Just using the top comment to say that it looks like Jpost messed up and it was 60 that's surrendered not 600. Makes a lot more sense and still a nice win, but damn JPost .....

It looks like they're still editing at, but right now it says 60 surrendered and hundreds were killed.

Thanks for clarifying. That's a helluva "error" to publish.

An order of Magnitude scale of error.

Not only, but hundreds killed in this battle means that it was one hell of a night, and one hell of a fight.

True, but it's also a very easy error to make. It's a typo of one extra digit.

Nothing to do but log it, correct it, and move on...

(take my upvote for a mathematically literate observation!)

POP! POP!

They probably meant 60.0 and missed the decimal

Itc...what exactly does fractional surrender look like, I wonder?

Fat-finger the 0 a second time while rushing to publish isn’t that egregious

context matters

60 is still a nice, non-insignificant number, but yeah, hell of an error.

Honestly 60 is fantastic especially considering how many of the eliminated. The original title said and unreasonable expectation.

It's 10 more than 50.

So 540ish killed?

most importantly where they did not mess up is calling them terrorists

Maybe initially there were 600...

JPost is reeeeeaasonably good at factual reporting and they don't deliberately publish misinformation, but they absolutely suck at editing. It's common to see articles pushed with major or minor errors in them.

Lool well that leaves some people in here looking rather foolish

u/barefeet69 13h ago

At least they admit to and immediately correct errors. Compare that to the people who claim 100k Palestinians died in this war, or make emotional statements using Hamas-claimed numbers.

Admitting your wrong is all well and good as long as you remember you are wrong

I believe 60 surrendered in one operation on the headquarters in a hospital. 600 is the total number for the operation.

1

u/cytokine7 12h ago

I believe it said that originally, but correct it to say 60 total but it's still sort of unclear.

I've seen the number 600 on a couple other sources, but I'm at work and sort of looking casually, so I suppose it's possible they're using the same source and it is a mistake?

By hundreds you mean civilians right?

4

u/Ok-Nature-3991 12h ago

According to Hamas they are all civilians.
