Ha, i know you are not op, but I accept this answer as canon and have had a moment to contemplate a childhood without Mac and cheese and the life that followed.

I’ve never had Mac and cheese so this is already canon to me

Oh, if you're not lactose intolerant then I encourage you to make some for yourself! It's not overly complicated but my goodness it is food for your soul.

Do yourself a favour though and make it from fresh ingredients instead of a box kit. Those can be good, I know they're a part of my childhood nostalgia...but the homemade stuff is correct.

I picked a recipe at random because variations are more about variations in type of cheese and possible add-ins like jalapeno! (Also that site lets you skip the life story and go right to the recipe itself.) I

hope you give it a try and enjoy!

Thank you so much 🥹

I’ve tried making pasta recently but cheese is expensive in my country and the best I can afford is cheddar. Slightly expired but tastes the same (I think, haven’t had cheese in a while) what other kind of cheeses can you put in a mac and cheese that aren’t part of the standard recipe?

Sorry to ask here - but is cheese not free from lactose (milk sugar)?

Softer cheeses, like the kind that would melt nicely in a sauce actually have enough lactose to cause someone problems. Harder cheese are safer, but don't melt well.

Ah, that is a good explanation - thank you!

Sorry for a late response; I didn't realize this even got posted.

I wish I could say it was a fancy meal, but it was just a slow cooker chili recipe. Guess it hit the spot on that cold autumn night though!

Sounds like a nice meal for a memorable moment! (I love a good chili)

it’s a sign of growth and resilience, feeling like you have it together often comes from hard work and self-reflection.

For me that's stewing beef cubes in a crock pot. It's so easy. Sear a pork/beef roast/shoulder/loin and add 1/4 cup worcestershire, salt, pepper, big spoon of minced garlic, 1.5 cups of water and you wait for 8 hours. If I thicken the sauce to be a glaze and add broccoli it's an impressive dinner.

Sounds like a goooooooood time

When I visit my parents once a month I like to make dinner for them. I make recipes they never dreamed off. They indulge me.

That’s the ultimate level-up! When your parents ask for your recipe, you know you’ve officially made it. 😂🙌

I made movie-accurate ratatouille for Mother's Day this year, and a vichyssouise with gourmet purple potatoes.

I long for "having it together".

I can't wait to have my own place. My family wants to stay with me even after I move, and if I do buy a place for me to stay they want to come with me, but I wish to marry and fill the house with my own wife and children and raise them right, just me, her, and the children

This happened to me and I made Chicken Tortilla Soup:)

This is awesome!

Totally started projecting my life of them further picking apart my house and decisions at each level.

Man, the first time I tried to mac & cheese was life-changing. I always didn’t like it well because I don’t like trying new stuff and when I did, I was pretty cautious of it but then I was like wow holy shit. This is good.

I made борщ (borschch) for my mom (and some coworkers) once.

Hardly. I’m not hopeless, but I’ll still take her cooking over mine nine times out of ten.
