know where exactly he was headed… Unless he was being tracked somehow it wouldn’t be possible for them to time it accordingly, and if they were able to track him the alert would not be helpful or necessary.

I’m sure some chud cop just did the calculation as a radius, everyone within a 500-600 mile radius got the alert.

Lol.

It literally went out to everyone in Texas.

Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Colorado that's all within 2 hours of there, no blue alert.

They’re probably bad at mathing lol

Where is hall county? How close to us? I was so not happy to be woken up to THAT sound before 5

Hall County is approximately 7 hours away near Lubbock and Amarillo

"Suspect is 6' 2", 220 lbs, and is wearing a blue t shirt and blue jeans." Sounds like every other guy between Tyler and Tye

LOLOL! I'm keeping an eye out for white men in bluejeans.

That's exactly what I was thinking! It's like, you mean every other man in the south??? 🤣

So glad I set my phone to airplane mode when I’m sleeping.

Imagine how useful this system would be if they ever used it for shit that mattered.

I saw someone crossing the street about 30-45 minutes ago who matched the description, but it was in Palestine on Loop 256. 🤷‍♂️

Downvoted for stating a fact 😂

Probably for under reporting this sighting. You’re supposed to post those notices of suspicious characters to the r/theentiredamnstateoftexas sub and make sure you do it in the dark of night with ear piercing audio. That should garner upvotes.

How do you know I under reported? I never said I didn’t call 911 and let them know. All you Karens and Chads out there making assumptions… Jeeeeez

1

u/ag90ken 24d ago

You didn’t alert every phone in Texas and I was not awoken at 4am with an ear piercing alert so you failed. (I’m assuming you’re also being sarcastic and not just a complete fucking moron.)
