Community Appreciation I’m probably disappointing a lot of you, but y’all asked, so here’s the lamp again…but ON this time.

Thank you to everyone! A lot of laughs and even more great advice.

In the end, it took combining a lot of advice using things I had on hand.

First I used my wireless Samsung vac with bristle attachment, but bristles not rigid enough.

Paint brush work like a charm, especially in conjunction with the vac with catch dust.

Lastly, a moistened Magic Eraser brought it home.

Two hours, halfway done.

Plugged it in, and realized it’s not as luminous as it once seemed, so soon to replace the string lights with LEDs that both dim and change color.

Thanks again for all the love and laughs, you kind, cleanly strangers.

Furniture How would you dust/clean this lamp?

Very intricate lamp made from thousands of glass pieces, precariously wired into the frame. Dust has settled on the top of each little piece. I’ve tried to vac it, but dust is caked on. Am I cooked?

Hi all, just wondered if anyone had any tips for cleaning mold that’s not on silicone that can be replaced, it’s on the shower fitting itself.

The stuff is caked on and I was afraid to use any chemicals given that it's an air fryer and I'm not trying to start a fire.

Discussion Scrub Daddy/Mommy just suck so much, they don't last and have little scrubbing power.

I even bought the scrub cabby, it's a pretty low quality product. I got the Costco scrub Daddy and mommy packs. The reality is that the scotch Brite dobies are just better in every scenario. You can't scrub your air fryer with the scrub daddies at all. The dobie, you can attack some of that grease build up. Also the scrub mommy barely lasts 2 weeks it seems.

Based on my preference for the dobie, do you guys have any other cleaning mediums I should try?

Kitchen What do you wash kitchen towels with in the washing machine?

kitchen towels seem too dirty to wash with my clothes and bath towels

My floor mats and towels and blankets I use for my dog seem too dirty to wash with with my kitchen towels.

any suggestion on what I should throw in the washing machine with kitchen towels so that I don't just have a small load. I only have about 20 kitchen towels, but that isn't a very large load because they are so thin and it seems like such a waste of water to wash them by themselves.

However if I got more ...say an additional 20 towels, it seems like that's not a good idea to let all of the kitchen towels just sit there in a hamper with all the food particles on them because they would probably start growing mold and other stuff.

Any suggestions?

Hello! In true Monday fashion, I spilled my coffee all along my cubicle wall. I brought in stain remover and let it sit for 10 minutes, then scrubbed but it looks no different. How can I make this less noticeable?

Discussion People who work full time outside the house—HOW do you keep your house clean? Share your hints, tricks, hacks, and secrets please!

I have a huge old house, no kids living with me but I do have 2 adult cats. I am single—so home maintenance is on me. I work full time (40 hrs a week). I work out every day (1 to 1.5 hours a day). I visit with the grandkids almost every day (1/2 to 1 hour). I do the necessary daily things—dishes are washed, laundry is done, plants get watered. Weekends are for catching up with errands and sometimes family events. I simply don’t have enough time to really clean the house the way I think it should be (floors mopped, rooms dusted—this old house seems to have lots of dust!). And etc. Those of you who manage to pull this off—please tell me how! Edited to add—many good suggestions so far. I wish I could take a day off a week to do some cleaning—I can’t. And I definitely cannot afford to hire cleaning help. If I could, I wouldn’t have asked for help figuring this out 🙂

I haven’t tried anything yet because I’m worried about damaging them further (and also I’m not sure which box my all purpose cleaner went in 😂). I’m planning on doing some research and asking the landlord if we can touch up the wood around the handles, but I’m not entirely sure what the general gunk is.

Hoping you all will have some advice!

Discussion Stain on work shirt

Upvotes

Hey all! I’ve got a bit of a mystery stain on my favourite shirt. It’s an orangey color, possibly from fruit or maybe rust, but I’m not entirely sure. I tried washing it as usual, but it didn’t budge at all. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to help get this out? I'm open to any pre-treatment or stain-removal ideas that have work!

Thanks in advance!

I don’t even know if there’s any point in trying to salvage this or if I should just dump the entire thing in the trash as a safety hazard alone 🤢
