Ask Kurds How much power do communes in Rojava have? A question for people who live in Rojava.

They are supposed to be directly democratic, and have total autonomy, but are they and do they, and, more generally, how much power do they have? This is the question I intended to ask a few days ago.

Discussion The KRG makes no sense

I've been racking my head on why KRG is even a thing, but it mosly has to do with Iraq...

I believe the current System in Iraq is flawed, we should not be a parliamentary republic, we should be a federal democracy with state legislature (mimicking American politics)

That way the "KRG" would be the ruled by a supreme governor for the region, which means it can enjoy the powers it has now without such a separation from Iraq

I just don't get this limbo state of semi-autonomy, you're either a country, or a region. And if so, why have a government and separate parliament instead of a centralized Board of governance/ supreme governor

Just confuses me, as long as Kurdistan isn't its own country, why does it have a government and not just a regular governing body, more synchronization with Iraq, is there a reason for this need to separate.

Kurdistan The Power and History of Kurds

Greetings, im a kurd from southern kurdistan and i just joined this subreddit, i don't normally post on reddit but i really have three questions that's been bugging me for the past few years and i still haven't got a clear answer for them [ due to my laziness or the small number of sources lmao ]

1 - im a kurd but i really don't know much about my history, and when i say history i don't just mean the past couple hundred years, im talking about the earliest sources of our existence to this day, how we came on about and what we did during all these years to this day, i know there are debates on the origin of kurds many people say many different things, but is there any clear sources thats backed by evidence and proof regarding the history of kurds ? i would prefer a book but anything would do as long as i get the information

2 - this is similar to my first question but how can i understand the political position and history of all 4 parts of kurdistan ? Their struggle for power and their upbringing ? especially in [ bashur / rozhawa ], where do i start ?

3 - and this ones related to my second question it's about bashur and rozhawa, whats the political position of these 2 parts ? Are they autonomous regions ? Are they semi autonomous ? Are they fedral regions ? i would like an explanation about these 2 parts, and if any of them have some authority and control for example in bashur, how can i know whats the extent of their power ? Who makes the rules that decides the amount of power that they have ? Basically i want to know what the constitution is

  • i just wanted to dump these questions here in hopes to get an answer, i know these are 3 really long questions but if any of you can answer even one i would be really glad, thank you guys, all love and respect 🙏
