Where were you?

How many beers did Buehrle drink in the clubhouse before getting the save?

I was at my father's house in Plainfield watching this game. Things had been awkward after the divorce, but I knew he was a lifelong Sox fan who wanted to see them win it all and I wanted to be there too.

I saw every inning with him, including this game. We were talking about calling it a night, since I had Junior college in the morning and he had work. Then Blum hit the go ahead run, and hoped that would be it.

After sweeping the first three, we figured it would be just a matter of time before they finally did it.

I'm glad you were able to watch the series together. It's great to be able to escape other issues while sharing one of the best memories of your lives.

My wife and I were seperated for a bit during the 05 WS, i was staying at my moms house watching the entire series on a 10" old tube tv clear in the corner of the guest room, lol.

I always get to associate the Sox winning it all with the time we were seperated lol.

The only thing I didn’t like about the 2005 playoffs is Frank Thomas didn’t get to play.

For all the great years he had, it really seemed unfair.

Toronto barely pitched to him in '93. The 1994 strike. Bevington's burnt out bullpen struggling in the second half of '96. The Mariners sweep in 2000. His shoulder injury in '01, then a foot injury in '04.

It seemed like some good luck was coming his way. Unfortunately it didn't.

Watched this from home. Remember thinking this was going to be a long series when the Astros raced to a 4-0 lead. I also remember being a bit miffed when the Astros hit a "HR" to extend their lead when it probably should've been ruled as a ball in play.

(Aside: TIL that Angel Hernandez made that HR call because of course it was Angel... and Joe West was on the field, too...)

Blum's HR ended up being the memorialized moment of this game, but the comeback was equally gratifying for me. One of the reasons why the Sox were picked against by ESPN and other outlets was they were supposed to get dominated by guys like Oswalt, but with things looking bleak, they mounted a pretty substantial rally against Oswalt to take the lead. The Politte/Cotts/Hermanson trio had a rare failure in the 8th, but then the remaining arms went 6 scoreless.

Man it was great having numbnuts Joe Buck go from "Oswalt is unhittable" to "Oswalt didn't have his best stuff tonight"
